Cyril Hahn at Good Room on Fri Apr 14 - Info and tix: http://thehydrant.nyc/a71 Doors 10pm 〰 The Swiss producer and DJ has provided some of the most delectable remixes and originals for the larger part of the last decade (that Mariah Carey "Touch My Body" still gets plenty of replay in and out of the bedroom) and we've loved getting down to his mixes on bass-strapped dance floors, at rooftop day parties and inside the dark corners of dim sum restaurants across the city. . For this round we're headed to Greenpoint for some Polish pre-clubbing dinner then straight to Good Room for a night filled with fantastical beats and luscious sounds.

Poolside with Vito & Druzzi, Justin Strauss & Billy Caldwell at Good Room on Fri Mar 17 - Info and tix: http://thehydrant.nyc/a64 Doors 10pm 〰 Good Room Presents: Poolside (DJ Set) + Vito & Druzzi Love Tempo in the Bad Room: Justin Strauss & Billy Caldwell all night . Poolside are the daytime disco project of California duo Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise. Inspired by mezcal, good food, and good friends, oolside's debut album Pacific Standard Time was released in 2012 to critical acclaim. Poolside has received praise from media outlets ncluding Pitchfork, Dazed & Confused, Gorilla vs Bear, and NME, and their music has been spun and suppor y James Murphy of LCD Soundsyste, echno legend Derrick Ma, and disco don Todd Terj. Poolside has toured extensively, with performances at festivals including Coachella, Primavera, and Treasure Island. The group's remixes of Little Dragon, the Rapture, Sade, and Matthew Dear have garnered the duo much attention, and their mixtapes are backyard BBQ essentials and perfect for pool parties. They're new single "And The Sea" was released in the summer of 2016, and their new album will be released in 2017. . Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel "Druzzi" Andruzzi, known as the DJ/ production duo, Vito&Druzzi, are no newcomers to dance music. As members of the band The Rapture, both artists were front and center during the rebirth of electronic sounds in popular music. Considered one of the seminal indie bands of the early 2000s, The Rapture are well known for their seamless marrying of early post-punk with elements of disco and house. Roccoforte (drums, programming), an original founding member of the band, and Andruzzi (multi-instrumentalist /in-house engineer/producer) who came on a few years later, were often drawn to the more club based elements of the group's sound and they spent the next decade helping make hits that would come to define The Rapture’s aesthetic. As members of The Rapture they worked with a number of esteemed producers including James Murphy, Tim Goldsworthy, Paul Epworth, Ewan Pearson, Danger Mouse, Zdar and Timbaland and have toured with music legends like The Cure and Daft Punk. It was also during this time that both Vito&Druzzi began to explore production and Djing at a deeper level, taking notes along the way from the surrounding world-class producers.

Spring/Break Art Show - Armory Arts Week at 4 Times Square on Wed Mar 01 - Info and tix: http://thehydrant.nyc/a51 Doors 11am 〰 SPRING/BREAK Art Show is an internationally recognized exhibition platform using underused historic New York City spaces to activate and challenge the traditional cultural landscape of the art market, typically but not exclusively during Armory Arts Week. The sixth annual fair will be held from February 28th – March 6th, 2017 in our new location at 4 Times Square. . By first inhabiting St. Patrick's Old School, and then the former James A. Farley Post Office, the initiative offers independent curators free space within New York City landmarks. In exchange for no-cost exhibition space, visionaries both established and unknown are charged with activating these non-traditional areas under a unifying theme and pushed to extend the boundries of typical market week practices, low overhead and shifting curatorial themes their assets to this end. . All artworks in the show are displayed and available for purchase online, giving artists unknown, emerging, mid-career, and beyond a virtual compliment to their tactile exhibition. . Low-cost exhibition space and low-cost entry for art patrons, public, and practioners alike aims to widen the arts audience in New York and broaden the dialog of what constitutes value and economy in a 21st Century city. . In 2017 over 150 curators will premiere new artworks created by over 400 artists, all selected around this year’s central art theme, BLACK MIRROR.

Bjarne Melgaard - The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment at Red Bull Arts on Thu Feb 16 - Info: http://thehydrant.nyc/a41 Doors 12pm 〰 Red Bull Arts New York is pleased to announce that its inaugural exhibition, under its new moniker, will be the first large-scale presentation of Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard’s ongoing project, The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment. . Coinciding with New York Fashion Week, Melgaard launches The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment, an unrelenting multi-site, multi-night, culmination of his ongoing ‘fashion’ project. Centered around Red Bull Arts New York, which Melgaard and company have transformed into a multilevel psycho-pathological department store that opens to the public on February 16, Gavin Brown’s enterprise will function as the jewelry department – hosting the American launch of his collaboration with jeweler Bjørg Nordli-Mathisen (BJØRG). The same collaborative jewelry collection made its European debut at the Astrup Fearnley Museum this past November in Oslo. . Produced in collaboration with creative director Babak Radboy, the exhibition will feature a presentation of the eponymous menswear/unisex clothing line, The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment, which violently embraces the obsessive and self-destructive aspects of fashion and consumerism. For Melgaard, fashion is a vague nothing at the intersection of a subject and an object — between inadequacy, self-deceit, victimization, ethical compromise, intellectual humiliation, financial/romantic entanglements and corporeal decay — driven by an infinite cycle of disappointment and desire. . Red Bull Arts New York will be transformed into a derelict department store populated by an army of genetically enhanced mannequins in bespoke looks produced in collaboration with art/fashion stylist Avena Gallagher.
