The San Francisco 49ers agreed to a five-year contract extension with linebacker NaVorro Bowman that will tie him to the team through the 2018 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Bowman is now under contract with the 49ers for seven seasons, and Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis will be tied to San Francisco through 2016, giving the team one of the league's top linebacking duos for years to come.
Willis, 27, signed a five-year, $50 million contract in 2010.
Bowman, 24, leads the 49ers with 100 tackles this season and also has two sacks.
"NaVorro epitomizes what we look for in a 49er," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "We are excited that the All Pro tandem of Willis and Bowman will be together in red and gold for years to come."
The 49ers' other two starting linebackers, 28-year-old Ahmad Brooks and 23-year-old Aldon Smith, are both under contract through 2015. Smith leads the NFL with 16.5 sacks.
