HATE THAT I LOVE YOU || part 3
mean!ryomen sukuna x fem!reader
Tumblr media
It's already a part of Sukuna's personality to be mean, always throwing insults at every person he finds annoying here and there. And you were no exception. You ran after him like a lovesick puppy, happily smiling at his rejections, confessing to him multiple times how much you like him, and Sukuna wanted so much to strangle you for your persistence.
But when you stopped showing interest, maybe... just maybe, Sukuna didn't like the sound of it.

***
You don't remember anything that happened last night.
Waking up with a throbbing head and no memories of what occurred when you were drunk was not something you were happy about. You were still dressed in your last night's clothes, your heels discarded on the floor, a blanket being over your body the whole time you were sleeping. You didn't even know how you still got home or how you even ended up on the living room couch, assuming that maybe Nanami took care of you because of the text he sent last night.
2:17 PM
Nanami: I hope you slept comfortably. Drink some water when you wake up.
You smiled at his message. Nanami is surely the gentleman out of everyone in the band, he really never forgets to take care of everyone.
So when Monday comes by, you immediately look for Nanami to thank him personally. It was during lunch period when you caught sight of the person you've been wanting to see, and without further ado, you ran after him as you called out his name.
Unbeknownst to you, Sukuna was just a few steps behind when he found you talking to Nanami. And the words that escaped your mouth sent his blood levels high.
“Nanami! I wanted to say thank you for taking care of me last Friday night!”
“Friday night?”
“Yeah? I was really drunk, but I do remember someone taking me home. And you texted me that morning too, so I concluded it was you. Anyways, thank you so much–”
That's all Sukuna needed to hear as he walked right past the two of you, his eyes shooting daggers at everyone who walked in his way.
What he witnessed somehow left a bitter taste in his mouth. Like there's a poison corrupting his veins, eager to suffer him to death as he clenches his hand in a fist to restrain himself.
All Sukuna could do was walk away.
He couldn't accept how you dare to think that another man took care of you and drove you home. He couldn't believe how you're thanking another man right away, instead of clarifying who did what first, and he's just really going to hate you more for this.
“Wait, what do you mean?” Nanami asked you with an evident confused look on his face. After rambling about how you appreciated his act of concern towards you last Friday, you finally focused on him and saw how he looked clueless about the situation.
“You… took me home, didn't you? Because… I was really drunk…”
“Oh.” He nodded, now realising what you said. “It wasn't me, though.’
You were entirely confused by the situation now. Your feelings had tangled up in your mind and you don't know what to believe anymore when you saw Sukuna walking past you in the hallways.
The surroundings seem to quiet down as you focus your eyes on him. His figure, his stare, his inevitably handsome face. It's all coming back to you again. The beat of your heart, like a slow motion film everytime he walks by, and you feel like you're a teenager for these feelings.
You were about to open your mouth to talk to him, when he brushed you off so easily as he spared you no glance, walking right past your shoulder. Mouth agape, words left unspoken, mind wandering elsewhere, your cheeks blushed in embarrassment.
If he's the one who took you home after the party, then why is he not taking any credit for it?
Did he do it out of pity or something? Did he just feel bad to leave you alone in there?
You knew he didn't have any feelings for you, so maybe it is the latter. And after that, he doesn't care anymore where you thank him anymore, because that's just how he is.
Sighing, you clutched your bag in your hand and thought of another time to thank him still.
On the other side, Sukuna is mad mad. He doesn't even know why. He can't even explain it himself because he feels like it's nonsense.
It's like a feeling of wanting to throw a tantrum for all his bottled up feelings of anger at you, but if he did do such a thing, he'll come out whiny. Plus, only Yuji does that.
He just hates it. Everytime he looks at you, that anger starts becoming intense in some type of way. His hatred makes him want to lock you in his arms, and just… and just…
Why is he thinking about this anyway?
He hates you for your annoyance. For your persistence. For always smiling at everyone. For always making his day feel incomplete if you're not there.
He hates you even more for thanking Nanami for something he had done. And he wants to knock some senses in you at some point.
He hates how you've changed. How you're slowly fading away from him.
He hates how he's maybe starting to feel different about you now.
“You might pierce a hole in her head if you keep staring like that…” Yuji whispered close to Sukuna’s ear. Sukuna flinched, but immediately hit Yuji with his elbow, leaving the latter hissing in pain.
The football field was yet again full of people. Girls would walk over and say hi to Sukuna and Yuji to where they sat at the benches, and only Yuji would have the heart to flash them his cheeky smile. While Sukuna watches you who had been sitting a few seats far away, your back facing them, focused on whatever conversation you have with your friend.
“Tell me,” Yuji continues. “Are you starting to like her?”
Sukuna immediately turned his head to him with a glare. He scoffed, crossing his arms on his chest, “That's total nonsense, Yuji.”
Yuji shrugged as he stared at you as well. “Not to me… You look… troubled…”
“That… has nothing to do with that fool…”
Yuji laughs at his brother, shaking his head at his denial. “Whatever you say.”
This is it. This is the right time to finally talk to Sukuna.
You breathed heavily as you wiped your sweaty palms on your clothes. Your heart was thumping loudly on your chest as you stood right before the band's practice room door.
You've been looking for Sukuna the whole day and ended up asking Yuji where he was, and this is why you ended up here. The door seems to dread a dark presence before it, looming an ominous aura within, or maybe it was just you over exaggerating things.
You nervously twist the door, and there you see Sukuna on his usual seat, legs spread apart, his face resting on his palms as he had his eyes closed. You almost backed away after realising that he was sleeping, but stopped when he opened his eyes.
“O-oh I'm sorry, I didn't know you were asleep!” You panicked, bowing at him repeatedly for your mistake. “I'll leave–”
“Do you need anything?” His deep voice felt like thunder as it rang in your ears.
You purse your lips, feeling the heat rush to your face. You reluctantly nodded your head as you took a step inside the room, closing the door behind you.
“About last Friday…”
Sukuna raised an eyebrow as he stood up, taking a step forward as he placed his hands on his pocket. “What about it?”
“Y-yeah uhm… Thank you for… f-for…” You started stuttering, your hands shaking on your sides. Sukuna's eyes landed on them, which startled you to clasped your hands together instead to keep them still, but it didn't really help.
“Say it.” He demanded, and it made you even more nervous because he was staring at you too intently.
“L-last Friday night… I want to thank you for…” You take a breath to calm yourself down. “N-nanami said… you took me h-home?”
“Are you asking me if I did?”
You pinched your shaking hands, not expecting his question. “Y-yes? Did you…?”
“Tsk.” He took a step closer, reaching out to grab your shaky hands with one hand. “What's gotten into the sunshine brat I know, hmm?” He asks, staring at your shaky hands between his. “Nervous?”
“T-that’s not the question, Sukuna.”
“Alright then,” he let go of you, bringing his hands back to his pocket. “I did. Happy?”
You closed your eyes at his answer, your breathing becoming uneven as you opened them again. Sweat is starting to form on your neck, “Why?”
It was the question that had been running in your head for the whole time since Nanami told you that it was Sukuna. And you needed answers. At this instant.
“You were drunk,” Sukuna answered straightforwardly. “Did you want me to leave you alone?”
“N-no! B-but–”
“Don't put too much ideas in your head.”
Your heart skipped a beat.
The world seems to start crashing down, and that's all the answers you need.
What were you expecting anyway? That magically, Sukuna started to care for you just because he had the heart to act like a person towards you? That maybe, he started to realise that his feelings for you were never hatred but it turned into something deep?
No, that's impossible. Liking you the way you like him was never in Sukuna's vocabulary.
So what now?
“Right!” You nodded your head with a smile. “I wasn't thinking of anything! I really just wanted to thank you, that's all!”
Sukuna searched your eyes, trying to read you. But you quickly feigned your disappointment as you grinned at him.
“I just needed to confirm that. Thank you, Sukuna! I should get going now. I won't bother you anymore.” You waved him goodbye as you ran out of the room, and when he was finally out of sight, tears started rolling down your face.
Sukuna, on the other hand, just stared off into space from where you left.
He was… undoubtedly, regretting his words.

Top Secret Fiction Ch. 3
Grass Talks (Literally)
Katsuki Bakugou x Reader
Description: After meeting the one and only pro hero Dynamight on a dating app, you two begin to see each other. Because of the dangers that come with his hero work, you both promise to be completely honest with each other from the beginning; though you can't help but keep one big secret from him.
You write fan fiction, mostly about him.
Chapter Details: Soft, lowkey ooc Bakugou but thats bc I imagine him to be a lot more mellow as an adult. Little bit of a serious talk, but nothing crazy. Readers quirk is also mentioned
Word Count: 1k
Tumblr media
The date had been going well so far, and the sun was even beginning to set since now it was almost 7:00 pm.
You two were currently lying on your backs together, looking up at the sky filled with clouds, stomachs full of yummy food.
"That one looks like a giraffe, or something else with a long neck." You said point up at a cloud.
Bakugou hummed, "Nah, I think it's a flower or something. Don't you see the stem? And there's even petals around it."
Tilting your head at a different angle, you tried to see what he saw.
"I don't see it! I thought I would, since I'm used to seeing flowers all the time..." You said while still looking up in wonder.
Bakugou sat up and rested his elbows on his knees, "That's right. You're a florist ain't you? What made you wanna do that?"
You stayed lying down and answered him, "Yeah, I've been a florist for a few years now. I chose it because of my quirk."
"What is your quirk anyways? Is it something with plants and all that crap?"
"Yep. I can talk to plants, so taking care of them is much easier and I love being able to help others that are struggling with their own plants."
