Met Gala Favorites
My first curated post! So I'm definitely rusty but let's get into it.
The Met Gala was about 2 weeks back so the hype has definitely cooled down but I'm pacing myself + life. I'll be honest this time around looking at the looks and comparing it to the theme I had a bit of a hard time seeing the correlation for a few of pieces. Other than that it felt like people saw the word "garden" in the theme and thought "florals"and that was it. It was overwhelming and mixed in some outfits that just didn't seem speak to the theme at all."The Garden of Time”
I got bored and itchy after a while going through the list on vogue, of 263 outfits I only managed to get to 21 that I liked without getting to the end of the list. I suppose I was looking for looks that told a story over just a dress or a suit for a gala.
Enough complaining though lets get to my fave looks.

1. Jessica Biel in Tamara Ralph SS24 & Cartier

I loved both the styling and the dress itself, it's giving a flower in bloom. I think the only change I'd make styling wise would be to do an up-do or a shorter hair style so you'd be able to see the cartier neck piece. It's hidden under her hair hiding the full look with the accessories. It's a shame to hide such a statement piece it would have brought the whole fit full circle.
2. Teyana Taylor in The Blonds

I'm absolutely in love with the color and construction of the gown. The florals weren't overwhelming and reminded me if a rose were made directly into a dress this is what it could look like. Honestly, originally I though Doja would have worn something similar to this as mentioned in my post above but as I said people and style is always changing. Teyana ate this look up, I love the styling.
3.Kerry Washington in Oscar De La Renta
Tumblr media
The dress was just *chefs kiss!* Not only was the color just impeccable on Ms. Washington but the construction and fit beyond perfection. The dress itself was statement enough especially with that deep v and floral trail of violet. She didn't have to do much besides bring herself, definitely a true definition of wearing the dress and not the dress wearing you.
(Oscar De La Renta is a fav for me)
4. Mindy Kaling in Gaurav Gupta
Tumblr media
This dress was absolutely gorgeous and the styling was perfect too 😍. The name of the dress as I've come to find is "melting flower of time" which I can totally see. I loved both.
5. Pamela Anderson in Oscar De La Renta
Tumblr media
I loved the dress more than the styling, however pamela wore this beautifully. ❤️
6. Tyla in Balmain
Tumblr media
The design on this was very interesting, loved the sand features and the hour glass hand bag. Styling was on spot, though I think a slick back hair style would have done well.
7. Elle Fanning in Balmain & Cartier
Tumblr media
The gown was a fairy tale come to life! The styling was on point not over the top, beautiful all around. I loved the birds pulling on the gown shoulders. loved this!
8.Giovanna Englebert in Swarovski
Tumblr media
Styling was great! Beautifully done ❤️
8.Anok Yai in Swarovski
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bodysuit was gorgeous but the showstopper was Anok 🥹
9. Imman Hamman in Swarovski
Tumblr media
Loved the styling and the color selection was perfect!
I made this post and the written portions shorters as to move on to over posts. Looking forward to the next gala and having a more concise post.
Next Post coming up will be old hollywood Outfits.

Fashion Foundations Project: FIT
I've started the Fashion Styling Foundations Course for FIT through Yellowbrick about 2 months ago and I'm loving it so far. My first project was to create a mood board for an event for a person of my choice. I chose Doja Cat for the Met Gala themed "Garden of Time" and she definitely went in a different direction than what I expected. Which is fine, style changes and changes to narrative, mood, moment, person either way here's my moodboard :)
Tumblr media
Im not sure how clear it will be visually but I've made a link to the board.
Other than that, I'll be making a post about the met gala outfits and my faves. It won't be this week because I'm going to Jamaica for a week and I'm long overdue to get away. So keep an eye out the following week once i get organized.

New Life, New Beginnings!
I'm the millennial fashionista! I've been on tumblr for a very long long time, my last fashion blog was 12 years ago and my "serious" one was 8 years ago I've pushed my passion by the wayside and lost it on the way. Now I'm older, learned some things, had some major changes in my life and it's led me to pushing myself to rediscover it.
I've started a certification course with my dream college FIT and I'm so excited to see how it'll go when I pour as much energy and effort into my true love as opposed to just working for someone else and pouring into their loves.
I'll be posting my works here, my new style discoveries, reviews on fashion lines, trends, the works. I haven't been this excited in over 7 years and since I bought my first ipad several months ago.
Looking forward to sharing with you all :)
