He was definitely shaking free from the tight space, but the noises became more and more intense with every movement he made. Pebbles were slowly falling on the sides, but it wouldn't have taken much for larger rocks to appear. Time was out. Leo pulled Jin as hard as he could and groaned, by using all of the energies stored inside his body. Plop! Suddenly Leo fell backwards by bringing the other man with him on the ground. In front of them, a pile of boulders fell by blocking the entrance. The spelunker stared at the top of the cave, by trying to work out what had just happened. He quickly realised: he saved Jin from some nasty heavy rocks which could end his life prematurely. He made deep breathes, which helped him cool down. They still had to watch out for other dangers, but the cave looked sturdy enough except for that entrance, so they could catch a breath.

❝Jin? Jin are you okay? Everything's fine now, it's gonna be fine❞ He said by trying to reassure him.

For a moment, he wondered if how worse the situation would get if a certain devil's lasers tried to blast his body out of the rock. On second thought, he'd rather not kill Leo along with him. Beside, whilst he's trying to contact Devil, he's receiving no responses. Must still be resting, he does that most of the time since the fight with Kazuya.

Dammit . . .

❝ Alright. ❞

He obliged Leo, wiggling as hard as he can. The jagged rock scraped against his skin & clothing, he can hear fabric tearing against the rocks. Groans leave him, but Jin ignored the sting. Like afore, his body moved slightly, causing more noises to holler.

❝ Is it working any ? ❞

Jin couldn't tell. Or maybe, it was his lack of patience convincing him nothing was happening, asking him why he wasn't out already.

Leo raised a eyebrow as a reaction to her clumsiness. He didn't know her personally, but judging by her appeareance and her strenght in fighting, he didn't expect her to be like that. However, he didn't think too much about it: as Asuka said, they were distant cousin; therefore they didn't get the chance to spend time together and get to know each other so they were more like strangers. ❝Yeah, I think it does...❞ He coughed slightly before answering sincerily to her question, or at least with most of sincerity. ❝I don't think he's the person everyone depicted in the past. Before I met him, I'd been thinking too he was as the same as Kazuya, y'know? Because... they are father and son. But they're not.❞ Leo took a big breath and looked at his left, by gathering his thoughts together. He then kept talking:

❝He's a tormented man with a tormented past, who's trying to make amends to his mistakes. That's all❞ That was Leo got from the fight against Jin. The fact he possessed the Devil gene didn't mean he was necessarily evil, but he surely wasn't a man who showed his emotions openly.

Because we're family.

It died on her tongue. Asuka could barely talk to him, let alone look him in the eye for longer than a second.

"In case I fight 'im in the tournament." A shallow answer, sharp tongued in case her hardened exterior could be hacked away by sincerity. For a moment, Asuka paused, as if she were trying to sew together the right words. "... I wanna be able t' understand 'im, y'know? ... we're cousins an' all bu' I know squat 'bout 'im." And one of the only ways to truly know someone, in her experience, was to exchange blows.

If Jin moved too much, the place would become more unstable, which implied everything would fall on them and bury the two unfortunates under tons and tons of rocks. ❝Yeah, you'd better stand still. But keep breathing❞ Leo pulled Jin again and his body moved away from the crack of another inch. And the noise they had heard before echoed once again in that moment. It instantly dawned on the spelunker that it was pointless to try free him carefully as the rock would fall anyway. He couldn't push him out of the cave as he was already deep inside, so the only way was to pull him further in... and it had to be done quickly.

❝Okay. Try to shake free if you can. You have to get yourself out of there, 'kay?❞ He said by keeping pulling the other man.

Jin's eyes dart around his surroundings, but he isn't sure why, it's not as if the surrounding rock can help him. Maybe it's a way to distract himself from panicking. Which Leo told him to do, but Jin wasn't sure how easy it is to keep calm, he's not familiar with predicaments he can't solve by fighting.

The dubbed ' God of Fight ' couldn't kill him, Kazuya & Heihachi Mishima couldn't kill him, the Devil within couldn't kill him, but spelunking might. How embarrassing would that be ? His eyes squint shut, thinking about the shame only worsened the anxiety.

