The machine has taken over
Just like in the hours leading up to the channel’s beginning, Mark’s and Ethan’s profiles on Twitter have changed. Mark is now Annus and Ethan is now Unus.
Pretty sure we’re all on the same page on this after THIS happened in today’s video
So let’s backtrack on my previous theory and take this into consideration. Starting with their body language. Unus trying to fight the machine to extend Annus’s time just by a little bit more? Still totally plausible.
Look at Unus here. His head’s down, he’s reluctant. Like whatever’s happening he doesn’t want it and wants to prevent it by any means. Whereas Annus is all confident with his back straight, head up, like he knows what’s coming and he doesn’t want to face it scared.
At the end of it all, what if Unus’s fighting was for nothing because Annus is ultimately a being capable of more chaos & destruction? Death is simple, straightforward. It comes for you when your time is up, and much as our thinking of it was whether we liked it or not, maybe it was also a matter of whether Death wanted to take you or not.
Living is more destructive. More complicated. They cause more chaos in the living world than the dead. And Annus not only accepts that his time is ending, but he’s looking forward to it.
Now let’s move on to the Twitter profile pictures. I have a short attention span so let’s analyze just Mark’s…I mean…Annus’.
Notice anything weird? Because I do.
I don’t think this picture was taken. I think it was made. The sections of his face look disjoined somehow. Like they’re pieces of other pictures stitched together a la Frankenstein’s monster to create this image resembling Annus.
Messing around with the layers affects exclusively different sections of the picture, as opposed to it affecting the entire thing like it’s supposed to. And notice the right side of his hair. It’s a straight diagonal line. There’s no natural curve that should be there considering Mark’s hair is actually wavy.
We know that he has access to this technology. He’s created entire short videos in the past of bad deepfakes. But they improve as he kept going, finally culminating in that video chat application where you can “Facetime” a computer generated version of him. Back in 2019, I got to test it and it was already impressive but needed a few tweaks where the actual image was concerned.
I believe this picture of “Annus” was created using that same technology, a more perfected version of the software. Chances are the picture of “Unus” was created using the same treatment.

Let’s talk about the new intro & outro because there’s a bit to unpack there
So as we know, for the last few days of Unus Annus, there are special animated intros and outros to each video. First we had GrittySugar’s animations which have morse code hidden in its intro (which looks like it spells SOS but I’m gonna have to go over it again and confirm this) and references a bunch of videos (and is pending further analysis on my part tbh) for the outro.
But let’s talk about today’s animations. The intro is Mark and Ethan in a void of some sorts and they look like they’re scared and running from something until the final moment where their eyes white out and they bring us into the void with them.
Eerie as that one might be that’s not the one I want to talk about in particular today. Let’s talk about the story implied in the outro.
First we have Unus and Annus just standing and then opening their eyes…then Unus has a pocket watch that he swings over to Annus, where it becomes a skull, then (still in Annus’ hand), it becomes a rose, with petals falling off and flying over to Unus’ side. Once one reaches Unus’ side though, it becomes Unus standing on a scythe, notably at the most comfortable and confident he’s ever been.
And then we have one final frame of Annus with an hourglass, symbolizing that his time in particular is running out.
Now, when watching MatPat’s theory it was suggested that the entity watching them and haunting them is Death, but I’m going to do something I rarely do and oppose MatPat’s theory just a bit to propose my own suggestion. What if Death’s not just the unknown entity watching over them and skulking around throwing in hints about a machine and whatnot?
What if Death…is Unus?
On the surface level alone, the color of Unus is black, which is traditionally the color of death. The color black represents the absence of color…a void…a nothingness. And he swings over a clock to Annus, in white…the color of life, the color that means the presence of all colors, where the clock (a symbol of passing time and maybe also a limited time in this case) turns into a skull (a symbol of death).
And let’s rule out the creative practicalities of this animation now and talk about how there’s no more spiral. Unus and Annus are on opposite sides of the frame now. Unus is surrounded by white, surrounded by life. Annus in surrounded by black, by death.
I think the final video will only have Unus at the last moments, showing that Death comes for all Life. Because when it’s your time…it’s your time? What if their characters were representative of Life and Death co-existing with one another, and making the most of Life’s (Annus’) time on this plane of existence?
The machine? The clock. The time that Annus has left in this world. Before he times out and joins the land of the dead. Unus’ territory. What if Unus is the one trying to fight “the machine”, just to extend Annus’ time by even just a bit more?
The final line of the morse code hidden just before today’s outro reads “There is only a machine unconquered”. No one can conquer time, not even Death. Not even Unus. No matter how hard he tries.

