I contemplated what Zaffre would look like with a moustache. Along the line I rediscovered the fact that they do not need to have a grin taking up half their skull to be recognisable.

So then I was like “what if brown Zaffre” and I think it turned out p well (I have a longstanding fondness for character designs with brown skin and brightly colored hair)
also in the pencils Zaffre’s facial expression was like “PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN AWAKE FOR SO LONG THEY NO LONGER HAVE BOUNDARIES” but it looks less terrifying in ink and marker

Today I had the pleasure of making genuine ultramarine blue oil paint. The pigment, powdered lapis lazuli, creates one of the most sought after blue paints in all of art history. It is a paint that Vermeer used extensively.
While I’m not going to share the paint (it’s expensive!), I will share these nearly pornographic photos of the the paint-making process.
