Patriarchy is a judge that judges us for being born
And our punishment is the violence you don't see
This is a performance called Un violador en tu camino (A rapist in your way) by Chilean feminist colective Las Tesis (The Theses). You can see it with Spanish, English, Swedish or German subtitles (and add new languages if you can!).
The song and moves express violence faced by women not only in private life but also misogynistic violence that is accepted and even promoted by the State. When the performers start squating it references an illegal procedure that women suffer greatly over men when they are detained by cops. Cops force them to undress and squat as a form of sexual humiliation, and despite its illegality, it is extremely rare they face any consequences. The title references the cop's slogan Un amigo en tu camino (A friend in your way).
You may know Chile has had massive protests against our socioeconomic reality for over a month now, and cops have been very violent in their repression, endorsed, of course, by the State. This reality hasn't changed so far despite national and international outrage.
Yesterday, 29th of November, the performance was repeated in France, Spain, Colombia, England and more countries.
