Alright then, let's go back to kamui!
This might turn out to be more of a character analysis than a fight analysis. It's about something I've seen people discuss on reddit and in youtube comment threads where bros get upset over which character is the most powerfullest of them all. I couldn't care less about power levels but I do care about intention, so that's where this is going.
The question discussed is: "Did Obito let Kakashi win?" and the answer is: "Yes."
Obito had a curse tag on his heart and needed it removed. When he brought Kakashi into Kamui he outright stated that he was waiting for an opportunity to do so. He planned for them to have that fight and planned for Kakashi to strike his heart. I think this is pretty much agreed on by most people out there but some might disagree or have other theories. Anyway, at this point in time Obito is so ridiculously overpowered that if he really wanted Kakashi dead he could have had him dead. Obito needed him though, because there is nobody that can punch the heart out of people like Kakashi can <3
There was no way Kakashi could have ever talked Obito over at this point. He was long gone and had clear goals in mind. He most likely knew exactly how Kakashi would react and what he'd choose to do in the end too. He needed Kakashi to kill him and to kill him right. All that talking about holes? The big hole illusion in his chest? The genjutsu chidori-to-the-heart rehearsal? Just really making sure Kakashi knows where to aim once it's time.
The angry reddit bros seem to use Obito's end goal as proof that Kakashi is weak and bad at fighting and never would have stood a chance against Obito. Either that or they say the fight seemed even "for the plot" (the word 'plot' is used in a derogatory fashion in these discussions for some reason)
The bros don't get it though. Obito wanting Kakashi to win in the end doesn't mean the fight itself isn't real.
The thing I find most beautiful about this fight is how they seem to have an agreement before they even begin. They signal their intentions, going into hand-to-hand combat just like when they were kids and they use the same jutsu that they knew back then. Obito could have used one of his monster katon's and just immolated Kakashi unless Kakashi had the chakra to pull up a much bigger wall, but they don't do that. They keep it small and familiar and intimate because this is so, so personal to them.
Despite all his trickery and manipulation, Obito keeps this fight as fair as he would have as a kid. I mean, they both use tricks on each other because they're ninja but you know what I'm getting at. I don't think Obito is faking anything at all when he's getting punched and kicked around. He's a great actor so who could say for sure but I don't think this is acting. I think this is him enjoying a one-on-one fight as himself with the guy he always wanted to beat fairly as a kid. Obito being Obito one last time before he finally gives himself and his humanity up completely.
Could he have destroyed Kakashi in this fight? Yeah, most probably. He had some sick powers and what seemed to be unlimited chakra. Maybe he yearned for one last fair fight somewhere in his very distorted sense of self but what we do know is:
He didn't use them because he needed Kakashi alive.
He needed Kakashi alive to do one thing: Chidori-to-the-heart.
After that Kakashi could die.
Kakashi should die.
Right?
Strange.
Mr. Sharingan/Rinnegan over here is definitely seeing that lightning blade heading for his heart. He knows he's getting hit. It would have been a safe bet to take Kakashi out here in a fantastic double knock out but does he?
No. Obito aims for the armpit. He does not miss. He lets Kakashi live.
Why does Obito let Kakashi live? ("plot armor!" the reddit bros yell but they don't even like plot and would never understand) Obito reasons and Obito logic is the only answer. Why does Obito do the things he does? Nobody fucking knows, he's insane. I won't claim to have any answer to this one because I think it's one of the main things that makes this fight so interesting - Obito's feelings and intentions.
Leaving Kakashi to suffer with the consequences of his actions is always a safe bet...
We know Kakashi's intentions, because we hear his thoughts, and they are heartbreaking of course, because it's Kakashi. Obito forcing him to do this is so, so cruel. Rin and Obito joining together in the pure lands with matching 'suicide by unwilling friend'-tshirts. It's so messed up, I won't go there...

still thinking abt that gag in naruto where karui throws a rock at omoi & omoi's like. what if that rock you threw caused an avalance that destroyed konoha & it'd all be your fault & karui's like dont be STUPID this little rock wont do anything. & then they walk over the hill & konoha (post-pein attack) is all rubble