Bakugou rubbed his hand along the grass, "So me doing this... is it hurting the grass?"
You closed your eyes and listened, hearing the grass ask what it was that was rubbing all over them.
"It's not hurting them, but they can feel it."
He pulled his hand away. "What about walking on the grass. Does that hurt 'em?"
"Sometimes it can. If you're walking normally, then no. But if you're stomping all over them, then yes it does hurt them." You said, finally sitting up and facing him.
You leaned over and ran your hand along the top of the grass very lightly, hearing the voice of the grass sigh at the feeling. You learned early on after developing your quirk that most plants actually enjoy being pet, if you can call it that.
"They like it when you do this to them. Just make sure you do it really gently." You said while showing him how to pet the grass.
He followed your directions with a grunt and did the same motion as you.
You laughed lightly, "Petting grass is kind of silly now that I think about it. I guess it's different since I know that the grass likes it."
He shook his head and pulled his hand away, "It's not. I think it's interesting. I have some plants at home, now I'm wonderin' if they're happy with me."
You giggled at that, "I'm sure they are. But thank you. I always felt like my quirk wasn't super useful since I couldn't be a hero, y'know?"
"You don't gotta be a hero to have a useful quirk. Everyone can find a way to use their quirk, trust me."
You smiled softly, "You know what, you're really sweet. You don't portray yourself like that on the media at all."
"I ain't sweet." He said looking away shyly.
"If you say soooo." You cooed.
He smirked lightly and looked at you, "Thanks for uh, being genuine by the way."
You furrowed your eyebrows, "What do you mean? Why wouldn't I be genuine?"
"I mean like, almost everyone I've met just wants to be with me because I'm a hero. It just makes dating a lot harder, I guess."
You frowned at his words. You knew there were people who were out for money, but to play with someone's feelings like that? That was just heartless. You knew Bakugou was a grown man and fully capable of handling himself, but you couldn't help but feel bad.
You place on of your hands on top of his and said, "I understand what you mean, and I want to let you know that I don't have any bad intentions at all."
"I won't lie and say I'm not a fan of you as a hero," You continued, "but right now I'm getting to know you as Bakugou. So I hope you'll continue to allow me to."
Bakugou genuinely smiled. No smirk, or sly remark following it. Just a smile.
"Thanks. That means more than you know. But on that same topic, I also wanted to talk to you about a boundary I have if we're going to continue seeing each other." He said seriously.
You nodded your head and listened attentively.
"Because of my line of work, I just ask that you be honest with me about things. I fuckin' hate liars in general, but I really need you to understand that I can't have someone around if they're gonna be keepin' secrets and shit." He said frowning, almost as if he was thinking of a particular person when speaking about liars.
You nodded and smiled. "I promise, I'll be completely honest with you. I really wanna keep seeing you and if that's all it takes then I'm willing to do it."
He grunted. "Good. Let's clean up now, I'll take you home."
Just as you were about to start cleaning up, your phone went off. You picked it up quickly and saw that it was an email, a notification from the site you write fan fiction on.
You bit your lip and thought about what Bakugou just said. Deciding to ignore the notification, you just continued to clean up.
...
After Bakugou had dropped you off back at home, you quickly changed into your pajamas and got comfortable.
You said goodnight to Cheerios and your plants, who said goodnight back.
When you got in bed, you looked through your emails and at the notifications from HeroFiction.com that you had received earlier.
You began to think about Bakugou's words again.
"I fuckin' hate liars."
You shook your head and tried to rid away any negative thoughts you had. This secret wasn't that big of a deal, and it was probably for the better that he didn't know.
Keeping one secret wouldn't hurt, right?

@itachisrealm 27 with sukuna... kisses 🥺❤️
Sukuna’s broad arm around your shoulder gently uses its hand to cup your jaw and pull you into a kiss, warm lips meeting yours in a manner that has you mewling happily. You strew your own arm across his body and curl into his side for another kiss, one he deepens eagerly.
“I love you,” you hum against him. Sukuna merely responds with a nibble of your lip, making you giggle softly.
The movie drones on in the back, but you’re curled more against him now, with your head on his shoulder and your legs over his lap, burrowed into his side while his hands cradle you close. Sukuna’s always been one to show his affection, rather than say it; he’s the textbook example of physical touch and quality time, not that you’ve ever complained.
“Hey,” he says again, a few minutes later. When you meet his eyes, he leans over to press another kiss to your lips, this time sweeter and more gentle than the prior. You hum happily before he pulls away with a kiss to your nose.
“You’re awfully affectionate right now,” you tease, relishing in the way he grumbles. “What did you do?”
“Can’t a man just be affectionate with his insignificant other?”
“You’re my non-statistically significant other,” you prod. “Besides- I don’t mind. I’m just not used to it.”
“Yeah, well… you know.”
“…no, I don’t.”
He groans and drops his head to rest in the curve of your neck, “I just… want… to be close to you right now. Savor it, it doesn’t happen often.” He presses small kisses to the base of your neck, warm hands splaying out over your hips to cradle you.
“Aww, honey,” you tease softly. He stiffens, and you’re quick to lace your fingers in his hair to soothe him. You could tease him further, make him blush more and be even more of a mess.
But you do love when he gets like this. It is rare that it happens, and you’d hate to ruin it with some silly teasing and nonsense that you don’t mean.
You turn your head to press a kiss to his temple, “I love you.”
“I love you.”

Kiss Cam
ProBaseballPlayer!Yuji x GN!Reader (Baseball AU)
Tumblr media
tags/warning: pure and gratuitous fluff, kiss cam trope, bad blind date turned good, pda (of course), idk anything about baseball so hope the references make sense lmao
summary: the kiss cam spotlights you and yuji takes his chance
~less than 1k
thanks for reading and enjoy<3
You don’t think there could have been anything more mortifying than the kiss cam landing on you and your catastrophically terrible date.
He had been ignoring you the whole time, too stoked that you had invited him to front row seats to the big Sorcerers vs. Curses baseball game. You honestly should have just gone alone, but you had wanted to be brave and take the idiot next to you, who your friend had blindly set you up with because “he also loved baseball and it would be absolutely perfect”.
In reality, he had been late and nearly spilled his beer on you every time he disagreed with the umpire’s calls. It also didn’t help that he was actually a fan of the Curses, not the Sorcerers, which was your favorite team. When you had broken the news to him, he had immediately booed and condescendingly patted your shoulder.
“That’s unfortunate. You’re super hot, but I can’t seriously date a Sorcerers fan. We’ll see how this goes though.”
Now, he was too engrossed in texting his friends live game updates to notice that the kiss cam was panned onto the both of you.
You tried to keep a calm smile plastered to your face as your fellow baseball fans loudly demanded a kiss. It was utterly humiliating, and your eyes began to water as your face fell. You shrank in your seat, attempting to cover your face when all of a sudden the entire stadium started cheering and you peeked through your fingers to see the Sorcerers' star player, Yuji Itadori, hopping the dugout fence and running across the field to get to you. His distant form was outlined in golden sunlight as he sprinted, and his knees still carried grass stains from playing.
“Don’t worry! I got you!”
He enthusiastically waved at you, clipping his baseball cap to a belt loop before quickly fixing his hair and scaling the concrete barrier that separated the front seats from the field.
You felt your chest swell with nerves and excitement, and your date finally looked up in shock when you stood up and leaned over the barrier to meet Yuji as he clung to the railing.
He didn’t seem winded at all, though you could see a sliver of his strong chest sheened with sweat from the top of his uniform being unbuttoned. Your heart beat rapidly at seeing one of your favorite baseball players in front of you, and a bright smile spread across his handsome face as he looked up at you. Rosy strands of hair were mussed around his forehead from the wind, and he raised the hand he wasn’t using to hoist himself up to caress your cheek. It was rough and calloused from the sport, but the touch was unexpectedly gentle.
“If he won’t kiss you, can I?”
The crowd was going wild, whistling and chanting ‘kiss him!’ as you absorbed his proposal.
“Yes.” You breathlessly acquiesced, laughing at his valiant efforts.
His smile widened at your answer, and he carefully grasped the side of your face before pulling you down into a tender kiss.
Although you were wholly unprepared, the kiss felt strangely familiar. His lips were devastatingly soft, and the uproar of the stadium became more distant as you both surrendered to the deepening kiss. It was as if you had been waiting to kiss each other your whole lives, and as the seconds slowly ticked by, you decided that you would never not want to be kissing him.
When you were nearly out of breath and forced to break apart, Yuji stared at you in awe, his light brown eyes helplessly fanning over your face and settling on your mutually dazed expression.
“Oh wow.”
The ruckus of those in the rest of the stands was deafening, and you turned to witness your date storming off.
“Woops, didn’t mean to make your boyfriend mad.” Yuji winced.
“Not my boyfriend, just a bad blind date.” You quickly interjected, spinning back to meet his hopeful gaze.
A mischievous grin crossed Yuji’s features as his coach began yelling at him to get back to the dugout in time for the next inning.
He ignored the shouts, clicking his tongue, “That so? Can I get your number then?”
You thought for a moment before coyly pressing a finger against his forehead, “When you win the game.”
He smirked without another word and jumped back down to the field, dusting his hands off and promptly returning to the bench.
The game ended with the Sorcerers scoring 10 to 2 against the Curses and your number tucked into Yuji’s back pocket.
Your phone animatedly buzzed as you made your journey back to your car, and you guessed he had texted you as soon as he made it into the locker room. Butterflies filled your stomach as you glanced at your phone, your heart squeezing at the message displaying on the screen.
Hey, it’s Yuji! You should come to the next game, I think your kisses are lucky :) Let’s try that new restaurant on main street after?

