Sometimes a creative outlet is a fun little hobby and sometimes it's a lifelong affliction. Like I crochet because making little woven animals sparks joy and I'm a writer whether I like it or not because I'm tormented by visions

Maybe in the minority here but I love Sam and I ship both Kara/Sam and Kara/Lee. (And Kara/Sam/Lee if you want to know the truth.)
Kara and Lee remind me of my high school relationship. They have that twin flame/cosmic love/destiny thing that I no longer find super appealing. It's a self-absorbed, obsessive love. It's immature.
Kara and Sam have something that more closely resembles what I believe marriage is. They might actually have a shot at building something that can endure the mundanity of familiarity and long years. Something that can transcend drama. Unfortunately, Kara is too unstable to sustain that, and Sam is too naive to see her for who she really is. But it's nice to see it portrayed, even briefly.
Fated love is fun to play with in stories, and I'll always enjoy watching Kara and Lee's intense attraction, but the older I get, the less patience I have for it. They start to really look like kids to me.
Imo the best part of the whole story is the way Kara is released to her own journey in the end, unfettered by any man.
Hey I'm going to join this discussion to say that I hate Anders so much why did they have to add him in the mix? I don't think Kara ever loved him no matter what is said I did hear that the writers forced him on us because the fans hated him so they were like alright he'll be in more not sure if they kept putting him with Kara because of it. Why couldn't they had Lee and Kara together now I never watched the original so no idea if i's similar but they could of had them end up together.
I believe that Kara cared for Sam, but not as much as she loved Lee. I think I read somewhere that Sam wasn't supposed to be a long term character (his last episode should have been 3x05 "Collaborators"), but it seems Katee Sackhoff loved working with Michael Trucco so much she pushed for Sam to become a regular.
I've never watched the original either, but there's no Lee and Kara there 😊 There's Apollo (played by Richard Hatch *Tom Zarek*) and Starbuck (played by Dirk Benedict). There was much controversy when the new BSG turned Starbuck into a girl 😊

genuinely need to know what the fuck was going through every random crew member's mind when they saw gaius dragging himself down the corridor by his own tie or shoving himself against a wall and staring up at nothing wearing an expression of rapturous fearousal

I literally cannot overstate how important creative hobbies are when dealing with mental illness. If you can’t draw, there are coloring books. If you can’t write a novel, you can write in short journaling bursts. If you can’t sing in the shower, you can listen to music. Sometimes with mental illness it feels like we have this dark presence inside of us that is bumping around in our brain and organs, causing problems. It helps immensely to let it out.

You know, it's a really nice feeling to have your mental health be in a place where you don't want to die every minute of the day. It's still not exactly good, but after months of being too numb to do anything creative, I'm finally putting words on a page again. It's still slow going, and I'm not super happy with them, but there are words, and it's a lot more than even a week ago.
So, if you're in a really bad place, hang in there. There will be better days again. It may take a while, and the better days may not be great, and they may not last, but they will come. Life is a bit of a shit show most of the time, but there are nice moments, and it's worth sticking around. You never know what's around the next corner.

[Patrick and I] have a long history and it's a joy when that happens. When there's someone who you've known for a long time and you've acted different things with them, but then you’re looking again it’s like there’s love, there’s a depth - you’re still doing your character. But it’s a gift. It’s really beautiful. — Gates McFadden, The Shuttlepod Show