It’s possible that they just knocked them out. A possible play for Unus & Annus would be to knock out the companions, assume the bodies of Mark & Ethan, and then when Amy & Evan wake up, they convince them that they fainted and they didn’t know what they saw.
And now to their minds, nothing’s wrong. There’s no more trace of the bodies on the ground, they see Mark & Ethan with their own eyes, and they leave the house with who they believe to be Mark & Ethan. 👀
Phasmophobia IRL Theory
I don’t have a lot of time to flesh this out right now but here’s what I think happened in today’s video (Phasmophobia IRL)
Unus & Annus the characters are existing in a different plane compared to Mark & Ethan. Before they were coming through in short bursts as if they’re fighting to break out of their current plane, like they’re prisoners trying to break free.
By Mark & Ethan going into an abandoned house with the equipment they were toting around, this opened a sort of doorway for Unus & Annus to pass through and co-exist with their counterparts. Now let’s assume that the story follows the general multiverse rule of only one iteration of the same being can exist in the same plane at once. This would explain why they’d kill the other’s counterpart.
But Ally why did Unus kill Mark and Annus kill Ethan?
Simple. Both Mark and Ethan had someone with them filming everything. Mark with Amy and Ethan with Evan. If Amy saw another Mark behind Mark or if Evan saw another Ethan behind Ethan, they’d know something’s up.
Mark knew this that’s why he told Ethan “be on the lookout for a shadow version of me”, which in the end is what Ethan really saw. A shadow version of Mark on the thermal scanner.
So now, where are we at? Unus & Annus have taken the place of Mark & Ethan. For how long? Who knows. Maybe until tomorrow, maybe until the end of Halloween, maybe until the end of the channel.
But I for one won’t be looking at them as “Mark & Ethan” for the next video, knowing that right now? As far as this story’s concerned? They both dead.

So we know by know that there is a YouTube channel called “Sunna Sunu”, and they post…very rarely. And what little posts they have are very cryptic and encoded.
Well just a while ago, they posted their fourth upload titled “01100101 01110010 01100101 01101000 00100000 01100100 01101110 01100101″, which when decoded from Binary to Text and then reversed reads as “end here”.
The screen this time is NOT a plain black screen, although with your brightness not cranked all the way up it will sure seem like it. Tweak around with the levels on that and see what you find. I haven’t had the time to go that far yet, so I did what I know how to do best: inspect the audio.
Take the audio of the video, reverse it, clean up the background noise, and speed it up by around 35%. With that, I got the following (incomplete because I couldn’t make out some of the words):
You cannot
You cannot
You cannot escape it
Two months
It’s gone(?)
???
But you cannot escape it
Run and hide, don’t escape it
You are powerless
You ??, you have seconds
I would know that
Your time goes quicker
The end is here
The end…
This is an unescapable death
I uploaded the audio for you guys to listen for yourselves and if you hear something that could fill out the “??” within my notes, or if you hear something else, we could theorize and hopefully figure out what exactly this channel is.

Okay, so I did a little bit of reverse engineering on that distorted audio that Mark snuck into his latest Minecraft video “LAVA IS HOW HAHAHaha | Minecraft - Part 16″.
This is all I can get from it, but what I’ve done so far is to pitch up the clip and also speed it up a bit. So what I can get from it is this:
Train sounds – those are definite train sounds, like we’re in a moving train and there’s a bit of bustling chaos around us. Could this be a tie in to what Wilford said in WMLW? The thing he said “probably hasn’t happened yet”?
Singing – The audio’s still a little bit distorted, but all I can hear right now towards the end is “remember me…Isn’t it nice to break free?” Could this have something to do with Yancy?
I don’t know. Listen to the audio. Do some tinkering of your own, and let’s have a discussion on what y’all find. All I know is hot damn it’s good to have my theorizing brain back.

The portrait is cracking, decaying, and aging.
My theory is that we have some Dorian Gray-esque happenings right now, and the portrait of ActorMark is dying, which could possibly mean that the outside world ActorMark (the man we’re robbing this museum with) will die with it. We’re running on very limited time because from the looks of that painting he doesn’t have long.
So the artifact that we’re stealing could be something that removes ActorMark’s tether to that portrait and will in turn make him more powerful and essentially immortal?
Could there be a route where we help Dark destroy the portrait instead? Because the end of that trailer more or less confirmed that Dark will be making an appearance in this series.
Not sure. This is a really rough theory right now, but I can’t shake the portrait thing.