End Notes:
This is superrr short and sweet but ack I l o v e it!! I like couldn’t stop thinking about this scenario and thought Yuji would be perfect for it :) I love him💞🥰🥰

So some idea for Sukuna fluff 🥺 like imagine you want to take a picture with him and at first he gets annoyed because he thinks this is stupid af and his grumpy ass just doesn’t understand stuff like this. But when he sees that you are like really upset he changes his mind and be like “come on brat, let’s do it” 😭 He still thinks it’s stupid but at least you are happy now 🥺 idkkk this thought just came to me, maybe you will use it one day, love your works 🫶🏻
“Kuna-baby!” You chirp, throwing yourself next to him on the couch. He flinched to the side to make room for you, and you curl into his side as you lift your phone up to fit you both in frame. “Smile!”
“For what?”
“My picture!”
“The fuck am I smiling for free for?” He scoffs, and you feel your heart stop for a sec and your smile falters slightly. “I smile for Ma and when kids fall. That’s it.”
“Not even for me?” You ask with a chuckle, but deep down, your heart hurts, and you hope this is just mindless teasing.
“You’re no exception to any of my rules,” he says flatly.
He means it.
You give him another chuckle and push off of him, letting him go back to his game and scrolling through your phone to try and combat the hurt in your soul at his harshness.
Apparently, the mood shift is too much for your boyfriend, and he paused his game again and moves his headphone from his ear, “what’s with you?”
“Nothing,” you lie.
He groans, “is this seriously making you upset? The fact I won’t take a stupid picture with you?”
“It’s not stupid,” you pout. “I just… wanted… a new wallpaper. For my phone…”
You practically feel his eyes roll back into his skull as you continue to scroll on your phone. Then, he wraps an arm around you, tucking you back into his side with your chin resting in the dip of his elbow, “don’t be like this, brat.”
“Im not being like anything.”
“Youre being a pouty brat.”
“Oh, am I?” you sigh.
“Fine,” he snips, resuming his game. “See if I care.” The room is shrouded in tenseness, practically suffocating for you both. You take a deep breath, understanding his discomfort but simply being told “no” would’ve been just as sufficient.
The game doesn’t last long, though, as apparently he’s discomforted in the silence too.
He takes a deep inhale through his nose and pauses again, pressing a kiss to your temple and using his hand to rub your cheek, “make it a good one. And I get to approve it before you make it your background.”
Immediately, you perk up, smiling softly and shifting to be in a more comfortable position, angling your phone to take a picture. He angles his head to bury his nose against the crown of your head, and his eyes close as he takes a relaxing breath of your scent. You’re quick to snap the picture secretly, admiring how blissful he looks merely relishing in your warmth. Then, he flashes you a close-mouthed smile, one wide enough where the dimple in his cheek is prominent, and when you snap that picture, his face falls.
“Hate that fuckin’ thing,” he grumbles.
“What thing?”
“The fucking divot in my cheek,” he says. “Makes me look like a kid.”
“Baby,” you coo, twisting your body to cup his cheek in your hand, “is that why you don’t like having your picture taken?”
He doesn’t answer, but he doesn’t have to. You know the answer. “I think it’s handsome,” you purr.
“I don’t care what you think.”
“Yes, you do,” you snicker. “Clearly. But that’s okay. Because I think you’re perfect.”
“I am perfect.” He presses another kiss to your head, “now shut up and let me play. Glad your ass is happy now.”
“I really am, sukuna. Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it. Ever again. Ever.”

Chapter 5 - Is this a date?!
Summary: Kirishima has no idea what’s going on. Y/N takes the matter in her own hands and forces his himbo to ask her on a date. The date ends with a quite a lot of uhm… surprises.
Warnings: Swear words + Y/N wants to kiss Kirishima constantly. 😂
First Chapter Master List
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
Okay, so… Kirishima is really fucking confused. He’s so confused he even decided not to get a coffee today because he genuinely can’t look into Y/N’s eyes without dropping dead on the floor.
He’s met a lot of uhm… touchy people during his short little life, one of them being him to be honest, but…. None of his friends have kissed him on the mouth before. Okay, that’s a lie, Tetsutetsu did but he was absolutely wasted and for some weird reason he thought he’s his girlfriend. He also almost kissed Katsuki out of pure worry once. Nevermind.
Also, his heart didn’t erupt like a fucking lava inside his chest when Tetsutetsu kissed him, but obviously, Kirishima is a big boy, he knows why is his heart having a hard time with doing normal things like beating in a regular pattern and he’s absolutely not ashamed of his ridiculous crush on the barista next door but like… why did she kiss him? And what’s up with that promise? You can’t just promise that to someone, you can’t just throw your life away to live in an unhappy marriage for the rest of your life just to prove your point, can you?
Maybe the kiss was an accident. Technically, it barely touched his mouth. Yeah. It can still be a friendly gesture if he thinks about it that way even though that doesn’t explain the marriage thing but…
“She kissed you because she fucking likes you, what the fuck, Eijirou?!” Katsuki yells into Kirishima’s face out of the blue.
“She doesn’t hate me and maybe she feels pity for me for having an obvious crush on her. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, sir.”
Katsuki is clearly about to have a meltdown but he braces himself for the sake of his friend.
“She likes me too and yet here I am, untouched. She gives out free coffee to the people she likes, not fucking kisses and promises to marry them.”
Katsuki has a point. But…
“Do not fucking ‘but’ me, you absolute moron. Get the fuck out of the building, your shift is fucking over and all you did was writing your girlfriends first name and your last name all over the official paperwork so honestly, I don’t fucking want to see you here anymore.”
“I’m so sorry, Katsuki…”
“No.”
“I mean it… I’ll stay and fix this, I’m really sorry…”
“Get the fuck out, Eijirou!”
Kirishima has been thrown out of his own office by a sparking hand. What a shameful day. He leaves the building with his head held low, moping towards the nearest train station because Kirishima was so fucking all over the place this morning that he forgot he owns a motorbike. He also got fined on the train because he forgot to buy a ticket. What a shitty day.
“You forgot something this morning?” The sound of an angel comes from the coffee shop he’s walking past by. Kirishima looks up and he feels like he just flew to fucking heaven. It’s his favorite barista in cool, edgy clothing, a lollipop hanging from her mouth. She looks at Kirishima with a beautiful, offended gaze which doesn’t make any sense because he’s quite sure he didn’t hurt any puppies today or like… ever.
“Hi.” Well done, Kirishima. The awkward smile and the even more awkward head rubbing is definitely the way to every woman’s heart. “Are you finished for today?”
“Are you asking me on a date, himbo?”
Kirishima’s face becomes the color of his hair.
“Oh, I would never… I mean I would, hundred percent, oh my god, but… like I didn’t…” Kirishima can’t form any more stupid words as Y/N shoves her lollipop into his mouth to shut him up.
The lollipop that was in her mouth a second ago.
That’s an indirect kiss. Hell, that’s an indirect make out session.
This is how Kirishima dies. Or maybe, he already died and this is just his brain showing him all the good things he missed by fucking dying at the humble age of 26. Or is it 27? Hm, maybe 25. He forgot. He’s definitely less than 30. That’s all he knows.
“So where are you taking me, hubby?” Y/N nonchalantly hangs to Kirishima’s arm like it’s no biggie while Kirishima has a meltdown inside. What’s happening right now?! What is this shenanigan?! This must be one of Y/N’s pranks. Yeah. That’s okay. He can live with that. He can just pretend he’s not about to have a heart attack from Y/N’s closeness and play the hubby, whatever that means. Is it like “buddy” but in homosexual? But Kirishima is straight. Well, mostly. He’s the kinda guy who certainly can love anything and everything, he believes that love is love and the gender doesn’t matter, but he only had crushes on women. Because women are really manly and Y/N is the manliest of them all.
“Wanna grab something to eat in the arcade?”
That’s a good place, right? They can play games, have something to eat, enjoy a few drinks… it’s also a place where people go with their friends but they also go there for a date so…
Not like he actually believes this is a date. Nuh-uh. He’s gullible but not that much. Y/N is just teasing again.
… right?
~•🪨•~
You did it. You asked Red Riot out on a date! Okay, well, that’s a lie, you kinda forced him to take YOU out on a date but that doesn’t matter because now you are standing in front of the coolest arcade in the area with your favorite himbo. You also walked through half of the city with your arm entwined with his and it felt fucking great.
“Let’s get something to eat.” You pull the man inside, following the lovely scent of popcorn. “Can I have a big ass tray of French fries with ketchup and mayo and bowl of mozzarella sticks? Uh, and can I have a box of pocky? Also, that cheesecake looks lovely, can I have a slice with two forks, please? Uh, and a strawberry milkshake with two straws!”
“Are you hungry, Y/N?” Kirishima giggles next to you and asks for a small popcorn. Oh, that fucking giggle will be the death of you, how can such a massive, bulky man be so adorable?!
“Are you not?” You look at the small box of popcorn in his hand but he only smiles at that. “Not really!”
Kirishima and the bartender exchanges a knowing look and while you definitely don’t like that you let them do whatever they want because the only thing you can focus on is the massive tray of food right in front you.
~•🪨•~
… okay, maybe… you bought too much. Technically, you could stuff some more food into yourself without feeling sick but you need to have some space for the desert.
“I can finish this for you if you don’t want it!” Kirishima gives you a gleaming smile and takes a fry from your tray. Damn, those teeth.
“So… are your teeth… uhm… when you kiss someone, do you tend to cut them by accident!”
Kirishima chokes on his fry. It’s hilarious.
“Khm…” He coughs a few times before he manages to answer. “I had a few accidents when I was younger but I think I’m doing okay now.”
“Can you show me?”
