odile is only an avatar of the lonely and not the beholding because peter got custody of her in he and elias’s 46th divorce

Odile Allen Scott - Name Origin

Allen Scott:

Odile was born to parents who were already divorced by the time she was born. The both had retained custody rights, and were very doting towards their daughter. She grew up happy with everything she wanted. It wasn’t until she was in high school she realized that everything she was given, was just a way for her parents to one up each other, and nothing had ever been about making her happy. It been about her parents making each other miserable. This was the first time she felt the loneliness she would later come to manipulate.

Odile:

Taken from the character from the Swan Lake ballet. The Black Swan is the opposite of the main character Odette, and both roles are danced by the same performer. While Odile is her birth name, she often refers to the version of herself before becoming an Avatar of the Lonely as Odette.

-The rivalry with Gerry wasn’t one sided. He absolutely knew that she was becoming an Avatar of the Lonely, but didn’t stop it from happening. They pretty much hated each other, but had their moments.

-Her first victim was another researcher who had bullied and harassed her in the past. She didn’t even realize what she was doing until it was too late, and her transformation into an Avatar was already complete.

-She targets mostly businessmen, who already are on the verge of isolating themselves from the other people in her lives. She can’t really bring herself to turn people she can’t already hate into victims of the Lonely.

She targets people with high ambitions and isolated them by forcing them into their work, taking away time that would be otherwise occupied by anything else. Eventually, that’s all there is, continually climbing up a social pyramid that never has a highest level. They leave everything behind that isn’t work.

Can make people forget faces and names. Even their own.

She treats it like a competition, seeing how many more people she can ruin than the Lucas family each year. She and Peter meet up once a year to compare scores. She always wins.

One time accidentally called Peter Lucas “Dad” and then stabbed him before running off and making him forget who she was for a month.

Focuses more on the kind of loneliness felt when still surrounded by people. Exclusion. Embarrassment. Not belonging.

At one point in time, she was trying to become an assistant to Gertrude Robinson, but was rejected. Had a rivilary with Gerard Keay, because it was around the time that he started working with Gertrude, and she felt that she had been passed over for him.
