Unli Samgyupsal! ♥️
Korean culture is everywhere and is considered a strong influence to us Filipinos. Kpop, kdramas, korean skin care, and many more. Us Filipinos appreciate everything korean especially their food.
Korean cuisine is largely based on rice, vegetables, and meats. Traditional Korean meals are named for the number of side dishes (반찬; banchan) that accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice. Kimchi is served at nearly every meal. Commonly used ingredients include sesame oil, doenjang (fermented bean paste), soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes, gochujang (fermented red chili paste) and napa cabbage.
A recently opened korean restaurant who serves the cheesiest samgyupsal opened in the Metro. Romantic Baboy serves unlimited everything, from the 8 choices of meat to cheese. They have a branch in CKB Center, Tomas Morato, Quezon City. They will soon open branches in SM North
For the price of 499 PHP you can enjoy the  unlimited samgyupsal but theres more! When you come in between 11 am-3 pm you can get a discount of 10% from your total bill.
The 8 choices of meat are:
Herb Samgyupsal
Woo Samgyup
Moksal
Daepae Samgyupsal
Yangyun Galbi
Romantic Bulgogi
Spicy Beef

The menu for Romantic Baboy has a wide array of selections to choose from. You can also order their steak and other side dishes if you dont feel eating that much.

Binondo Adventures
As a kid, I always loved the Chinese cuisine. Growing up my family and I spend our weekends eating out and most of the time, you guessed it right, we eat at Chinese restaurants.
The center of Chinese food and culture here in the Philippines is Binondo . It is one of the most well known China towns in the world, and its in fact the oldest one yet. Let me take you back at the year 1594, this was when Binondo was created by the Spanish Governor Luis Pérez Dasmariñas as a permanent settlement for Chinese immigrants also known as the sangleys who converted to Catholicism. It was across the river from the walled city of Intramuros where the Spaniards resided. The Spanish gave a land grant for Binondo to a group of Chinese merchants and artisans in perpetuity, tax-free and with limited self-governing privileges.
Hmmm okay. That explains the very traditional way of preparing and cooking their food. Anyway, enough with the history lets start the food adventure, shall we?
How would you get there you may ask? Well you can hail an uber or grab that can take you anywhere you want to go or you can do it the traditional Filipino style by riding a jeepney. Ride a jeepney that says Philcoa/Pier(south) this will cost you 8 PHP. Alight at the farthest the driver will drop off the passengers and ride a tricycle which usually costs 30-50 PHP. Its that easy to get to eat your favorite Chinese specialties!
Binondo is most well known for the street Ongpin. Ongpin is where you can find and start your gastronomic adventures! It is located at the heart of Binondo. You can find Cafe Mezzanine which serves Xiao Long Bao for 170 PHP! Of course that is not what they are well known for, they specialize in a soup called Soup No. 5 which is made from a broth of a bull’s private organs. Yikes! sounds a little outrageous but people who come and visit Cafe Mezzanine make sure to order the soup. If you go farther down Ongpin street you will see a bridge beside the river that are jam packed with people. Why you may ask? Located beside the bridge, go down the steps and you’ll see a very popular go to fast food which the locals call Estero, its literally beside the estero! They serve fresh meat and seafood which you pick and they cook it on the spot. Its very popular because of their authentic style cooking and of course, you may have a drink or two while enjoying your meal. Lastly, theres a small shop who sells the best Siopao, but the thing is its fried! Yes you read it right, in the busy street of Ongpin lies a humble place that sells Fried Siopao. For only 20 PHP, you’ll get to enjoy a hearty and warm siopao with shanghai filling.
But wait, there’s another China town in Manila, its located near the home of the Growling Tigers, its Banawe! Banawe is not all car parts they have good Chinese restaurants there too. As I said, growing up my family always loved Chinese food and located in Banawe is our favorite restaurant. Its Lam Tin Tea House. Our personal family favorite is the Spareribs Rice which also happens to be their best seller which costs for 135 PHP.
What a long day of Chinese food and culture! Surely, I deepened my knowledge of Chinese cuisine that I’ve always loved and I’m glad to be taking on a gastronomic adventure that is very close to my heart.