“Y/N!”
Ahh, it’s so much fun to tease him, goddamnit. It was worth waking up today.
“Haha, joking… for now.”
Red Riot finishes your fries with his face red as your uncle’s hair. Amazing.
Now it’s time for your second attack.
“Why don’t you try the shake? It’s really good!” You take a sip from your own straw for great measure, lips playing with the end of it. You push the second straw over to face him, your eyes full of challenge.
Red Riot understands your cheeky intentions, and by that, you mean he gets even more red if that’s possible. Apparently, it is. He leans in close, takes the second straw, your foreheads almost touching as he takes a skip, his eyes never leaving yours. Now it’s your time to get red like your hair.
“It’s really nice. Sweet.” Kirishima mutters, barely moving away from his straw; his strawberry scented breath fanning your face. Oh how much you want to kiss him right now. Oh, fuck, this was a terrible idea. His eyes are so fucking beautiful, the prettiest shade of crimson with a hint of pinkish undertone to them. How dare he be born with those eyes?!
“Yeah. Really sweet. And handsome.” You mumble out loud; you tear yourself away from the situation, your face boiling hot as you look anywhere but him.
“That’s an interesting way to describe a beverage but… it’s okay.”
“I wasn’t talking about the shake, you himbo.”
Oh boy. You can cut the tension with a fucking knife right now. Is this the time when you just ask him to bring you over to his place to…
Do not finish that sentence, Y/N. Do not. This is your first fucking date. It’s not appropriate.
“Uhm… thank you? You are also handsome… I mean… pretty. You perfume is really nice. Is it new?”
“Yeah, I got it a few days ago. It’s for… special occasions.”
“Is this… a special occasion?” He stutters and you are quite sure you could cook an egg on his face right now.
“Yeah… a really special one.” You mutter under your nose before you shake your head to clear your thoughts. It doesn’t help. “Wanna play the pocky game?” You literally shriek into his face. Honestly, you can’t be more obvious than this, can you?
… well, apparently you can. By the confused look on his pretty little face he has no idea why you want to play that game. He’s such a himbo and thank god he is because there is no way in heaven this is appropriate.
“Let’s see how far can you go. The winner gets a second date.”
“Oh! Okay!” The stupid himbo perks up, not even realizing that it doesn’t matter who wins because even if he looses he still gets a second date.
Is it too soon to say that you genuinely love this guy? Probably. Not like you ever cared about what’s acceptable and what not.
You take a pocky out of the pocket and put the end into your mouth.
Kirishima stares at a pocky for a second then it seems like an idea just popped into his head because he STARTS SHREDDING THE FUCKING POCKY with his shark teeth, looking like a bunny in the middle of a raging meltdown, pieces of biscuits flying all over as he shreds and shreds and shreds, and honestly, you are not sure your face won’t be eaten by the end of it, and you don’t mean that in a good way. Obviously, you can’t help but move away, genuinely terrified by the sound his teeth make as they collide with the poor edible stick and he takes is as a win, clearly over the moon as he stares at you with his stupid puppy eyes, his teeth full on display.
“Red, No!” You reprimand and Red makes a sad puppy face. Why is he so cute?!
“I’ll show you, okay?” You put a new pocky inside his mouth and start eating the candy stick slowly, smiling at him cheekily as you get closer and closer to the middle. “Now do the same.”
And he does. He’s so close. He’s so flushed. There is barely any pocky left so you turn your head to face sideways, letting him come closer to take the last bit of the pocky; your lips touch for a second, the minuscule touch electrifying your whole body and when Eijirou freezes and doesn’t move further, you close the remaining distance…
“Excuse me, uhm… sorry to interrupt, I’m glad your date is going well, but you are making the customers uncomfortable.”
You both jump away from each other. Also, he doesn’t look sorry at all. The guy looks fucking smug.
“We are really sorry, sir.” Eijirou gets all flushed right away, eyes staring at the concrete like a child caught eating his boogers.
You decide to not say a thing because all you can think about is death threats and being kicked out of the arcade would definitely ruin the date.
He quickly eats your leftovers in shame then you two go into the arcade to play some games, finally free from the judging looks of those lonely bozos in the food court. You were so close to kiss him. So fucking close! Goddamnit!
Red Riot tries his best to win you all the stuffed animals possible. You already have a bag worth of random stuff and he just… can’t stop.
He makes his way to one that has different rings and necklaces inside and they look quite high quality as well. It costs more coins for a round but Eijirou is set on winning some because “giving jewelry to a lady is really manly” so you let him do his thing. You don’t appreciate being ignored for the sake of it, but what can you do. Clearly, Eijirou likes a good challenge.
“I can do this.” Suddenly, Eijirou turns over to give you a bone crushing hug. “I will get you the prettiest ring. I promise.
He’s really struggling with this one. Also, you are quite sure he spent your weekly wage already.
“Ei, it’s fine. Let’s play something else.”
“No.”
For your surprise, when he turns over to fucking snarl at you, half of his face is hardened. He doesn’t look okay.
“Hey, what if I try?” You mumble, going all shy from his aggressive behavior. No, not because you are scared. It’s more like … uhm… he’s kinda hot? Okay, he’s a little bit creepy but at the same time… it’s really sweet how he goes all hot and bothered just because he wants to give you something valuable. You really do appreciate the passion even though you would definitely prefer it in another way, like for instance with his tongue down your throat or… something.
Fuck, you really want to kiss him, it’s actually getting pathetic at this point. “Or I can give you a motivating kiss? Would that help?”
Yup. You are absolutely pathetic.
Eijirou’s face softens at that. He touches his own skin, probably just realizing how worked up he was just a second ago, a tiny blush decorating his pretty face, probably from the embarrassment.
“You saw me loosing my mind over a stupid claw machine and you still want to kiss me?” He mutters and damn, how hard it is to not go for his lips right away.
“I think it was really passionate. Really manly. I like it.” You move towards him to leave a kiss on his cheek. “Get me the prettiest ring you can, Red Riot.” You mumble to his cheeks, slowly moving towards his lips to tease him. You pull away right before your lips are about to graze his and honestly, it probably hurts you more than it hurts him.
“On it.” He breaths out, downright panting.
The he wins.
He fucking wins.
“Oh my god, you actually did it!” You jump around happily as Eijirou crouches down to get his prize. You crouch down next to him to take a good look, but Ei turn away from you and opens the box without letting you see the ring. “Hey!”
“Wait, I want to give it to you properly!” He mutters, then turns towards you, still crouching. “Y/N! I really-really like you.”
Your heart makes a somersault inside your chest. He’s stating the obvious, but somehow it still makes you feel all tingly-tangly; you guess this is how it feels like when someone you actually like confesses to you. Damn, these heart palpitations are not a joke.
“I… I really like you too, Eijirou.” You admit sheepishly. For some reason, he doesn’t look to affected by your words which stings a bit but oh well.
“I promise you I’ll… I’ll get better. Stronger. I’ll learn how to love myself. This ring…” he finally pulls out the ring from behind his back and takes your hand in his. Then it’s silence. He takes a deep breath to calm down.
Oh my god.
Oh my fucking god.
You are all about the YOLO, but this a bit… too much?! Too soon?!
Okay, who are you kidding, you literally can’t say no this man. You literally knew this man will be the end game since day 1. You don’t need to date him for several years to know that he’s… special.
“With this ring, I promise you that I’ll become the best version of myself and then… I’ll marry you. Because you deserve the best and nothing less, Y/N. So… I know it’s a lot to ask but… will you wait for me?”
Eijirou puts the ring on your ring finger. It’s a beautiful silver ring with a crimson colored gem in the middle. It’s actually gorgeous.
Don’t cry. Don’t fucking cry.
Your favorite hero just proposed to you with a ring from a claw machine. With a ring he technically spent half of your rent money on right in front of your eyes. With a ring he worked so hard for that even his quirk acted up from it.
“Okay.” A few stray tears escape from your eyes so you quickly rub them away. “I’ll… I’ll marry you, you himbo. I promise. Don’t make me wait for too long though, yeah?”
“Why are you crying? Was that too much? I was an absolute idiot, wasn’t I? That’s so selfish of me, I’m sorry…”
“Oh my god, shut the fuck up!” You let yourself fall into his arms, your own arms snaking around his neck to pull him closer, toppling the both of you over. You two end up lying on the floor, hugging like two idiots and you only hope that no one will come over to this corner in the next few seconds because you are quite sure you’ll be kicked out for inappropriate behavior if they do. “Wanna come to mine?”
Eijirou’s face is as red as his hair and it’s hilarious. “To your… flat?!”
“Yeah. To my flat. I have some wine we can share. We can watch a movie… I have some old school Crimson Riot stuff somewhere in a box, we could… go through it together?”
“You have Crimson Riot stuff in your flat?!”
Well, apparently coming to your flat was only cheeky until Crimson Riot wasn’t involved. He’s such a fucking geek.
“Duh. Where do you think that old ass poster was coming from? Santa?”
“Y/N… this is the best day of my life!”
“Well, I’m glad that all I needed to do was to mention Crimson Riot for you to actually appreciate our date.” You roll your eyes offendedly as you finally stand up from the dirty floor.
“No, it was the best day anyway but now it’s the best best day! Double best day! Triple! Quadruple! I don’t know what comes after that I’m afraid, I’m quite dumb.”
You can’t help but laugh at that.
“You are such a himbo, I swear to god.” You reach out for him to help him up. “Come on now, hubby. Let’s continue our date at mine.”
“Yes, sir.”
~•🪨•~
“Well, this is my flat. Well, technically it’s my uncle’s. He’s uhm… loaded.” You mutter under your nose as you put the key into the lock.
