Reading through “A Mathematician’s Lament” and stumbled on this quote.
Like the whole book is a revelation as to why I’m scared of solving the area of a regular polygon, but also it’s depressing because I have seen some of my former students go through the same anxiety I did and believe that math isn’t for them. Like. There’s a whole world out there for them! Math is beautiful but they will never get to see it because we cut out their chests before they had a chance to feel math the way it was meant to be felt!!

My one friend group can't stop saying, "See you in hell!" in a cheerful voice instead of, "Talk to you later!" and my other friend group can't stop calling things "penis" instead of "cool" or "good", so I just unironically uttered the phrase, "Sounds penis, see you in hell," as I got off the phone.

i was the first girl to get shrunk so small that they blew a bubble around me and i wasnt even big enough to break the tension in the soap and i floated away into the sky until it popped 100 meters up and i fell for what felt like years due to my low terminal velocity and when i hit the ground i wasnt even hurt and i joined an ant colony. since then ofcourse there have been many others.
