To get through winter I've been trying to lay some energy on my inside garden, so to speak. I've become more interested in house plants since I started to work more with the outside garden.
Apparently I'm a Begonia person now. Within a week I've bought two, my first ones. Thanks to Pinterest I've become aware of the big variation of Rex Begonias out there - and their true awesomeness. The second photo is a small iridescent dark red Rex Begonia. I forgot to ask what variety it is, but I'm guessing it's a 'Harmony's Red Robin'. First photo is a cool planter I thrifted for the small Begonia. The third photo is the second Begonia, it's bigger and called 'Magic Colours'. Look at that spiral!
I'm also trying to take care of forgotten plants around the house. I made a small spider web trellis for the two Golden Pothos. Maybe a bit too small - might make a bigger one later.
I love Saint Paulia (or African Violet)! We always had a few when I grew up. Thanks to Pinterest, again, I've learned that there's a huge amount of varieties of these too - there's so many beautiful I could cry. Last year I got a big one with dark violet flowers with white curly edges ('Hawaii II' maybe). I found one lonely verigated leaf on it and decided to try to propagate it to see if the baby would get verigated leaves. No luck yet, but I am extremely happy that I actually managed to propagate it like this! First time ever! (Sixth photo) The fifth photo is a Saint Paulia I got a few weeks ago, probably 'Iceberg'.
Seventh photo is my favourite among all of the house plants - my Sarracenia, my baby! I bought it a couple of years ago with no expectations. But it was surprisingly easy to care for! Lots of sun and lots of water. I just love it! Want to try to get hold of some Pitcher plants.
Last photo is just a new plant light I got. My partner Robbie wanted coffee plants and we thought they might want so more light. Remember we live in Sweden, zone 3, so there's not much sun during winter here. - Which is also why I need "plant therapy" this time of year.

It's been a while - unless you've been following me on Instagram.
Spring is early here in Sweden, we kind of skipped winter all together. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Very much looking forward to this energetic time of year.
Here are my new natural rubber RootCoah from Plastic Free Gardening waiting for seeds. Gonna make a big order today! 💚
Hoping to make a video about these later when I start my seeds in them.

Oh! Almost forgot! I got myself a Chocolate Cosmos! The name says it all, but if you haven't heard of them; they smell like chocolate and, well, look at them! 🍫💀
I tried starting them from seed myself but nothing happened. 🤔
I put down some Zinnia seeds ('Queeny Lime Red') around it in the same big pot, it will look amazing!

Successful kale, so far...
So when it comes to growing kale from seed I've had thumbs black as the cold nothingness of death through the years. I've always ended up buying plants and even then things haven't gone all that well (hear me ranting about pests here: https://youtu.be/WNCH87NgvK8).
I've always done trouble shooting and tried doing things differently the next time I've tried. Like this year I bought growing lights (https://www.instagram.com/p/BwFaIOoh8A6/?igshid=t1je26meivuk). I also tried germinating some seeds outside, unprotected.
I have no idea what went wrong with the kale under the light inside, they look like shit. BUT the ones I germinated outside are GORGEOUS! Look at them!
Today it was time to replant them. I got three healthy little friends and I hope I can keep my fingers green with these. 💚

Finally sorted the pumpkin patch! Really hoping there will be no sudden frost nights! I've covered them with row covers and I'm hoping the grass cuttings will help too if it gets colder. Don't ask me what the hell I'm doing. 👻

Apparently this li'l guy, the leopard slug (Limax maximus, literally "biggest slug"), eats the bad slugs. So welcome to the garden, friend! 🖖

Pulling up a few of the parsnips I saved over winter. I had no idea they would just keep growing again like this! They're a wee bit soft on the outside and they started growing more tiny roots, but they're good to eat! 💚
