A Snowbaird Crack What-If lmao
Based on the previous post: A crack rewrite fic using the worst takes of Lucy Gray and Coryo, so Lucy Gray is 100% manipulative sly bitch and Coryo is a psychopath who absolutely doesn't care about her
Lucy Gray is not thrown into the Games because she has been set up by Mayfair. But because District 12 people simply DESPISE her ass. So she sings, "YOU CAN KISS MY AAAAASS!!!" and the Districts will be like "BOOOOOO, GO DIE, BITCH!" and throwing tomatoes.
Lucy Gray bows, grabs a tomato, and says, "Thank you for the lunch for the arena!" The Capitols see all that but Lucy Gray can still turn the table on the Capitols by turning it into a sob story to grab their sympathies.
Lucy Gray and Coryo just simply straightforwardly scheme through shit. And like @coryo says in the comment, they will be a great team, ironically. Fortunately she still sings SO GREAT. The Ballad of Lucy Gray Baird is just a 100% LIE tho. It's a sob story to manipulate the Capitol people.
Coryo kinda despises Lucy Gray, he thinks he's an absolute bitch he can't stand, but still kinda be attracted to her (because this Lucy Gray is a whirlwind he never saw in the Capitol), while maybe Lucy Gray will just flirt more 18+ version with the boy. Lucy Gray saves Coryo in the bombing just because she needs a scheming partner. By the power of the plot, she survives the rainbow snakes.
And then after that, Lucy Gray stays in the Capitol because D12 hates her anyway. She suits the Capitol life more and maybe she and Coryo will be a couple but no feelings just lust, but just AN ABSOLUTE MENACE DUO COUPLE who just schemes through for PEAK POWER. It's obvious for Coryo like @sadsongsandstories says Coryo will use his political power and Lucy Gray using her singer-songwriter/celebrity status to manipulate the Capitol, because parasocial celebrity/idol worship/cult is strong, guys, I'm sure you know.
(While sadsongsandstories says that these characterisation bad takes are valid reading because of the elements of selfishness and manipulation of them, imo, it's like chemistry, you know? Suzanne Collins put this certain percentage of Liquid X (selfishness + manipulation) and Y (love) and you get TBOSAS result. This crack is 100% Liquid X lol!)
But like @things-stronger-than-fear says they will bring Panem to the ground so soon and too soon, because I think in the end their power is TOO fragile.
Still, in the hand of a Snowbaird shipper (me), they still become a couple anyway LMAO Or maybe because they belong together no matter how fucked up they are sksksksk

So today I got a rather unkind comment on AO3 (one could call it hate), but I believe it to be a bot for several reasons:
Guest account, but username attached
Said username exists but person is unlikely to be reading Tolkien fic (according to their Tumblr and AO3, they are in other fandoms)
Two grammatically correct sentences
Super generic text that could apply to any fic:
"I've seen better fanfiction written by a toddler. Get it together!"
I'm curious, did anyone else get comments like this? Let me know.
And to those who have gotten rude comments and are now worried/upset: Maybe it was just a bot too. Either way: You're awesome for putting your writing out there for others to enjoy and you don't deserve to get rude comments for it. If you want feel free to message me to compare cases and discuss details :)

one of my favourite things about president snow’s character is that he doesn’t actually take any pleasure in the games, or their existence. in fact, i fully believe the man despises them. it’s just that he sees them as a very necessary evil, and so the show must go on.
he’s probably despised the games since he was 17, ever since he firsthand witnessed their brutality and the way it turns even the most decent people into killers. however, he’s seen just how effective and efficient a method of control they are.
they’re a short but very public spectacle that are a very brutal reminder of the price the districts pay for their rebellion. adding the aspect of being attached to these kids by providing them better odds via sponsorships, med packs, and better training and nutrition makes it even more heartrending and just more horrifying a reminder.
he knows how ghastly they are, but he’s also that clinical to know their usefulness to him, and so he continues them, because he above all else desires control.

fav thing about the hunger games might just be that katniss and lgb have long hair. my biggest pet peeve about Strong Fantasy/Dystopian Women is the fuckin "we're badass so we have short (read: chin/shoulder length) hair with bangs because we're Not Like Other Girls and this is Totally More Practical" trope bc how tf is girly keeping that shit out of her face???? can't braid it back like katniss or tuck behind the ears like lgb because it's TOO SHORT.

