I’ve always felt like the Exoskin is one of the most interesting villains in MLAATR because instead of just trying to destroy her or get her to join the Cluster, the Exoskin tried using Jenny’s insecurities and societal expectations to get Jenny to keep wearing it. I mean:

Exoskin: But wouldn’t we rather be beautiful in a normal way? Beauty is a 24 hour job. We can’t just look like a normal girl, we have to behave like a normal girl. Believe we are a normal girl. A normal girl can do anything... Normal is good.

Jenny: ...Normal is good.

The first thing the Exoskin does is what’s shown in the pictures above. It immediately tries insulting Jenny, by saying that they look beautiful like this and the real Jenny doesn’t. Even when Jenny argues back with the Exoskin, the Exoskin continues to emphasize that maybe Jenny is beautiful in her way but she’s not beautiful in the way that matters (the “normal” human way). The fact that everyone does react better to Jenny when she’s wearing the exoskin (and Jenny had already shown up wearing the Exoskin once before this) only seems to support what the Exoskin is saying and it messes with Jenny’s head so much she actually agrees.

Exoskin: Kicking buttocks is not the sort of thing a normal girl does. Jenny: Well, I admit I’m not a normal girl. Exoskin: We are now. Jenny: Give me back control now. Exoskin: Never! We! Will! Be! Normal!

Exoskin: You’re just a girl. It’s not normal for girls to save boys. Jenny: Well it’s normal for this girl to save everybody.

Note that the Exoskin always emphasizes being normal. A big thing about Jenny has always been fitting in: being a robot she’s not normal and doesn’t fit into society very well. Jenny likes being a robot, she has no problem with who she is except that humans do. Humans react badly to her, humans think she’s dangerous or scary or not pretty enough.

The Exoskin not only continually throws that into Jenny’s face but continually tries to emphasize what society expects from a girl. The Exoskin is conventionally attractive, it tries saying that girls don’t fight and girls don’t save boys. I’m sure if in this episode Jenny had tried doing something like when she joins the football team, the Exoskin would have had something to say about that too. Everything it says is trying to subtly shove Jenny down so that Jenny will keep wearing it.

tl;dr the Exoskin is the creepiest and best villain in MLAATR because everything it does is trying to shove Jenny down using societal conventions and her own insecurities so that it has full control of her.

Not controversial but my trans Jenny headcanon definitely isn’t common among the fandom. Otherwise I don’t like the Jenny/Sheldon and Jenny/Brad ships and my Jenny has never had crushes on either of them.

For movie or TV muses, what is your muse’s favorite scene? Why? Can you show a screenshot?

I have two favorite scenes and am bad at decision making so...

Cheating but honestly any scene with Jenny talking to the Exoskin is A++. Here the Exoskin told Jenny she’s not beautiful and Jenny’s immediate response is that she is, then ofc there’s the end of the episode where the Exoskin says it’s not normal for girls to save boys and Jenny says it’s normal for her. I just really love the interactions bc the Exoskin is constantly trying to prey on Jenny’s insecurities by emphasizing what society wants and half the time Jenny’s just like no?? Stop.

My other favorite scene (and I have no good screencap of this) is when Vega asks Jenny to rule Cluster Prime with her because honestly it’s so gay like I love Vega/Jenny and all their interactions are so good. I especially like that Vega is totally fine with Jenny going back to Earth and is just like “come visit us sometime”. Their relationship is so positive I love it.

For movie or TV muses, what other character played by your muse’s actor/actress has a lot in common with your muse?

Tfw you’ve like never seen the voice actress in any other media besides her tiny roles but uhhhh maybe Ami (Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi) or Asami (Young Justice)?

What is your ideal AU for your muse?

I’ve never really considered AUs with Jenny but I’d love an AU where she ends up joining the cluster. Or a Star Trek AU.
