That being said, I will give some of my very basic takes because I have been wanting to talk about this for about a year now
Putting this all under the cut because this got somewhat long 😅
P&P’s parallel to midam are pretty self-evident, with the enemies to lovers slow burn romance where the characters of two different backgrounds learn to see beyond their first impressions and through each other gain the will and knowledge to fix their personal flaws, so I am going to point out a couple of fun details
At the start, every time Darcy tries to be kind of nice or pays Elizabeth any attention, she always assumes malicious intent, and I think that could work on midam as well, Michael who has grown fond of Adam, starts to not just listen to Adam but actively pay attention and ask questions and Adam is like ??? is he trying to prove that humans are as bad as he thinks?? what is this?? And Michael is just trying his best lol
there is a lot to be said about Darcy’s first proposal and how it can be applied to midam (@fivealarmfire had interesting tags on my first midam/austen post) like there has to be a moment where Michael is called out on his arrogance, the moment where he is forced to fully question his world view and everything he has thought about humans. And we know Adam, based on how he was with the Winchesters in 05x18, is fully capable of verbally eviscerating Michael.
In general, I just think the love story of midam fits very well into the Austenian style, as I think I have mentioned in another post lol. Based on my reading of Austen, the good kind of love pushes you to develop and grow, and a good partner can be the ruin or the salvation of someone’s character. When it comes to marriages the best ones are that of mutual respect where your partner makes you aware of your shortcomings and balances and helps with them. Loving someone is changing with them. And that fits midam really well
...and because you said jane austen not p&p, let me just mention ✨Persuasion✨ (If you haven’t read this book, it’s a story of a noble man’s daughter who was pressured by her family to give up an engagement to a sailor of a lower rank and they reconnect after 7 years, it is 95% pining, I adore it)
So like post 15x19 midam, anyone?? The pain of when you knew someone down to their bones but now you are acting as if you were strangers?? The silences so full of words?? Kind of hating them for their choices but still being unwilling to see them in pain?? THE PINING?? Please help send help I have been obsessed with persuasion/midam for a while now

The ironic part of Zachariah saying that Adam wasn’t really the chosen one is that HE LITERALLY WAS!! Adam was Michael’s first act of free will. Michael CHOOSE Adam over Dean. He could have easily kept going after Dean but no! He took Adam instead, even though as Gabriel put it - SINCE THE BEGINNING they knew that it was supposed to be Sam and Dean. so something yall need to know is that im a SUCKER for time travel fix it fics. and i was reading some general spn ones today, just like destiel going back, or just sam and dean going back. and that got me thinking.
midam cant have a time travel fix it. well. they could. but like. in a kinder world they never met. they never bonded. they never knew each other the way they do in this one.
but also imagine. they do go back, who knows how, to like season 5. lucifer is begging michael to walk off the chessboard, sam and dean are trying to resist being vessels. michael just sent dean back in time to show him everything is destined.
and then suddenly. michael shows up wearing adam, and theyre sharing a body and michael is done with the apocalypse and genuinely hates dean for reasons Other than him just being human
that would be so fucking funny. nobody would know what was going on. i cant imagine like zachariah's reaction

Rotating Midam in my mind.
You have Michael, who is the biggest baddest bitch Heaven's got. A literal archangel, someone who killed his own sibling without flinching, someone who was ready to kill one of his once closest brothers, even though he still loved him. The guy who said that free will was an illusion, and that fate was inevitable.
And then you have Adam, who is... some guy. Sure, he's Sam and Dean's brother, and they're the main characters, but ultimately, Adam was never meant to be important. He was introduced in S4 as a gimmick, as a way to cause the brothers man pain. He's a Midwestern teenager, raised by a single mom, his lofty goal was becoming a doctor, but he was never fated to be anyone important, anything big.
And then Michael - the guy who said that there was no other way but for Dean to become his vessel - took Adam. He was under time pressure, sure. Dean just wasn't saying yes. But this archangel, who believed so much in his father's commands that he was going to kill his baby brother for him, chose to use Adam, the clammy scrap of bait, instead of his fated vessel.
And we don't really see them interact in S5. We don't know if Michael pressured Adam into this, if he scared him into compliance. We do know that Adam looked at the bright light descending onto the room, presumably Michael's true form - which had previously burned out people's eyes, in that bar Zachariah sat in - and he didn't look scared. If anything, he looked awed.
We don't know what they talked about. How much they talked. If Adam was conscious for that fight in Stull cemetery. We are led to believe that he is not, because Michael tells Dean that Adam isn't in right now, but he might as well just mean that Adam isn't in control, that he's Michael right now.
So we really don't know anything about their dynamic in S5, but we are led to assume from what we know about Michael that it isn't a good dynamic, we are made to see Adam being possessed as an unfortunate tragic. This poor bastard just won't stop being used by angels.
And then, ten years later, Michael and Adam come out of the cage, and we are once again led to assume the worst, because Lucifer said that Michael was insane, and everyone is scared of Michael, everyone still remembers the other Michael who brought so much death and terror upon the world - and when we see this world's Michael for the first time in ten years, when he's out of Hell and could have been anywhere in the world, or outside of the world really - he's sitting in a diner, smiling fondly at the just some guy, who is eating a burger.
This archangel, who would have killed indiscriminately for the sake of the plan, to fulfill his duty - he's chilling with this guy from Minnesota, who came out of the cage with more chill than when he went in, and whose first instinct on returning to the world was... greasy diner food.
This archangel - this eerie, dangerous entity, is smiling fondly at the guy he just spend over a thousand years (local) time with in Hell. And they talk openly, like friends, about their plans for the future. Michael mentions that he has nothing, and so does Adam, and they decide to stay together, and to maybe get a little job.
The biggest baddest bitch that Heaven had. And he doesn't even go back to Heaven. His closest brothers are dead, the apocalypse can't happen anymore with Lucifer already gone, and Michael just... doesn't care anymore. He seems a little melancholy, but ultimately he is content. Content to stay with Adam, content to sit with him in some random diner in a random American town, and content to stay with him, and let Adam show him what it's like to be human.
This archangel, who has never cared about humanity, or any human. This archangel looks at the gimmick character, the forgotten brother, and he is content. Adam is enough for him.
The guy who was dead before we even met him. And he's enough for the archangel who wanted to end the world.
Adam is everything he has, actually. And Michael is content.

i'm sure this has already been pointed out but in s15e08 when adam and michael are reintroduced the parallel between chuck and michael interacting with a waitress drives me insane.
at the beginning of the episode, you see chuck interacting with the waitress serving him. he's threatening her, forcing her to do his bidding, and has killed everyone else in the casino. chuck is using his incomprehensible amount of power to not only achieve minuscule tasks, but to scare and kill humans while doing it. he's a ruthless overlord who knows how to humiliate and torture humans and takes pleasure in it.
but then you get to michael and adam's scene in the diner. while adam is in control, naturally he is caring towards his waitress and humans around him. even after over 1200 years in the deepest parts of hell, adam still has his humanity. he hasn't lost that; in fact, he only taught what humanity means to his counterpart, michael. while michael is in control of the body, he smites lilith. and while we know he has the ability to do that to every human in the diner as well, it's probably even easier to do, michael saves every single life in that diner. he goes out of his way to protect every human there and to only erase their memory of the smite, instead of simply killing everyone around and hiding all evidence he was ever there in the first place.
michael saves humans even at an inconvenience, while chuck deliberately goes out of his way to harm them. michael has grown far away from who he used to be, chuck's perfect son.