I feel like sharing, so I’mma share
So I reversed the audio on two videos:
‘go back to sleep…’
and ‘Don’t Remember’
And after putting it through various effect filters to somewhat clear up the distortions (voice isolation, inversion, Treble shift, Bass shift, noise reduction, etc.), I could swear I heard some things. But then again, I could ALSO be losing my mind, but I’ll leave that judgment up for you guys.
What I heard when reversing audio for Don’t Remember:
“[demon voice] It should have worked…
[human voice] Are you sure…
[demon voice] You’re here…You are awake…You should not…You’re still sleeping…
[human voice] I’m sure he is…
[heavy breathing]
[demon laugh]”
Which kind of sort of ties in to Wilford saying “no drifting off just yet” in Wilford Motherluvin’ Warfstache, and the entire theme of ‘go back to sleep…’
Speaking of, reversing the audio of ‘go back to sleep…’ gave me this:
“Help Mark
Help Mark
Help Mark
Help Mark
[ear torture]
[Mark whisper] It’s him
[another whisper] What’s happening?
[distorted voice] You’ll see…you can see…me”
“Help Mark” is still up for interpretation if it’s meant to be taken as “help Mark”, like an instruction, or “help, Mark” like a cry for help.
This is way too rough for me to call it a theory right now, but here’s my absolutely rough hunch: This upcoming video of Mark’s has something to do with someone being stuck in a dream world/alternate reality. Could it be about someone in a coma? Possibly, but right now I don’t have enough to tell. Could be about someone in an induced state of slumber that shouldn’t be woken up, but does? Again, possible. But I haven’t looked into the evidence enough to make that jump.
But anyway, I’ll let you guys be the judge of this. Y’all might hear something different when you listen to it. So download the audios, reverse them and put them through whatever filters you think necessary to get the clearest possible audio, and maybe share what you hear? I’m curious to see if it’s just me and I’ve just completely gone off my rocker or if there’s really something to it that’s worth looking deeper into.

Okay, what if Dark is in love with the Viewer?
Or at least part of him is. Hear me out.
We see in A Date with Markiplier’s “HORROR” video that Dark is pissed, sure. But we also see that he’s not pissed at us, The Viewer. We see that he’s pissed at Mark.
We also see that despite the fact that he’s “tired of giving people a choice”, he decides to give us one. And sure, only one of those choices actually progresses the story, but his anger towards ActorMark comes out in that speech of his. “Anything of four different options, more than he had ever given you.”
And what does he say at the end when he prompts us to make our choice? “Maybe we’ll have a good date after all”. He wanted time with the viewer. And what did we do? We tried to escape, and in turn, we gave ActorMark a chance to find us.
But everything in Dark’s body language when he’s speaking to us, to the Viewer, suggests that he’s not angry with us, nor did he have any intention of hurting us. In fact, the body language suggests that maybe he’s in love with the viewer. Again, hear me out:
• straightening of his coat and tie
• taking a breath to calm down while looking straight at us after saying “I’m tired of giving people a choice”
• smiling at the very end at the viewer after cracking his neck
• smiling after saying “I’ve missed you very much”
And yes, at first glance, it’s unsettling and makes you feel uneasy, so how could this being be this “social manipulator who tricks you into a false sense of security so that he can get what he wants”, as ‘Mark’ says in the breakdown of Dark’s parts in his livestream? The actions and the description don’t jive with one another. Perhaps because Dark’s not the character that ‘Mark’ has been telling us he is? Perhaps because ‘Mark’ has been the one tricking us into a false sense of security? To get what he wants? Which is our undying and unyielding attention pointed at him, and not Dark?
But if Dark is really supposedly skilled at being a social manipulator, then why do we feel so unsettled during his parts of the video? This is supposed to be someone who can seduce you into joining him, into not having any desire to return to Mark, but instead the feeling that was projected onto the viewer was a feeling of “I need to escape this person”. What if Dark’s just a character who high key sucks at showing his emotions? And that’s why his actions are rash and awkward? Because all he wanted to do was spend time with the viewer and break them out of ActorMark’s hold.
Remember: Dark is still partly Damien. And Damien wanted what was best for us, and he’s the only one who wanted to help us in the end. Mark (real Mark) said this himself in the ‘I Explain Everything’ stream, when he was explaining the foreshadowing in the party scene. So it’s entirely possible that what we see in A Date with Markiplier is Damien trying his damnedest to help us, and in his rash and urgent mentality of “I need to help you I need to set you free”, his actions come off as unsettling, and awkward.
I don’t know…this has been riding on my brain for about a week now. I felt like sharing.
There’s also the whole “What if we were dating Darkiplier in Fall in Love with Markiplier” theory, but that’s for another post…probably…~Ally