❝ Uh . . . is it better if I stay still or does that only apply to quicksand ? ❞

Leo looked away from the TV screens when he heard someone calling him by name. Before that, he was checking the tournament news to see the results of the recent matches. He was suprised to notice that he was being approached by no one else but Asuka Kazama.

❝Correct. You're... Asuka. Right?❞ He said by turning towards her and pointing a finger to the girl. The young man was even more surprised by that question. He didn't know what Asuka could use that piece of information for, but probably it was personal curiosity. The spelunker supposed she wanted to get to know Jin Kazama before getting on his side, as Leo had done. He sligthly tilted his head on the right and said: ❝Oh. That's a peculiar question. Why are you interested in it, if I may ask?❞

"Hey uh, Leo, righ'?" A social butterfly, Asuka never claimed to be, but stubborn, that's something she'd never deny.

There was no such thing as insincerity for Asuka, her heart and her fists were honest. Her father had done a good enough job in instilling that much in her. So when something didn't make sense to her, it made sense for a headstrong girl to try to go straight to the source.

What happens when the source was nowhere to be found?

Xiaoyu was unwilling to divulge anything that would upset Jin. Hwoarang was irritating. Leroy and Lars were by the book. Alisa could only point to the last person that fought Jin prior to his entry into the tournament, when he was at his arguably lowest point: Leo.

Well... that was unexpected. The young man approached to JIn slowly by raising the torch and pointing it at him. He had already realised that he was stuck but wanted to check how much severe the situation was and if he could be released easily. WIth a close look, Leo could say that the reason for that unpleasant event was Jin's body dimensions, especially the torso: it was very muscular and had got stuck between two rocks. The spelunker placed a hand on the other man's shoulder and shook it gently. He didn't move at all but with more strenght he could release him from there. Ok Leo, just relax. It's important to appear calm. It's not a problem.

❝Alright Jin, don't worry. I'm gonna free you, so keep calm'❞ By using much more strenght than before, Leo shook Jin again with the result of moving his body, even though it was a slight movement. At the same time, a weird noise echoed in the environment and it didn't foretell anything positive, which meant it was better getting out of that situation as soon as possible. ❝Verdammt...!❞ He murmured as he pulled the other man.

Leo was reading all of the available pieces of data very carefully. He had a serious expression on his face and was focused on getting the most details he could. Niklas' file was full of juicy stuff such as a complete list of discoveries he had done in the past (Leo was even in the dark about some of them), his experience in the field, all his degrees and even a detailed address which the young man recognised to be his old house position. The idea his family could had been monitored in the past by that corporation was so frightening he could feel a shiver running through his spine. Judging by the pieces of information reported in the files, the Mishima Zaibatsu was after the archaeologist and the last sighting had occured recently. A terrible thought crossed his mind and Leo quickly checked Niklas' status: he was still missing. The spelunker took a sigh of relief.

❝They've been after my father for so many years... Now I do understand why he disappeared❞ Leo whispered by staring at the screen emotionless. The files contained useful details and GPS coordinates which could help Leo tracking down his father. If he was still alive, he was likely hiding somewhere hidden and it didn't hurt to try. The young man raised his face and looked at Lars with a serious and determinated expression. In that moment, he was fueled by hope and motivation; his hands were trembling slightly but he managed to keep composure. WIth a calm but self-confident voice, Leo asked: ❝I need a copy of these files. The ones regarding my father. If they were searching him in the past, it's because he surely had found something important they wanted to keep secret❞

“I don’t know for sure, but his official profile states a date of death. I can only assume he perished from the treatments like the other children.” One of the many skeletons in the Zaibatsu’s closet.

“Your mother has complaints on her file about being too emotionally invested in the subjects. I don’t blame her for leaving after the last child died.” Lars of course, had no idea Emma had actually falsified the child’s passing.

The commander took notice of Leo’s sudden change in behaviour, as though he had picked up on something new.

“What..?”

Lars pivoted on his chair, following where the young man’s eyes were fixated: the name Niklas Kliesen, with Leo filling in the link shortly after. He was obviously shocked and aggravated that the conglomerate also had intel on his father.

“Seems he was poking his nose somewhere he shouldn’t have been. With Heihachi dead, I think it's safe to say he's off their hitlist.”

