i want to live in the world where dragon age inquisition got to have the in-depth strategy / political organization sim elements bioware obviously wanted it to have where your decisions in managing the inquisition actually meant anything for how it operates and had effects on the game world. sadly we live in the universe where art needs to make profit

personally, if i were the hero of ferelden trying to find a cure to the calling, my first port of call would be the wilds flower that saved my tainted dog in ostagar. but what do i know!

There’s a lot of contradictory things about Solas but one of them that is endlessly amusing to me is how he is simultaneously well mannered but also an absolute dick.
When an Orlesian noble throws a glass of wine in his face, he handles the situation so well it impresses Josephine, he’s kind of a stickler for only calling people by their hard-earned titles, and somehow earns the reputation throughout Skyhold as being mild-mannered (LMFAO).
But then he also says ‘fuck you suck a wolf dick’ (depending on how you want to translate it) directly to Sera’s face, picks fight with Bull on the regular, goes for Vivienne’s throat nearly every time they talk, and tells the inquisitor that he genuinely believes their entire race are so barbaric that they’re barely people.
So there are two possibilities: One, the reason that he is able to be fuckin savage and just downright rude is BECAUSE he’s genuinely well versed in proper manners and politeness and therefore knows very well what isn’t, or Two, there is a separation in his mind between Courtly Manners and Real Life Interpersonal Manners and he just genuinely doesn’t realize how some of the things he says sound because they’re not part of ~The Game~ and I can’t decide which one is more funny.

If dragon age writers weren't cowards they'd make Thedas ripe with misandry based on the Chantry's beliefs and Alistair wouldn't be able to ascend to the throne without marrying a woman first 😒
And if you aren't playing a female Cousland specifically you'd NEED Anora...( For the record I think she actually wasn't a good ruler and that adds so much spice to this. Especially if you play as Tabris - an elf who suffered under her rule. )

Honestly just wanna get together with a small group of people that are also interested in dragon age and make a collaborative story featuring all of our ocs as if they were companions in a dragon age game and we're fleshing out the story before making a game (just a fun lil writing thing)

Honestly there's no one I'd rather be on a forced saving-the-world road trip with than the origins gang. Sorry kotor companions sorry bg3 companions but no one does it like the origins gang. They are a family they are insane they are not to be fucked with they never would have been friends if they were given a choice in the matter. The perfect road trip squad.
They consist of the best dog in thedas, the worlds most royal himbo, a demi-god shapeshifting witch, a bisexual assassin nun, a bisexual assassin orphan, a powerful spell-slinging grandma living on borrowed time (who is bffs with a spirit), a giant spy man who doesn't know how to function by himself, the worlds grossest dwarf, and a giant statue that has a life goal to kill all birds.

I was always so baffled by guys who said they accidentally had sex with Zevran while playing DAO.
What kind of accident is that???
I can maybe believe in never talking to him and not picking up on the fact that he's bi (although that's a REALLY hard one to miss), and maybe I can believe that during the whole "Antivan massage" dialogue some people just outright agreed without asking him if there's going to be something besides the massage, but how the fuck do you hear the words "massage skills that one only learns growing up in an Antivan whorehouse" and it DOESN'T raise any flags?
They say we men don't pick up on hints very well, but it's not even picking up at this point, it's reaching your hand out, slipping and falling flat on your face.
My friend had a theory that they were just blindsided by the offer of a free massage. You know, as you get older, all the hypodynamic shit starts catching up to you, the stiffness, the lumbago. Maybe some got overexcited at the prospect.

i just threw out my art with no real explanation but heres a bunch of my theories
1. Andraste is not a blond waifish lady, Mythal was the blond mysterious lady in art
The two actual figures are not related, just the imagery got placed on Andraste at some point.
2. The Maker is Elgar'nan, but no one really knows
- Human History does not have records pre-Veil
- The sun motifs. elgar'nan is also associated with the sun, fatherhood, "eldest of the sun" and "he who overthrew his father" (dalish legends say he literally was born from the sun)
- "With the aid of Mythal and his parents, Elgar'nan remade the world."
tying in with the first theory, adds to the confusion between the two "wives" of both identities. (either he subtly encouraged it, or mythal herself did, who knows) but andraste very much was a human. v possible he can only appear in dreams BC he's trapped in the fade. Also why there may be multiple claims of having been chosen by the maker.
if elgar'nan was a spirit, belief in him may strengthen him. so "when the chant of light is sung across all corners of the world" he may become so empowered as to be able to tear down the veil from his side, or simply reenter the world to rule it once again.
additional notes
Elgar: Spirit
Elgara: Sun
Elvhen: "our people"
Vhenan: heart
not sure the precise meanings of "el" / "vhen" / "nan" but theres something there to indicate what elgar'nan may mean

just think.. how much fun we would have had.. how much bark we would have chewed .. how many jokes and japes we would have shared.. the possibilities.. the opportunities.. if Solas had just sent Felassan to the Inquisition to carry out his work in his place instead..

let it also be said that I love the Mahariel + Lavellan worldstate. It's so haunted. You are Dalish, you are not a part of human culture, but by happenstance you're dragged into it and to the forefront of hell to save a world that hates and fears your people. You have no choice. You can never return to your home, to the familiar, to anything you've ever known. You will be an echo; Mahariel echoing Garahel, Lavellan echoing Mahariel. You're so proud of your Dalish heritage, but your identity doesn't matter at all. Doomed to be a martyr for a people that do not respect you and cannot understand you, while your clan mourns, lamenting that they cannot bury you, no life-tree to stand as your memory. You're a hero. You're already dead. You died the moment you left your clan.

there are other reasons i’d like to rewrite inquisition so that the inquisition is the antagonistic force our heroes are working against, but one of the really primary reasons is how it retroactively makes all the companions so much more attractive

it’s like this
cassandra in da2 desperately trying to find hawke so they could become inquisitor, despite them in the vast majority of playthroughs being an active opponent of the chantry’s interests, and otherwise having a pretty shoddy track record as a leader: stupid
cassandra in da2 desperately trying to find hawke to use as a powerful voice or, failing that, an example to make, in order to quell the mage rebellion and placate the templars before the divine is “forced” to declare an inquisition, only to be forever changed as she discovers the full story, eventually becoming someone unable to serve the inquisition when it’s begun, but still questioning her decision and blaming her own failures and varric’s concealment of hawke for not stopping things from getting to this extreme, because she has yet to fully accept the chantry’s responsibility for all that’s happened: yay!
