In 1997, the Chicago police arrested Dr. Michael Swango, who eventually plead guilty to murdering four of his hospital patients, although it was suspected that he had killed many more. In his possession was a notebook, into which he had copied a passage from a book by David Franke about Holmes, The Torture Doctor (1975):
“He could look at himself in a mirror and tell himself that he was one of the most powerful and dangerous men in the world. He could feel that he was a god in disguise.”

“I think it’s safe to say nobody in their right mind wants to go into a church and kill people, I told them I had to, but it’s not true…I didn’t have to. No one made me. What I meant was, I felt like I had to do it, I still feel like I had to do it.”

this is lois oglesby, she was 27 years old and one of the victims of the dayton shooting. she was also a loving mother who leaves behind two children including a newborn. she worked at a daycare & was currently in nursing school, she was excited about her career choice because of her love for children. when the shooting happened, she had already been shot when she facetimed her boyfriend telling him she needed to get to her children. her story breaks my heart, no one should have to ever experience this & no child should ever lose their mother, especially to such violence.
please remember lois. 💔
