I promised I would write a post on our camping experience from summer 2020. { Do Swipe left to see all the wonderful moments I've captured } We booked our campsite for the last week of August as places were fully booked and limited due to Covid-19. We were able to find this beautiful spot (26 Lakeside) by the water in Darlington Provincial Park Campground. Located in Bowmanville, Ontario. Our tent was Purchased from @costco Canada and it was the @colemancanada_ brand. The tent is a giant 8 sleeper and you can stand Inside it. โก๏ธ We wanted to buy the larger one incase we ever had my parents or husband's mom visiting wanted to camp with us. Also it's great to store the belongings and extra materials that you do not want any insects crawling in. ๐ YES THERE WILL BE BUGS like flies and mosquitoes. CRAWLING INSECTS like ants and if you get lucky maybe even centipede. Haha ๐น this is why I chose a lakeside spot because the woods have more insects. You can always avoid them by taking Coils/insect repellant sprays and lotions. Which we did. Fire also keeps them away and we had our fire going till midnight. Other essentials I recommend for camping are: A portable gas stove or Bbq machine, a Giant water tank for drinking and washing hands. However Darlington has washing stations nearby. We were lucky to be near washrooms too and it was very clean compared to many other outdoor ones. Take your scrubby clothes as your clothes will smell bad later from all the outdoor cooking and smoke. ๐ข Sleeping bags or air mattress ๐ข inflatable pillows. I took real pillows because I can't sleep without my own pillow ๐
๐ข lots of Sheets and Blankets to keep you warm at night as temperature will be low at night and sleeping outdoor is just colder always ๐ข sweaters and socks. ๐ข definitely Portable Lamps/Flashlights. ๐ข power banks to charge your phones. ๐ข A Big cooler filled with ice to keep your food from spoiling ๐ข Utensils, Pots and Pans to cook, every other essential that relate to what you will eat. Plates/cups etc. ๐ข Table cloth, food covers and wraps to keep those Racoons from attacking at night. ๐ข Fire starter I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL. โบ๏ธโบ๏ธ . . . . . Listen up Moms. Your brain is precious. It doesn't have a shortage of certain supply or weakness just because you're a Mom now. "Mom Brain" is a term thrown around like confetti these days. Do you ever hear a Dad say "ahhh I must have a dad brain" if they forget something? My husband forgets his keys and Wallet at home all the time. He doesn't call me and say "oh dear I have a daddy brain today!". Mental overload is a REAL THING. Especially for us Moms. We take on so much more mental/emotional burden and load than the other gender. **cough** ๐คท (it shouldn't have to be) *Mental Overload* can happen to Moms because HELLO we give undivided attention to little jilly Billies all day, deal tantrums, breaking up fights, wiping snot/vomit, picking up dirt, feeding them with all our might, bathing, making hard choices, potty training, sleepless nights of breastfeeding/ bottle feeding, we bear the pain of weaning them from the 1 stage to another. We also gave birth to them. Remember that? That itself is a LIFE CHANGING TRANSFORMATION FOR OUR BODIES. Add working mom/Student mom to those. You're a machine! So don't belittle yourself with that term "mom brain syndrome" anymore. You are a wholesome package of everything ๐ After a child is born a mother goes through a new stage in her own life. She is now more in touch with another human fulfilling their needs 24/7. Add multiple kids to that now. Sleep deprivation can cause forgetfulness. Because it helps the brain to rest/refresh. Our brains are constantly occupied with these little beings. So it's okay to forget something here & there. It's not your weakness or shortage of brain power. It's actually the opposite. You are the powerhouse that provides for her family. You are also very human ๐ Ask for help around the house and speak to someone you can trust if you're feeling mentally overloaded. Especially now with a Pandemic, momhood has entered a new stage of exhaustion. Enters: Virtual/Homeschooling. ๐ฎ That's alot going on here!! There is help available you just need to reach out. ๐ Don't suffer alone. . . . . #muslimmom (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSyFtJggYr/?utm_medium=tumblr

I love celebrations. I love Birthdays, Anniversaries, all kinds of life's moments to celebrate! We enjoy it even more when it's celebrated friends, family while we laugh and share moments of joys. I've really been missing our small gatherings/potluck parties with my closest people and enjoy the day with good food and laughter. To Honour ๐๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป'๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐๐ต ๐ช๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ธ which is February 1st-February 7th I have made a list of ways You & I can fill our children's Emotional Needs Everyday. This lockdown hasn't only been tough for us parents, but also for our children. Often we get lost in the madness of a daily chaotic life and we forget our children are absorbing our energy and they need validation of all the Big Little Emotions they feel. ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ โฌ๏ธ #1) Morning & Bedtime Snuggles - these are the two crucial times when kids are most vulnerable. Going to bed can be overhwhelming for some kids due to fear of sleeping alone/night mares, bed wetting etc. Waking up when mom or dad may not be around can fe lonely too. I make sure I snuggle/hug my kids (even my 11 year old) to assure them I am here and they are safe. #2) Hugs reduce stress and lower anxiety/depression. Family therapist Virginia Satir said, โWe need four hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.โ #3 & #4) Ask your kids how they're feeling often and truly listen to them while making eye contact. This will form an emotional bond with you both ๐ Dr. Nerissa Bauer, developmental pediatrician says that eye contact is important for social, emotional & language development. #5) Have a Phone Free Time set for a period of time in a day - this will not only give a positive msg to the kids that you value them but you will.alao appreciate the wholesomeness of being present and mindful of the present. โฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธ I have collaborated with these amazing Mental Health Advocate Bloggers โฌ๏ธ @multiculturalmotherhood @themunchingmedic @minimindfulmuslim @a_bitofpink @themontessoristudio @letslearnmama @mindful_muslim_mama @thehijabimomm @freyasfunnyfeeling @thepreciousyears . . . #muslimmom #muslimahblogger (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLAPeeYBGA9/?utm_medium=tumblr