Leo stared at the man in case he got aggressive. Fortunately he gave up fairly quickly and went away. However, the German boy kept following him with the gaze until he got far away and disappeared around the corner of a building. The young man did a deep sigh and looked back at the girl.

❝No need to apologise. You did the right thing. I'm just happy the situation didn't get worse❞ He replied by smiling. Leo suddenly looked at the ground when he realised the cup of coffee wasn't in his hand anymore. It was near his feet, and the brown drink was spilling out: unfortunately, the plastic lid had detached because of the fall. Even though he was a little disappointed for that at the beginning, he quickly reminded himself that that cup of coffee could've been a dead or damaged person. Therefore, he felt relieved that nobody got hurt. However, when the girl proposed to buy him the cup of coffee to repay for the damage, Leo shaked his head in response and exclaimed:

❝You don't have to! It's not a problem!❞ He raised his hands and showed an awkward yet cute smile.

❛   yes  ,  my  dear  ,   I  am  glad  to  have  found  you  .  .  .  !!   ❜   you  feel  awful  :  you  didn’t  want  to  drag  the  individual  into  this  situation  ,  but  you  reasoned  that  if  the  persistent  man  saw  that  you  were  involved  with  someone  else  ,  then  he’ll  leave  you  alone.   it  seemed  he  got  the  message  ,  especially  when  the  blonde  asked  the  question  of  your  knowing  him.  ❛   I  do  not  ,  it  appears  he  is  a  fan  of  mine  that  wanted  to  ask  me  out  on  a  date  ,  I  had  to  let  him  know  that  I  am  already  seeing  someone.   ❜   eyes  downcast  ,  you  do  not  meet  the  man’s  stare  ,  but  you’re  certain  he’s  glaring  holes  into  your  skin.  with  a  suck  of  his  teeth  ,  the  man  turns  to  leave,  but  not  before  spitting  out  an  ‘  ah  ,  whatever  ,  bitch  ’  whilst  making  his  exit.

you  couldn’t  help  the  gasp  that  escaped  your  lips.  to  your  knowledge,  you’ve  never  been  called  anything  so  demeaning  before. 

with  a  weighted  sigh,  you  look  back  towards  the  blonde  and  bow.  ❛   thank  you  very  much  ,  I  apologize  for  that.  I  know  that  was  quite  an  awkward  position  to  be  put  in.  ❜   looking  back  towards  the  ground,  you  cup  your  mouth  with  the  palm  of  your  hand  upon  noticing  the  spill  on  the  pavement.  ❛   oh  no  .  .  .   !!   did  I  do  that  ?!   I  am  so  ,  so  sorry  !   please  let  me  get  you  another  one   !   ❜

The young blonde man was walking on the pavement, by whistling vivaciously. In his left hand he was holding a cup of delicious black coffee, whom he was drinking by taking little sips during his relaxing stroll. It was a late afternoon, and the sun was shining with an orange-like light, by getting ready to set. His calm and quiet moment was disturbed by the presence of a young girl, who had wrapped him in a big hug. Out of surprise, Leo dropped the cup of coffee and startled. If it hadn't been for the girl's distress call, Leo would have turned and complained to her. However, instead of doing that, Leo turned around and showed off his acting skills, hoping they would be enough to convince the stalker they were friends or something more. He really wanted to avoid a fight if possible.

❝Who the- Oh! Hey, it's you!❞ He exclaimed by hugging back the other girl. ❝How are you doing?❞ After making the question, Leo looked over the stranger and said:

❝Do you know him?❞

this was probably one of the most insane things you’ve done , but you became desperate and wanted the creepy guy away from you. they kept pestering and insisted on asking if you were single or taken and trying to solicit you for a date. frantically, you hide behind the first person you see ––– a blond-haired individual who seems to just be walking down the street and heading to whatever destination. trying not to appear too shaken up, you start the act.  ❛   g-gomen , as you can see , I am indeed involved with another.    ❜    as if you were hugging the blonde from behind in an embrace , you whisper ,   ❛   my apologies , if you could please play along , this guy has been following me everywhere and it made me severely uncomfortable.  ❜  ( @thegermanspelunker. )
