The song is a beautiful sequence of figures:
It goes from the cold of the night when the “castle crumbled” and everyone was dissing her;
passes through the image of these windows still “boarded back up after the storm”, while he “built a fire” just to keep her warm;
ends up with the two of them laughing and “making forts under covers” where noone can see.
So the giant castle everyone could see falling down into pieces is now a small, intimate, happy beautiful fort that nobody can break anymore.
And everything really started that day, late November when they didn’t know what that was, but she knew she wanted him in her life cause he made her feel like she was “brand new”.
So, holding her breath, she slowly said “you don’t need to save me, but would you run away with me?”
And he said “Yes”.
