100% It’s hard I know-
The best thing I ever did was hide my likes on Instagram. I never go into the professional dashboard or look at my insights on individual posts
Instead I’ve saved a few screenshots of meaningful comments or messages from people talking about my artwork & about 10-15 familiar faces who always like, comment, occasionally chat with me or ask me how I’m doing. Whenever I share stories or posts.
I pay attention to those moments of meaningful engagement whenever I feel that anxiety about it getting enough visibility or being hidden by the algorithm. Which honestly they’re worth so much more than how many likes a post gets.
Small artists you need to understand that when you see an artist who you think has 'made it' tells you not to worry about the numbers and to not fret about getting more likes than reblogs they are not telling you it because they think you are stupid for caring or because they dont need to network to survive they are very likely telling you that because they have witnessed first hand the way the numbers game tears people to shreds in terms of mental health and motivation

There is something that I’m so excited about that I’ll be announcing soon!!
If you want a little hint look at my latest 3 illustrations I’ve shared on this blog!! ✨
I absolutely loved making all of them- but especially the hidden objects drawings. Fun fact. Every single item I drew was freehand from memory. 🌈🪩🌻🌸🍄🪲✨🍓

If you need it for your back, I would actually recommend just using a handled round hairbrush- it's what I started using after my spinal injury. You can find some with silicone backs, too.
Thanks! I saw your other ask too!
I'm going to use it for t-gel- for my upper arms. & I felt like all the long handled ones would be awkward- especially the ones I kept finding that were like 1 foot long handles. or the tiny precise spatulas for face masks.
I'm not sure if it exists - but I feel like it should. I know I've seen face scrubbers, dry brushes, scalp massagers like it. There should be a smooth/non textured option too for lotions.

Does anyone like searching for things? Could you help me find a silicone lotion applicator that looks like this - but isn't a scrubber - it's smooth. I have no idea what to call this shape. All the smooth lotion applicators I can find have super long handles or are like tiny spatulas & I feel like this shape would work best.
Thanks!! Searching for things makes me so overwhelmed & irrationally angry. So if its your favorite thing to do I'd appreciate it. (amazon or like a major store that ships to the US is preferred)

Another thing to take advantage of is office hours. If you don’t understand the assignment, if you want to talk it through first to make sure you’re on the right track. Most professors have no one show up to office hours & it’s so useful. & it helps them know you’re serious & want to learn. it may help you if you need an extension later.
& don’t forget about research librarians! I didn’t learn my school had them until my last year!! Omg it would have made my life so easier.
You literally can go to your library, schedule a meeting with a librarian give them a few search key words or your thesis statement & they will give you 5-10 relevant primary & secondary sources that they’ve found.
it's so fucking frustrating to be in college and know everyone uses chatgpt and to be tempted by it constantly while also knowing intellectually that it doesn't work and it's a bad idea. like, i hang out in the library a lot, and i see people using chatgpt on assignments almost every day. and i know it isn't a good way to learn, because it's not really "artificial intelligence" so much as it is an auto text generator. and it gives you wrong information or badly worded sentences all the time. but every week i stare down assignments i don't want to do and i think man. if only i could type this prompt into a text generator and have it done in 10 minutes flat. and i know it wouldn't work. it wouldn't synthesize information from the text the way professors want, it wouldn't know how to answer questions, it just spits out vaguely related words for a couple paragraphs. but knowing my classmates get their work done in 10 minutes flat with it while i fight every ounce of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in my body is infuriating.