I ๐ Someone with Autism. ๐ Today is April 2nd and the beginning of #autismawarenessmonth This is the very first time I am sharing something personal as this with you all. ๐๐ But Autism is no longer a taboo subject and there is nothing to be silence about. I believe Autism is a Unique Blessing from God ๐ Yes it makes our lives difficult and some days very tough. But this journey makes us wiser as we continue to learn to be with some of the most special humans. In the end of 2019 we found out my son who was 5 then was on the #Autismspectrum I will continue to talk about it throughout this month and I hope you will join me on this wonderful conversation. Today, I want to celebrate my Beautiful Happy, amazingly creative and imaginative little human who fills my heart with content. I always knew he was unique. He is funny and quirky. Hia crazy stories ๐คฃ make my belly tickle. He loves MATH and Art and those are his strongest subjects. When he can't express himself it's very difficult for him and it effects his sleep, his mood and tolerance with others. But if you give him a paper and crayons, he will give you a masterpiece. As he grows we continue to find more and more about him that is unique and special. He is super honest and extremely empathetic. He won't even let us kill a Bug that he was terrified of. Once we found a Centipede which i an terrified of, he cried and cried and begged us to just let the Centipede out but not to smash it. ๐
๐ Autism is different for every child and every mom. I am new to this journey and I Iearn so much everyday. I learned alot from the following moms with children with Autism. Oud or Bukhoor burning is not only aromatic and smells Amazing in the house but it also has tremendous benefits on our mood. ๐ Have you ever tried them? ๐ Oud burning become my Absolute favourite since I returned from Malaysia. Before that I never quite understood this powerful piece of wood that every Muslim household loves. But we found pure Oud from Makkah there, and it was a burst of sensations for brain. ๐ I felt the immediate effect of lighter and happier mood and it just smelled so heavenly. Now I understood the beauty of this aromatic wood and why my Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam) loved it so much. It is Sunnah (Practicing what the Prophet did) for one to burn Bakhoor/ Oudh. There are many virtues of burning Bakhoor and other fragrances mentioned in the Hadeeth. Hadhrat Umm Qais Bint Mihsan narrates that โI heard the Prophet (sallallahu aleihi wa sallam) saying, โTreat with the Indian incense, for it has healing for seven diseases; it is to be sniffed by one having throat trouble, and to be put into one side of the mouth of one suffering from pleurisy.โ (Saheeh al-Bukhari, Hadeeth # 5368, Kitab al-Tibb) @hsaperfumes Offers Oud in many different forms and strengths. She also sells Oud perfume sprays and Perfumes. Ive been lucky to be gifted a few of her products and I have been using them last whole month and will continue to use them. โฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธ . . . #ramadanโค๏ธ2021 (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CN0xRlMBHab/?utm_medium=tumblr

Don't forget to Rest While your fasting today. This is a corner for my kids but sometimes I bring in the folding bed to rest while my kids are in virtual school or playing. Ramadan is already half way through. This is how I have been dealing with Ramadan Fatigue while taking care of my kids and family. If you have have any tips please let me know in the comments. โฌ๏ธ โช๏ธ Eat a well balanced Suhoor (meal before Dawn) I make sure to have protein rich smoothie or a meal and always a Date. ( A date is filled with many different nutrients to keep our body energized) I also drink Coconut Water as it has Electrolytes to combat dehydration โช๏ธ Drink plenty of water after Iftar till Suhoor. โช๏ธ Keeping my meals lighter when I first break my fast and I take alot of Yogurt for digestion and cooling of the stomach. โช๏ธDuring the day I try to do a cat nap. I don't have guilt over giving my kids some screen time just so I can do this. I choose to honour my body so I can be healthy and alive for my kids. โช๏ธLast but not least. I do not stress on huge meals for Iftar. Usually we do one pot meal or quick meals cooked in the Instant Pot like khichuri, Morog Polaw, daal and rice etc. I bake most of the Iftar menu and occasionally fry them in very little oil. Salad and fruits are a big part of our Iftar! . . . . #ramadanโค๏ธ2021 #ramadanreflectionspandemicedit (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/COQcjmDBMMJ/?utm_medium=tumblr
