At the orphanage, you had to look after yourself. Tom was no different. By sixteen, he’d developed a wide range of coping strategies that, more often than not, resulted in bloodied knuckles and chain-smoking in back alleys that smelled like piss. And of course there was the occasional drunken speech by the Thames. Or sometimes it meant hanging your best friend’s rabbit from the rafters if they turned out to be a traitor – really, you never know.
Now, though, he’s got Harry. And perhaps he’s going soft, like his boys kind of imply in their jokes (like it’s some kind of disease).
But these days, it’s more: silent cuddles beneath the blankets; stolen kisses on rain-slick rooftops; Harry’s initial carved on the shrapnels Tom won in fights.
Some days, it’s also: sharing a sundae on the front steps; a date at the soda shop; an afternoon spent sitting in the meadow with the sun on their faces, Tom free to rant about politics and racehorses, and Harry dozing off after a while, leaving a patch of drool on Tom’s shoulder …
And if this is what love does to you, Tom reckons there’s probably something in it after all.

A Jeverus fanfiction where Severus gets an internship with Fleamont over the summer after graduating Hogwarts.
While that goes on James is sure that Severus is trying to flirt with his dad to spite him for how he was treated by him in Hogwarts.
Severus is just being nice because this is a big opportunity for him + Fleamont is not an a-hole for no reason like his son and James gets jealous for it.
