“Opal Malone (aka Katie Gilchrist) is a rare gem... An artful and accomplished actor, singer, director, producer, and musician from Kansas City, Missouri, she sings like a nightingale and she’s clever like a fox. She is perfectly proud, and pleased as punch, to be a part of The New Century Follies, as well as a founding member of both The Monocle and The Living Room Theatre. Opal most sincerely thanks you all the way from the bottom of her warm, swiftly beating heart, for doing all you can to support the arts in this remarkable city, and in any city across the globe, but especially this one.”

“Sweet Louise, Pearl of the Plains, is a glamorously comedic and fiercely sensual performer, who has been delighting burlesque audiences since 2007. She's been a performer, producer, and passionate instructor to both budding and broadly blossomed burly beauties. It's been said of Sweet Louise's teaching,  "I love what she does for the people around her. She dusts off the beauty inside everyone." And as a performer? She has a knack for goofy glamour, topsy turvy teases and sexpot class. She's a performer who knows that farts are funny, feathers are fabulous and there's no such thing as too much sparkle. Watching Sweet Louise: wolf whistles, howls of laughter, and gasps of beauty. You may never catch your breath again.
And what of the New Century Follies? It's a rare gift. An artistic joy to be a part of the NCF Team. We are bringing forward classic entertainment from bygone years - burlesque, big band, vaudeville, variety, comedy, all with a deep reverence for our roots and a desire to entertain your pants off ...or rather our pants off. In an era too often defined by distance and disengagement, being apart of an NCF show whether back stage or in the audience feels a bit like waking up in a 1950's movie musical in the era when there was No Business like Show Business. So join us, sing along if you know the words. *movie star wink*”

“Damian Blake is a man of many faces.  A Kansas City actor, artist, and physical comedian, Damian started his obsession with silent film and offbeat humor at an early age.  He hosted his 4th grade talent show as Groucho Marx, complete with musical numbers and wink-wink double entendres, and started dressing as Chaplin at age three.  Recently he has appeared in the Coterie Theater’s 'Lyle the Crocodile' and 'Slashdance', and The Living Room's 'A Bucket of Blood,’ and 'The Accidental Waiter'.  He, along with his wife Annie Cherry, is the co-founder and co-producer of both 'The New Century Follies' and 'The Nightcap', a live late-night talk show. They also travel the United States as entertainment-for-hire at private events and variety shows. He has provided baggy pants comedy and the occasional striptease to countless burlesque and vaudeville shows, and was recently crowned the King of the 2013 Kansas City Burlesque Festival. Damian is also an internationally recognized Charlie Chaplin impersonator, having appeared as Chaplin in print, on film, and for numerous corporations.  In his free time he drinks coffee, designs show posters, and thinks about all the sleep he could be sleeping if he didn’t have so many damned cats."

“Annie Cherry was born at high noon in the springtime, near the mighty, muddy Missouri River. She grew up dancing, singing, and making people laugh. As a young woman, she fell prey to the lure of a belly dancer's swaying hips, inspiring her to learn how to shake her own moneymaker. The earthy drumbeats evolved into the thrill of the jazz band and the bump 'n' grind, and Annie's career moved onto the burlesque stage. Her deep love for the shimmy and shake remains strong, as she also explores other forms of self-expression, from pantomime to street performing, film acting, writing, and producing theatre.
When Annie's personality began to outgrow the barroom stages, she pushed her way into just about every vintage venue her fair city had to offer. She now co-produces The New Century Follies. The Follies hearken back to the golden age of yesteryear, without falling victim to society's tendency to sanitize history. The Follies often takes place at The Folly, Kansas City's oldest theater, but you never really know where one of these bawdy hullabaloos might pop up...
Annie's greatest wish is to continue creating life-affirming, joyful, immersive theatrical experiences... and also to partake of very good bourbon.”

The New Century Follies provided both ambient and onstage talent to headline the annual Bloom fundraiser for KC Care Clinic this record breaking year.  From KC Care Clinic Marketing and Development Director Kirk Isenhour, "So humbled by the AMAZING support of this town! Bloom Speaks Easy was not only the highest grossing fundraiser in Clinic history - but also the highest netting event - that means we can care for MORE patients! Thanks to amazing designers, artists and partners that helped pull Friday off UNDER budget -as one friend said - was Kansas City at it's best! Check out the pics - HUMBLED by the committee that pulled this off. I have the best job in the world!" "8/10 people when asked if they would be happy dropping dead at Bloom Party last night said "Shoot me now!". The other two were either dancing too hard, didn't hear the questions, or were making out. I have never, ever seen an event like last night in my almost 40 years on the planet." -Stacey Lukas

Say what? The New Century Follies Quarterly Revue...
“Your show on Friday, in my opinion, was even better than your debut in April. How you managed to pull that off is beyond me. The talent pool you tap into seems to be endless. It is obvious to me it is another aspect of the fact you strive for excellence in all your shows. It is indicative in the performance of all your performers. I'm also big on how you pump up our town. Kansas City is a great place and I'm glad to be part of it and help to support the New Century Follies at that wonderful old gem, the Folly Theater.” -Tom Tuttle
“What a fantastically fun evening!! Thank you all for a wonderful night! As for miss Annie Cherry - Fever indeed!” -Richi Mott
“What a great place to take a first date. The clown humor made tears of joy waterfall from my eyes. So glad you all put this on. Such a big fan. Can't wait to see the next one!” -Jessica Snyder
“Getting so spoiled here in KC! We have such incredible talent! Such a fantastic show once again, & I was so thrilled to be able to see some of my favorite performers pay tribute to the roots of what we all love to do in such a spectacular fashion!” -Malyssa Brannon
“Once again I was in awe of all the performances this evening!! You all did such a stellar job!! I can't wait for the next one!!” -Thomas Cray
“Now I understand the excitement when Katie got the call that "The Dresses" were in. Oh My God, I won't abbreviate for that one. I would say fabulous as always, but I truly think you are upping the ante. You were all fabulous. I'm just an ignorant appreciator, but when my Rain, a professional musician for twenty years who played in some of the best concert halls in Europe and the U.S. has screamed herself horse that says something... It was more than worth it. Thank all of you for a wonderful night of entertainment.” -Greg Meister
“What an assemblage of talents! Great show, and naughty fun well done!” -Ross Harmon
“Daisy Buckët, Ron McGee, a rubber chicken, a cream pie, and "Slowly I Turned." That's some good stuff, right there. And I have a huge crush on Katie Gilchrist now. Great show tonight!” -Michelle Daniel
“Here are some words to describe this evening's performances: awesome (in the strictest sense of the word), hilarious, surreal, and totally worth it!” -Jamie Bigford Peters
“Beautiful, charming, funny and fabulous show last night. Here's to MANY more!!!” -Stephanie Greene
“Thank you for including Louis and I in the performance last night. We truly enjoyed every moment of the evening. So honored to be part of of that amazing night with such talented stars. You all went out of your way to welcome us into the group. Thank you for every small detail that made our experience as fabulous as the show. Congratulations on an amazing event. Long Live the Folly!!!” -Lauren LaPointe
“What an amazing experience New Century Follies is! Thank you so much for bringing this to Kansas City. I am so proud and humbled by the talent in my home town. Go on and pat yourselves on the backs.” -Romany Jewel