Then you change your mind and pull it out.
One last chance for that cheeky kiss. One last fucking chance. You can do this. “Before we go in, I want to… uhm… thank you for today. I had so much fun and thank you… for your promise. I also want to give you something, it’s definitely not a big deal or anything but…” You slowly turn around to face the big red man. Haha. The big red man. Like the big red dog. That’s funny.
Anyway.
You slowly stand on your tiptoes, trying your best to reach Eijirou’s lips. You make sure to give him enough time to be able to move away if he’s not comfortable, but by the glassines of his eyes as he stares at your lips, you have no reason to worry. He looks like he’s not even on this planet, his breath is ragged and he doesn’t blink at all, like he’s trying to remember every single second of this. His eyes close when you are too close for him to actually be able to see anything, and you are just about to kiss him senseless, when your door randomly opens. Aggressively. Eijirou jumps up so high he almost bumps his head into the ceiling.
“Did you forget how to open your own door, you silly sausage? … oh. Oh!” Crimson Riot stares at your companion with a shit eating grin of his face.
… oh fuck.
… to be continued!

“Working with him is such a pain, like, who takes interviews only at 4:35 AM? Who does he think he is, anyway?”
“Well… he is the highest goalscorer in the entire league right now,” Mari counters, “I think that warrants that he can make some demands-”
“Oh, you’re just like the rest of them, aren’t you?” you roll your eyes playfully, shoving your colleague and friend’s shoulder.
“Whatever,” she shrugs, “Better start packing, considering your flight is in…seven hours.”
Tumblr media
In the last few years, you’ve been to Turin, Italy almost too many times to count. Sometimes for your job, and sometimes for…other reasons. Though in the last six months, it’s been mainly for work, no thanks to your stupidly talented striker boyfriend who just coincidentally happens to play for the Ubers.
You wouldn’t trade your sports journalist job for anything else, but with the combination of his always hectic schedule and your growing responsibilities as a senior journalist, it’s been next to impossible to spend any extra time together.
Other than squeezing in an interview at 4:30 AM just so you have an extra twenty minutes with him before training starts.
You scoff as you try to conceal the fatigue under your eyes with concealer. You’d love to go to Rome, Florence or Venice, or anywhere really, with your boyfriend. But he’s stubborn and rigid in his routines. You’re not ungrateful to be with your handsome, protective boyfriend with a dry humor that only very few appreciate. You just want a little more.
So you’ve been to all of those places, and then some, by yourself or with your coworkers or friends. Pretty much everyone except for him.
You’re trying to be understanding. He’s a globally known soccer player and gets recognized everywhere and anywhere he goes. All he wants is a day off, a day to relax and spend time and the offseason with you. Is it awful that you want a little more?
The relationship itself isn’t terribly new or terribly old. Maybe the distance makes it feel newer than it is.  But you’ve known each other since childhood, both of your families being friends and both of you running around the soccer circuit since a young age. His days in blue lock coincided with your days of playing soccer for your high school. That man with the red streaks in his hair has been in your life for nearly as long as you’ve been in it, and you don’t want to change anything about that.
You sigh and shrug your coat on, mentally preparing yourself to ignore Barou Shouei’s attempts at kissing you before you take the mic.
Tumblr media
“Hello, Barou-san,” you say stiffly, pushing your hand out for him to shake, “It’s nice to see you before the sun has risen.” The vein in his forehead throbs at your indifference and you grin, letting the facade melt. It’s been two months since you’ve seen him. You suppose you can wait a little longer to fight with him.
“You didn’t text me when you landed,” he says, “Or when you got here-”
“I landed an hour and a half ago and came here straight from the airport,” you roll your eyes, “Someone only takes interviews at this ungodly hour and I don’t want any special treatment.”
“If I want to give you special treatment, then I will,” Barou says, pulling you in by your forearm and wrapping you in a bone-crushing hug. You inhale deeply, immediately feeling sleepy as his warmth embraces you.
“Don’t make it sound like such a threat,” you mumble, pressing your cheek into his shoulder. Your fingers thread through his longer hair, resting at the nape of his neck. He must not yet have applied his cologne, because he smells fresh.
“Wanna take this interview in bed?” you joke, pulling away from him just an inch.
“How unprofessional of you,” he says dryly, “I’ll have to inform your superiors.”
You roll your eyes again, grinning when he pulls you in for a proper kiss. His touch makes you weak in the knees, makes you yearn for him even though he’s in your arms. For just a few short days.
Your heart aches inadvertently.
“I got you tickets for today’s training and tomorrow’s game. I know you don’t need them,” Shouei says, sticking them in your coat pocket, “Let’s get this over with so we can go.”
He squeezes your arm, dark eyes lingering with unspoken and heavy words as he takes your hand in his towards the stadium.
Tumblr media
Interviewing with you is always easy, despite having interviewed with you one-on-one only a handful of times. It’s the start of a new season at Ubers (and his third year with the club), and he’s eager to win the league this time. Last season, they came so close.
Barou Shouei did not become the Ubers’ number thirteen  just to come only this far.
He’d gone back home to Japan after the loss last season for a week and stayed with you. Each time he leaves you, it gets harder and harder. But despite his loss, you were promoted to being a senior sports journalist. He was so proud of you, eager to see where your career would take you.
It seemed like the tables had turned and you were the one now traveling more than him.
But you both make it work, right? With phone calls while you both are in opposing time zones, red eye flights just to see each other for a few hours… You try to go to Italy to see him whenever you can. Even with your increased responsibilities, his schedule is far more rigid than yours.
You’re so in demand now that it’s hard to keep up with two extremely busy schedules. Still- you’re here with your bright eyes and teasing smile, and he doesn’t want to lose a single second not looking at you.
It doesn’t feel like work when it’s with you. Even with the questions about game stats, Snuffy’s leadership, his future at the Ubers and the Ubers future in the league, it never feels like an actual interview. He used to hate giving these interviews until his coach told him he had to. What was the point of it? He’s not the captain, why does he have to deal with the press and the stupid questions?
Until his first interview was with you.
Even now, when he knows that there is a mountain to climb over with you, it still feels the way it always does. Like a conversation. You’re focused on him, cracking jokes, and Shouei has always liked when your full attention is centered on him after all.
Tumblr media
The last time you were in Turin, you didn’t exactly leave on a bright, hopeful note with respect to your relationship. In fact, you left in tears and had changed your flight timing at the last minute so that Shouei purposely wouldn’t be able to see you off. You didn’t want to see him just to fight once again.
It left a sour taste in your mouth and despite that things are “normal” now, you still feel the fragility of your relationship. It rests in your hands like a delicate bird.
In the last two months, neither of you had brought up the dreaded fight. It’s not the first time this topic has arisen, and you’re sure it won’t be the last. Your excuse for ignoring the issue was that you wanted to talk to him about it in person. His excuse was that if you had a problem then you’d bring it up on your own.
Your harsh words ring clearly in your head:
“Why is it so wrong to just want a little more? You live in Italy- I don’t think I’m asking for too much to go to Rome o-or Florence or Venice or literally anywhere for a few days during your offseason-”
“I can’t just go, everyone else trains during the off-season! How am I supposed to be the best striker if I’m going on vacation with you-”
“Oh, well, don’t sound so disgusted over the prospect of taking a few days off with me-”
“Come on, I didn’t mean that and you know it.”
“Do I? Do I know it? To me, it looks like you don’t want to spend any time with me outside of when it’s convenient for you. We get what? Maybe a few weekends a season? Are you good with a few weekends a season? And when you’re not playing, you don’t want to go anywhere with me. Am I your girlfriend or your sidechick, Shouei?”
“That’s not fair-”
“No, I’ll tell you what’s not fair. You want me to be happy with breadcrumbs.”
“You knew what you were getting into!”
“That’s such a cop-out and you know it!”
Shouei looks at you with hardly any emotion on his face, save for the downturn of his lips. You close your eyes shut to calm yourself down so that you don’t say something you regret. He wants to reach for you, to comfort you even though he’s the one who made you cry. But his feet stay planted and he watches you crumple.
“Don’t cry,” he all but begs you, finally gathering you in his arms, “We’ll figure it out. Just… don’t cry-”
“I don’t know how to not be upset with you, with this,” you mumble tearfully as he rubs your back.
“I know,” Shouei says, curling a hand around your cheek, “I know.”
Tumblr media
“Hey,” you mumble, with heated cheeks, “Happy game day, I guess.” You thrust a bouquet of fresh red roses that you picked up from your favorite floral vendor around the corner from the training grounds.
“What a loser,” Shouei says fondly, putting you in a light affectionate headlock, “You’re gonna make me late for warm-up.”
“Well, I’m such a big fan of Dortmund that this was my plan all along,” you reply, “If I can distract you, then they have a better chance of winning, don’t they?”
“Whatever,” he rolls his eyes, turning you in his arms to greet you properly.
“Heard Isagi’s out for blood and redemption today,” you murmur as his lips press against the column of your throat.
His ears perk up and he’s torn between questioning you about Isagi or ignoring Isagi’s name coming out of your lips.In the end, the striker in him wins. Just like you knew it would.
“That’s insider information,” you protest when he grumbles.
“What’s the point of having a journalist girlfriend if I get no secrets out of it,” Shouei glares at you, shoving your shoulder gently.
“The point is that you get this,” you take his hand and press it against your chest, “This,” you press his hand against your crotch, “And this,” finally, you press his hand against your ass. “And my charming, stellar personality.”
“Stop seducing me, you temptress,” he scoffs, pushing away your lingering lips.
“Yeah, yeah. Wouldn’t want to ruin your gameday ritual,” you reply, “I’ll see you later, honey. Have a good game.”
