“KAPAMPANGAN’S BEST” By: Charm Flores
It is a common knowledge around the Philippines that Kapampangan natives, if not the best, are one of the best cooks in the country. Kapampanga Food Festival was held last December 09,2017 as a part of the celebration of the 446th Aldo Ning Kapampangan or commonly known as Pampanga Day. Kapampangan chefs showcased the native food and kapampangan dishes in this event including Pork Belly Bringhe,, Relyenong Batute, Asadong Dila, and Kalderetang Kambing, Camaro Taco, Pancit Luglug, Kilayin,Pako Salad, Bulanglang Soup Crispy Okoy, Sisig, Puto Bumbong, Duman Kalame, Mochi, Tibok-Tibok, Ensaymada, Sampelot, Buko Pandan, Lelot Mais, and Tsokolateng Batirol. These chefs are from Culinarya Pampanga, an organization of chefs in Angeles City. They had the honor of serving their signature dishes to none other than President Rodrigo Duterte during the event.
Many locals and foreign guests enjoyed the sumptuous feast.
Kapampangan’s exceptional taste in terms of cooking cannot be just attributed by our long history with the Spaniards and Americans but also with purely Kapampangan ‘native talent’.
The Kapampangan Food Festival was initiated by the provincial government led by Governor Lilia Pineda along with Culinarya Pampanga to showcased the rich culinary heritage of the province. Sharing the tastes of the Kapampangan dishes to people around the Philippines is also to show them why Pampanga is dubbed as the Culinary Capital of the country

“The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shuts down rappler by revoking its resignation” By: Pristine Clay T. Colis
Tumblr media
Screenshot courtesy of  Securities and Exchange Commission revokes Rappler Inc.'s registration by Sun.Star Philippine news on Scribd.
President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned in his State of The Nation Address last July 24, 2017 that Rappler is “fully owned by Americans”. It was, however, denied by Rappler saying "Philippine Depositary Receipts (PDRs) do not indicate ownership. This means our foreign investors, Omidyar Network and North Base Media, do not own Rappler,"
Foreign Equity Restriction states that "ownership and management of mass media shall be limited to citizens of the Philippines, or to corporations, cooperatives or associations, wholly-owned and managed by such citizens."
The president also regarded Rappler as a “fake news outlet” during the inauguration of a new air traffic management system in Pasay City just a day after the news about Rappler’s shut down went out.
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, however, declared its full support to Rappler and all other independent media outlets that the state has threatened to shut down due to its opposition with the President’s rule. “We call on all Filipino journalists to unite and resist every and all attempts to silence us” was said in a tweet posted by NUJP last January 14, 2018. In an article published by Rappler on January 16, 2017, it was issued that Rappler may still continue its operations while the decision in revoking its license is “not yet final and executor”.

“Side effects of Dengvaxia is expected ‘not true’ by Pampanga guv” By: Jamaine David
The third and final doses of Dengvaxia were distributed earlier this year to 32,210 students under the division of Pampanga, 6,855 pupils in the division of Angeles City, and 4,691 pupils in the division of City of San Fernando, according to a report stated by the Provincial Health Office.
Sanofi, the vaccine manufacturer, has exposed that dengue could be “severe” among those who had never been ill of the mosquito-borne disease but were given Dengvaxia shots.
Governor Lilia Pineda was alarmed and hopes that the reported side effects of dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia, are erroneous. Pineda wanted the government to clear the controversy as soon as possible to provide relief to parents of children who were already given an anti-dengue vaccine and to lessen their worries about it. She also said that at the very beginning, she was already hesitant about the vaccine being brought to Pampanga. According to Pineda, even the Chinese ambassador she met recently who heard the news about the dengue vaccine shares that Dengvaxia is not really necessary. It can be prevented by cleaning the surroundings. “I hope that it is not true that after one year, side effects will manifest. Sana, hindi totoo iyon kasi andyan na, eh. It was already administered. I just really hope it’s not true at mali iyung ginawa nila,” Pineda added.