In 18 years of his life, Coriolanus never meets his soulmate, unlike Tigris and her sweetheart, Festus and Persephone, or even Pluribus and Cyrus. He doesn't mind it, though. Soulmates would just distract him from what matters the most.
That changes when he sees Lucy Gray Baird getting slapped on screen and he feels the sting on his cheek.

Yes, so, can someone please write this? lololol
My friends and I talked about this and I can't hold it back any longer.
We think that the connected pain kind of soulmate system would be the most interesting in a world with Hunger Games.
We also think that all this time, with the classism this world has, the Capitol taught the children that soulmates only run with blood/heritage/class whatever so Capitols will only have Capitol soulmates; and District with District soulmates, but it's not rare to not have one.
But no, actually Capitols can have their soulmate somewhere out there in the Districts. They never find out because, well, Capitols never really meet/see District people. (Propaganda: the Capitol desperately wants to hide this because it will break the "balance". They need to divide the Capitol and Districts, you see.)
Coryo has the pleasure of meeting his "District/Covey" soulmate via Hunger Games and it will bend his mind and turn his beliefs/mindset upside down. It will challenge his worldview of the Capitol and District and what is safe and not.
He has the pleasure of feeling all the pain Lucy Gray gets from the Games. The hunger pangs double and somewhere in his teenage mind, he thinks that starving together is romantic. Eating comforts him, though, because then her hunger will lessen a bit. Lucy Gray feels his pain too, from the bombing burn (the moment when she realises he's her soulmate) and, depending on where you derive the source, from the stitches he pulls out to save her.
He has the pleasure of thoughts (terror, horror, dread) assaulting his mind of what will happen to him if Lucy Gray dies in the arena and he watches helplessly as that happens. Cheating suddenly has a stronger basis for Coryo, because she needs to live or he dies, figuratively.
And for the same reason, Lucy Gray has one more reason to fear death. His pain will comfort Lucy Gray ironically, because feeling his pain will feel like he's there with her in the arena. It keeps her going.
And so he cheats and what you know happens. Coryo is banished to the Districts. But the sweetness will start there.
(Coryo's "his girl"ism will be official (officially written in the stars, I mean they are literally soulmates) and he will "HIS GIRL" so hard in this AU.)
The ending? Well...it can be a happy ending. Sweet, happy, sugary. It takes a soulmate system for him to sort out his priorities, it looks like.
Or Coriolanus can fight against the stars. And what happens in the woods happens.
He kills his own soulmate. Dead. Gone. Silence. And nothing happens, it seems, this soulmate thing is such a joke. He feels stupid for worrying about it in the past, because it turns out it has no effect on him.
(When actually his heart dies.)
But in the decades and decades after, he still feels pain from invisible wounds. Phantom pain, tactile hallucination, hauntings, or real? Is this a mental thing, is this punishment from the stars, or is she alive and well?
If she's still alive, when he harms himself (poison, dying, mouth sores), does she feel it too? (Does he haunt her too?) Should he tear up the woods, to cut the loose ends and to stop the madness of this uncertainty?
Well.
We will never know.

I don't think Snow wanted Peeta to kill Katniss.
He wanted Katniss to kill Peeta.
Peeta would attempt it, certainly, but a private reunion would be unlikely. Soldiers and doctors would be around and could help Katniss, which is what happened. Death is a possibility, but not guaranteed.
This reunion was meant to be a scarf with a snake underneath, an attempt to kill a lover.
And Snow expected that, stripped of the love that protected Katniss and with Peeta viewing her as a mutt, she would fire bullets back at him, lost in her hatred and her desperate need to survive. He would turn her into him.
