Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R - FL: Representative Bilirakis writes two letters in support of TIGER grant applications. The first is for a widening of a boulevard in Hillsborough Country, Florida, which will cost $16 mil. The second is for transportation infrastructure in Pinellas County, Florida and will create 1,800 short-term jobs and over 10,000 in the long-term, according to the letter.

The project would fund improvements to transportation infrastructure. In the letter he cities the City of Long Beach's 13.7 unemployment rate, as compared to the national rate, which was only 9.7% at the time.

Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, R-LA: Representative Cao, who served Louisiana's 2nd district from 2009 to 2011, writes in support of the New Orleans Street Car Expansion Project for New Orleans. While Cao assures LaHood that 43.1% of the $212 mil project will be paid with local funds, and thus the federal government will only have to provide 56.9%.