You turn on your heel to leave the locker room, but not before smacking his ass and giving him a kiss good luck.
Tumblr media
This field, and every other field in the world, is close enough to home to you as your own barely furnished apartment in Tokyo is. Fresh grass, clean white lines and adrenaline swirls in the air as you stand in front of the camera, getting ready for the half-time program.
One of your favorite moments in front of the camera is when Julian Loki nearly bowled you over in pursuit of an overhead ball. He’d given you a quick side hug with a smug grin after the game, but ever since then, you’ve maintained a safe distance from the border of the field. The last thing you need is to cause a scene when you’re not even one of the twenty-two players on the field.
You’re wearing one of Shouei’s jersey under your emerald green blazer and you find it extraordinarily difficult to not turn your head to search for him as he walks off the pitch and into the tunnel for halftime. The Ubers are down by one goal and you can envision how tense his shoulders are while he mouths off at his defense for doing a “fucking awful job”.
It’s rare that you’ve ever gone down in the tunnel to see him while you’re on the clock. Chewing on your bottom lip, you debate on it. Should you, shouldn’t you… It’s not about you, is it? His frustration on the field? Even he could admit that he wasn’t playing at his best today.
If he was feeling unsettled about the lingering aftermath of the fight, he had every opportunity to open his stupid mouth anyway. How often are you supposed to have the same fight anyway?
Oh, who are you lying to? In every universe, you want to have this fight with him. Because it’s him.
It’s just a rough patch.
You hope he can telepathically hear your words of encouragement from inside the tunnel.
[divide]
In the end, you don’t approach the tunnel but the Ubers end up winning the game in a comeback that has you and the entire stadium on your toes. Of course Shouei scored the equalizer and the winning goal with an insane fake out and a strike with incredible power, in true dramatic fashion.
You’re prepping in your tent to begin the post-game interviews with the captains of each team. Your heart is still racing from the last minute winning goal, seeing the strike sailing through the air behind your eyelids.
As Marc Snuffy walks into the tent with his chest heaving in exhilaration and a big grin, he’s roughly shoved to the side by none other than Barou Shouei. Before you can tell your cameraman to stop recording or before you can berate Shouei for nearly taking down your entire tent with his massive body, or for shoving his captain to the side like a sack of potatoes-
He crowds your personal space, giant hands cupping your cheeks and his thumbs rubbing your skin. His dark eyes dilate as he takes you in- his angel on the field in his jersey, his lucky number thirteen. You gasp in surprise as he presses his lips to yours cheekily, daring you to deepen the kiss.
You can vaguely hear his teammates hollering in the background, seeing their ever so serious striker kiss his mysterious, private girlfriend.
“Hey, I’ll see you at home, alright?” Shouei offers you a rare, small smile as he rubs your chin with his thumb.
All you can do is nod with a sheepish smile while your cameraman stares at you, stunned.
And when you watch the interview again, you flush at the reflection of your lovesick eyes and his yearning embrace.
Tumblr media
Nerves oddly seize you as you approach Shouei’s luxurious apartment building. It’s about four times bigger than the size of your own. It reflects his soccer player status and salary, you suppose. He’s been here for just as long as he’s been playing with the Ubers but he seemed to only care about decorating it in the last year or so. Ever since you’ve been around.
He’d told you he’d see you at home. Implying that this was your home, too. In truth, it's not your home at all, but the notion still makes you feel funny. Like butterflies fluttering in your belly, as if you can’t believe he still wants to be with you. He never makes you feel like you’re too much, even when you doubt yourself.
You didn’t mean to make yourself almost cry as you approach his unit with hesitant steps.
Shouei yanks the door open nearly off its hinges exactly one second after you text him announcing your arrival. He immediately pulls you inside, takes your coat and your bag and ushers you out of your shoes. Then, he kisses you in greeting.
It’s different from the kiss he laid upon you at the field. It’s softer, more docile.
“I bet your dm’s are flooded after that stunt you pulled today,” you mumble against his lips, peering up at him while he scoffs.
“Yeah, my agent is getting paid her worth today. At least one of us is private on social media,” Shouei says, sighing into your embrace as you wrap your arms around his neck.
“I guess I’m happy to be your mystery girl until the day comes.”
Shouei stares at you long and hard, his lips in an imperceptible line. Your heart pounds in your ears as he stares straight through you with darkened nearly red eyes, reaching into the layers and layers that you attempt to hide away from him. It’s not like you to be quiet and demure around him but you’re on unsteady ground. The words don’t come out of your mouth, wilting in your throat like dried up sunflowers.
But you look over his shoulder briefly, peering into the open space that leads into the kitchen and the dining room only to see two lit candlesticks and a bouquet of your favorite flowers at the center of his dinner table. A romantic burgundy glow illuminates the room along as the purple and orange streaks from the sunset filter in through the windows.
The question is written all over your face as you struggle not to let your bottom lip quiver. You’re usually the one who’s adept at words, but here you are unable to formulate a single one.
“Stop crying,” he says gruffly, already wiping at your cheeks. You sniffle and laugh wetly as you hide your face from him.
“We both live in this insane world. I don’t want it to pull us apart like it has for so many others. And we can’t give up our careers but I can’t give up on you either,” you admit, feeling a weight lift off your chest.
“I know,” Shouei says simply, “We left on a shitty note last time, and I’m not heartless you know. At least, not for you.”
He grins wolfishly at you when you chuckle. He remains quiet for a beat, rubbing his thumbs into the nape of your neck soothingly until your sniffles lessen. Fidgeting with the collar of your sweater, Shouei hesitates.
“Uh,” he begins, “I got this rental in Venice, in June. It’s still a few months out, but you know…”
“You really want to go? With me?”
“No, I want to go with Isagi,” Shouei says flatly, resisting the urge to roll his eyes, “If you’re asking if I want to go with you then I’ve done something wrong here.”
“At least you finally admit it,” you shove his shoulder. It’s a beautiful rental, with big windows and a great view of the city and the water. You’re already thinking about the gondola rides, the nighttime walks, the music. All of it with Shouei.
“And you made dinner and set the table,” you pinch his cheeks (he grimaces), “You are a romantic, after all…”
“Don’t make such a big deal about it, loser,” he scoffs. He kisses you gently as he wraps himself tightly around you. You sigh into his lips happily, already feeling lighter than when you landed in Turin not even seventy-two hours ago.
“Yeah, yeah,” you reply with a sparkling smile.
Shouei makes a vow to himself to never make you cry in Italy ever again. Twice in two trips was more than enough.

Tumblr media
dad!toji x mom!reader
summary : celebrating baby megumi's first birthday as toji remembers the day he fell in love with you.
content warning: fluff, fluff, fluff! toji being a big softy for reader, megumi being a cute baby, mentions of foster care, reader knowing her worth.
word count: 2.3k
notes: I saw this video of a mom celebrating her daughter's first birthday like this and it made my heart absolutely melt. also, my obsession with toji is growing, especially soft dad toji like UGH GIVE HIM TO ME. i also think about the fact that he did change and the reason being a woman who showed what life could be like. my true roman empire fr. but to add a little more to the context of this fic, i chose the title because firstly the song, 'margaret' by lana del rey is about finding your person and the feeling of finding them. so i sggest listening to the sone while reading! anyways, enjoy!!!
Tumblr media
It was currently 6 a.m. and both your husband and baby were fast asleep still. You on the other hand were wide awake putting together a special surprise for your baby, Megumi, who was turning one.
You felt yourself get emotional as you get flashbacks of when he was just a tiny little thing. He still is your tiny little baby but he’s growing so fast it makes you wanna cry.
As you’re tying the ballon’s up to his crib, you hear him stir in his sleep. Your heart jumps for a second but then see his little eyes flutter open. Your gaze softens even more and a smile spreads across your face, “Good morning, baby,” You coo at him sweetly, and he smiles immediately recognizing his momma. His hands reach up wanting you to hold him and of course you could not say no to him.
You lift him up in your arms and hold him close to your chest. You press a kiss against his cheek, closing your eyes and swaying back and forth with him in your arms.
Toji groans as he feels himself wake up from his deep slumber. He rolls around in bed and reaches for something that isn’t there. His eyes quickly shoot open and he sees that you’re not in bed. *Did the baby start crying?* No because he would’ve heard it.
He then gets up leaving his room and making his way towards the babies room. He noticed the door is already open and when he peaks inside he sees you holding your baby swaying back and forth with him in your arms. His eyes then scan the room and notices the balloons above the crib along with the birthday decorations.
It was Megumi’s first birthday, of course. His eyes go back to you and Megumi and his heart accelerates. The sight was beautiful, he wanted to cherish it and keep it locked up in his head forever. God, you were so beautiful and you absolutely glowed with Megumi in your arms. He never knew how love could feel so amazing and how easily it stared him in the face when it came to you.
It was never easy for Toji to love especially since he’d never felt real true love for anyone. Not his mom and certainly not his dad, he was alone for as long as he could remember.
Of course he didn’t care, he could have any woman he wanted in a matter of seconds. No women could change him and he was fully convinced of that.
But boy was he wrong when he met you, everything changed. When you met you didn’t immediately flirt with him. You just saw him as a regular guy walking into your diner because that’s what he was. You treated him normally, not throwing yourself on him like other women. It was refreshing to say the least.
But he knew why, he could tell by the way you carried yourself that you knew you deserved something special. So when he first asked you out, you immediately turned him down without explanation. At first he was a bit offended but he brushed it off telling himself he liked a challenge.
He continued to ask you out after and still was met with the same answer. He did this for 4 months until he finally sat down at the diner and asked you, “Why won’t you go out with me?” You stare at him wide-eyed as you place a cup of coffee in front of him, “Well, you’ve never actually tried having a conversation with me, nor have you tried getting to know me, you like me because I’m pretty not for who I am,” She says cleaning up the area around him then leaving him there to think about what she said.
As she comes around to serve some costumer their food he stops her, “But I want to get to know you, that’s all I’ve been wanting these past couple of months,” Your face is blank, a bit irritated that he’d step in front of you like that, “Then prove it, actions speak louder than words,” You step around him continuing to do your job.
He let your words marinate for a second before he paid for his coffee and left.
It was now the end of your shift and all you wanted to do was go to bed. You sigh as you open the back door to leave, “Hey,” You jump at the sudden noise, feeling your soul leave your body. You look over at the noise, feeling a wave of relief that it wasn’t some freak, “Toji, you scared me!”
He was leaned up against the diner’s wall. He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, “My bad,” You shake your head before taking a deep breath, “What are you doing here anyway? The diners closed,” He shrugged leaving the wall and beginning to walk over to you, “I wanted to talk,” You raise your eyebrow in confusion, “To who?”
“To you,” He has a light smile on his face which causes you to smile, “About?” He laughs as he puts his hands in the pockets on his jeans, “I want to get to know you,” You narrowed your eyes at him, “How long have you been waiting out here for me?” Your question makes him tongue tied and red with embarrassment, “I-…since I left the diner,” He mumbles, but you heard it clear.
“That was 6 hours ago…you’ve been waiting here this whole time?” He nods looking away from you, already feeling so much embarrassment, “I didn’t know when you got off, so…I waited,” You didn’t understand why but you felt your heart flutter a bit, but you quickly shook it off. He noticed you think for a bit but quickly spoke up again, “Can I walk you home?”
Your snapped out of you thought, staring up at him blankly, “Sure, why not,” you didn’t feel threatened by him at all, you felt more safe around him then anything. One thing about Toji is that the many times he’s asked you out he’s never made you uncomfortable. He’s never made weird comments about you, he was cocky when you first met him which was off putting.
But after you shot him down the way you did he wasn’t so cocky after, “Would you like me to carry your bag?” He asks, noticing how tired you look, wanting to lift a weight of your shoulder, literally, “Oh, sure,” You handed him your bag then stretched your arms over your head and yawned, “I’m tired,” You say as you begin to walk, Toji hums before he asks, “How long have you been working there?”
“Mmm since I graduated high school,” Toji’s eyes widen a bit, you’d been working there for years and he’d never seen you, “Seriously? How come I only met you 4 months ago?” Toji had been going to that diner for a while now, ever since he graduated high school, “Well I recently graduated university, like 6 months ago but it’s been hard to look for a job so I asked to start working full time.”
Toji did take you for an educated woman, as whenever you were disrespected at the diner you never took it, always standing up for yourself, “Wow, what did you study in university?”
“Social work, I want to be a social worker for foster kids,” Toji felt his heart jump out of his chest, Toji was a foster kid. After he’d left the Zenin clan, he got into trouble shop lifting which let him to get put into the system. Which he was salty and angry about at first, it was as if he was just going back to where he was in the first place.
But to his surprise he was assigned a nice family and a great social worker who looked out for him, “Really? You know I was a foster kid,” his words make your ears quirk up turning your head towards him, “seriously? Was the system good to you?” The hope in your eyes is telling, he could see that you wanted to change things that went on it the system that were awful, “Fortunately yes, it was,” I smile spread across your face that made him melt instantly, “That’s great, I’m glad.”
The rest of the walk he learned more things about you, your favorite things, what you enjoyed doing on your free time, everything he could. You were right, getting to know somebody is so much more important than whatever they’d look like. Of course you were beautiful, no doubt about it but it was just a bonus to the beautiful personality you carried within you.
You soon arrived to your apartment complex. Toji scanned the area, it wasn’t the safest part of town but he knew it was affordable, so he couldn’t judge. “So, where do you see yourself in the future? You said you’re 22 right?” You nod as you both stop in front of the complex and sit on a nearby bench, “Well, I’ve always wanted a family, small or big. An amazing husband with a baby in a small house in the suburbs or by the beach, just living happily and peacefully.”
He noticed the way your eyes sparkled when you spoke. When you continued to describe what you wanted he couldn’t help but picture it. You, him, and a baby. His heart pounded in his chest at the image, when you stopped talking you looked into his eyes as he did you. That’s when he knew, he wanted to be everything you needed. He wanted to be the man for you.
So watching the sight of you and Megumi swaying back and forth, happily as ever is a sight for sore eyes. He felt emotional, never thinking he’d get to this point in life, this happy. Even though he was partially raised well he still had his flaws but you saw those flaws and mere things willing to stay and work on them with him.
You were his angel, his peace, and his everything. He finally decided to fully enter the room, placing a hand on the small of your back making you jump slightly, “Oh my gosh, Toji! You scared me!” He lightly chuckled before placing a kiss on your lips, “You weren’t in bed so I came up to see what was up,” You hum rubbing circles on Megumi’s back.
“I was going to wake you but you seemed exhausted last night,” He looks at Megumi, placing a hand on his head and giving him a kiss on his forehead, “Thank you, honey but I’m okay. Besides, it’s our little guys birthday, I could never miss that,” boy did this man have you wrapped around his finger, you fell in love with him over and over again every single day.
“Well since you’re here, can you grab the cake and candles that are in the kitchen so we can sing him happy birthday,” He nods giving you another kiss, “Anything for you,” You giggle as you watch him walk out of the room, you look at Megumi staring up at you, “happy birthday, my sweet boy,” you bring him up pressing your cheek against his.
Toji comes back with a cake and a single candle in his hand. Little Megumi coos at his dad causing Toji to laugh, “patience little guy,” he sits down placing the cake down as well, you follow first placing Megumi down then sitting yourself next to Toji.
Toji places the candle on the cake then lights it. Little Megumi’s eyes widen as he sees the small flame but then giggles and claps. You lay your head on Toji’s shoulder watching the sight that made your heart melt.
You began to sing happy birthday to him and he’d never smiled more, swaying back and forth to the sound of his parents voice. Megumi’s was only one but he felt the love that radiated off of his parents and how much they loved him, “Happy birthday to you, okay baby, now blow out your candles.”
Megumi’s face tilted in confusion, causing you and Toji to chuckle, “Like this,” you said as you blew softly, he copied your movement but no air came out of his lips. Toji laughed, “Okay try again,” he whispered but instead this time Toji blew slightly causing the candle to go out, little Megumi clapped thinking he had done it. You smiled at your happy baby, then at your husband, you lifted your head off of his shoulder giving him a kiss.
“Thank you,” You whispered lovingly, “For what?” He asked confused, “For this, for it all, for giving me the life I’d always dreamed of,” His heart swells at your words causing him to shake his head, “No, thank you, you accepted me knowing I had so many flaws…and you changed me…you’re the reason I am this way. You are my reason, Y/n.”
You look over at Megumi for a second, who moved himself to crawl, “Oh Toji,” You coo, cupping his face and giving him a passionate kiss, “I love you, I love you so much,” He whispered wrapping his arms around your waist and bringing you closer, “I love you, Toji,” You nuzzle your face into his chest holding him close, but in the corner of your eye you see something.
“Toji, look,” you tap his chest and point over to Megumi, who stood up. He always did that but what you didn’t expect was for him to take a couple steps forward. You both gasped, quickly sitting up as you watch your baby make his way to you. You feel your eyes well up with tears and you begin to clap excitedly, “he’s walking!” you cheer excitedly. Little Megumi makes it all the way to his parents. Toji is quickly to scoop him up and kiss him excitedly.
You both celebrate your babies big step in growing up. Which makes you so proud but so emotional, Toji is quick to wipe your tears. He kisses you once more and smiles, down at you then at his son, “My blessings,” He whispers.

can you do something about sukuna when a curse hits him and he ends up turning into a little baby and the reader will have to take care of her husband and son because they are both identical 😸
Please 😭😭 It’s terrible now that Yuji is the same height as his daddy he couldn’t be more ecstatic about being able to swing on him only to learn Ryomen can very much still use his Domain Expansion 🥹 I don’t know why it got sad out of now where that unwanted child comments been haunting me all week 😭🤍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh Ryomen…” you couldn’t help but stare sympathetically at your husband who was now just over 3 feet drowning in his clothes. Yuji was right there hugging his neck, “We’re the same height daddy now we can play!”
You wanted to tell Yuji not to see how Sukuna was trembling with teary eyes, the anger being too much for his little body. You wanted to coo at him but you felt so bad seeing him so small, finally you turned to your lady in waiting who was bowing on the floor in front of your little boys. “Lord Sukuna forgive I’m so sorry forgive me please I had no intention of doing this forgive me forgive me forgive me I beg for your mercy-“ she was cut off when a gash was sliced across her face, it wasn’t enough to kill her but enough to mark her as incompetent. You had to look away, his little chubby face was tilted back with an aggravated look his eyes were looking down on her. Yuji was still hugging and rubbing his face against his “daddy’s' ' shoulder. You almost thought he deserved a brother.
There you were picking him up to keep him from killing your lady in waiting. You expected him to kick and throw a tantrum instead he turned in your arms burying his face in your shoulder holding on tight to your robes. Yuji was pouting when he handed you his dads oversized robe that you tried to use to cover him up. He laid there sniffling, you could feel the heat of his face and the occasional tear.
“Aww is my little prince crying.” You could help but take his face in your hand and kiss all over his face. He wasn’t like Yuji who would start laughing and perk up, he put his hand on your lips stopping you while staring you down. You stared at each other until your fake bit his chubby fingers and he cracked a small smile. “Cmon Yuji, we need some of your clothes.”
Yuji perked up, taking your hand and looking up at his dad. He wanted to play but he guessed his dad can’t just run around naked. You were doing your best to dress Sukuna but this is how it went.
“Let’s see what we have,” you pulled out white pants and a white shirt, “No.”
“This?” It was a robe Yuji would wear in the summer, “No.”
“What about these?” You pulled out a fancy little set Yuji wore in one of your family portraits, “Nuh uh”
“Oh oh! What about this one daddy!” You watched Yuji jump out of the Chester of clothes, it was a costume he asked you to ask one of your ladies in waiting who was a good seamstress to make. It was Ryomen’s Iconic white robe, blue belt and scarf. It had matching socks also, this is what Sukuna got excited about. He took it from Yuji, not hesitating to strip from his oversized coat and into his new smaller robes. “Perfect.”
You saw him standing on the bed next to Yuji, Yuji looked so excited and you looked away. “I don’t need another, I don't need another, I don't need another.”
“Woman!” You turned back to Sukuna. His small voice was nowhere near as demanding or authoritative. You saw Yuji slide off the bed and run off, “I am hungry.” You cleared your throat, “right, let’s get you something to eat .” You looked around “Yuji baby are hungry?” “Nooo!” His voice was shaky, “‘m looking for something i'll eat later!” You watched as bent over half hanging in the drawer of clothes. “Are you sure?” “Mhmm!” “Alright, we’ll be in the kitchen if you get hungry okay?” He nodded “ookaay mommy” Sukuna slid off the bed and you couldn’t help but take his little hand, you looked at Yuji missing the look of shock on Ryomen’s face. You only looked back when you felt his little hand squeeze yours tighter. Your soft smile when you looked down at him. He wanted to rip his hand away and cross his arms over his chest, he’s not weak and he doesn’t need a hand to hold. He snapped his head away and you felt how his hand was shaky while he held on tight. “What’s wrong Ryomen?” He didn’t look at you, but you could see the red on his face, the little gloss over his eyes, you thought to yourself, ‘he’s probably never held someone’s hand. He was the cursed unwanted wretch of a child..’
You spent the next hour treating him like a complete child, the baby talk, sitting him on the counter and squishing his little cheeks even if he threatened to bite you, you never did. The way you’d hug him and kiss his cheeks and forehead. Letting him eat off the spoon while you cooked, he didn’t give you the cute little reactions Yuji did but his little puffed out cheeks and puts squeezed your heart. There you stood in front of him, he was sitting on the counter with an almost empty bowl. You watched him slurp the last of his noodles and awed at his little smile when he looked up at you. You could help but take his face in your hands and kiss his forehead, “My little baby boy.” He put his bowl down when you hugged him and did his best to hug you, his face on your chest, you let your chin rest on his head. “I love you Ryo.” He didn’t make a sound. You ran your hand up and down his back, “you okay baby?” He just hummed.
“Daddy!” You pulled away and broke into a big smile when you saw Yuji standing in the door. “Awww Yu.” You couldn’t help but coo over him. He was dressed exactly like Ryomen, and even had a poorly drawn mark on his forehead. You sat Yuji down to eat listening to him explain how he looked for the costume because he knew he had more than one and now he and daddy could play the King of Curses game he had just made up. Sukuna was standing by your side pulling on your sleeve while Yuji was stuffing his face quickly. You saw him, you genuinely saw him as a child in that instance. He didn’t have any marks on face or wrists. He looked naked, you had to stifle your laugh when he mumbled something you didn’t catch. “Daddy needs a mark too!” Was all Yuji said pointing at his own forehead. After Yuji finished eating you sat them both in front of your vanity, cleaning off their faces and taking a black pigment to draw the little mark Ryomen usually had on his forehead on both of them. They were almost identical twins except for the fact Yuji’s light brown eyes were innocent compared to Sukuna’s red eyes that now held a look of mischief.
before you knew it they were off. Both of them were running out into the garden racing to see who would get there first. It was a competition of who was better now. Still you trailed behind, calling your ladies in waiting to accompany you.
It was chaos, they tore up flowers, left muddy patches in the grass, their white robes were filthy at the bottoms and the pigments on their foreheads were running from sweating. Sukuna tackled Yuji and they tumbled into the koi pond, they were laughing and soaking wet, slipping while they tried to climb out. It was cute how they crawled out and laid on the grass. Your boys, laughing and kicking their legs, it made you awe. There was no doubt in your mind Ryomen didn’t get to experience this kind of fun from the very very faint and little details he’d given you of his past.
——————
It’s been a week, you woke up this morning sore and tired. Sukuna was half lying into your chest drooling and snoring, Yuji was laying backwards, he was spread out a foot pressed into your cheek the other on the pillow, one of his hands was spread out the other loosely holding Ryomens hand.
You tried to move, Yuji sat up slowly, not moving his foot from your face. You tried to sit up and Ryomen whined shaking his head back and forth protesting your sitting up. Still you held him in your lap as he clung to you with one hand, Yuji tried to wiggle into your lap hugging your other side. “‘’M sleepy” the weight of your mini husband and son drug you back down to the bed. You caved and fell back asleep pulling both of them into your sides.
You woke up screaming, jumping up in panic, running out the room ready to grab your kids just to find them tripping and tying up eunuchs to draw on their faces. They were squatting around a poor eunuch's face. Yuji was covering his smile with his little fists, and Sukuna was on his knees and one hand, the other drawing on his face, his tongue stuck out in concentration. You had to breathe and your lady in waiting ran up to you, “Lady y/n are you alright?! You ran out in just your intimate robes.” You sighed your heart beating in your throat “Yes, I just heard screaming so I was panicked.” It was scary, their heads snapped to look at you like wolves. They heard you and it was over, they were running over to you and you felt intimidated which led to you running back to your room being chased by Ryomen and Yuji.
“No! Stop, stop! No!” Your cries were in vain when they managed to take you down after entering your room. Laid out on the floor Sukuna sat on your butt leaning back into your back like a lounge, you groaned lifting your head to find Yuji squatting in front of you. “Mornin mommy.” You rested your cheek against your folded arms “Good Morning baby.”
——————-
It was another week, you were sitting on a stool in the bathroom robes pushed back, Ryomen was sitting between your legs on a smaller stool while you scrubbed him down. Yuji was splashing in the water, his skin tinted red from being scrubbed down also. Sukuna was angry, pouting with his fists pushed into his knees. “Ryo if you didn’t wanna be scrubbed then you shouldn’t have chased that skunk! Now both of you stink. And look at this!” You ran a hand through his hair little grains of dirt could be felt, “you still have sand in your hair.” He huffed before he crossed his arms over his chest, puffing out his cheeks. “M not stinky woman! It’s called manly musk!” You laughed “Manly musk, the only thing manly about you right now is your name Ryomen.” He yelped when you poured water over him, side eyeing you before you told him to go soak in the fragrant bath. The smell lingered on their clothes. You had them Burned and the handmaid's were quick to make new ones before they finished soaking.
——————
It was the start of the third week, you wanted your oversized husband back. You were tired of waking up to someone in your ribs and a foot in your face. The two had become so similar you ended up saying the wrong name three or four times before you got it right. The robes and painted marks didn’t help either. But here you were reclining on the front steps of the temple watching them one more time. Sukuna felt it before you saw him, Kenjaku was coming.
“What do you want!” He was bratty and snapping at him when he was in sight.
“Oh, I didn’t know the king of curses had another son. An exact replica I would say too.” Kenjaku picked him up by the scruff of his robes, Sukuna was kicking and wiggling before Yuji ran over “Let him go!” And started beating the man’s legs. Kenjaku shook Sukuna, “hey Kid is Ryomen Sukuna home or isn’t he?” “M not answering you.”
Kenjaku’s eye twitched “Why not?” “Because your brain is freaky! Who needs to open their heads, freak!” Yuji screamed, still swinging on Kenjaku’s leg. Kenjaku tried to lightly push Yuji back and that’s when Sukuna smacked his hands together, “DOMAIN EXPANSION”
It was unstable, he was Ryomen Sukuna, but his cursed energy was the same as a child’s.
You heard the chime and drip. Everything in you lit up and you started running, what the hell was happening Yuji, Ryo please please don’t do anything stupid.
“Ah shit-“ Kenjaku was quick to make his disappearance at the scene when he heard your steps.
“Ryomen!” You took a deep breath “Yuji!” You could feel the residuals of another person.
“What happened!?” You were kneeling in front of Sukuna, hands on his shoulders with a panicked look. He was okay, that was until you heard sniffles and crying. You snapped around Yuji was sitting on the floor with a gash across his crying. You let Sukuna go and ran over to Yuji picking him up. “Shh shh shh, it’s okay let me see.” You tried to pull his hands away from his face. There were cuts across his nose and across one of his eyebrows. “come here Yu.” You sat on the ground pulling him into your lap even when he resisted while crying. Placing your hand carefully on his face cupping his cheek you started to use your reverse cursed technique to heal cuts.
You watched as they closed and slowly started to heal over. You didn’t notice how Sukuna looked scared, for once the king of curses looked vulnerable. When you were done with Yuji, what were you going to do to him? Were you going to abuse him the way his parents had? Would you treat him like a wretch, an unwanted curse. Would you scream at him and raise your hand at him? “…Yuji…” his voice was so small when he tried to get closer. You turned to him, you saw those teary eyes and you were confused, when you licites your hand to try and pull him closer he flinched away. “What’s wrong Ryo?” He watched you put your hand down on Yuji who stopped crying. He looked down, shaking his head, before Yuji spoke up “m Okay it wasn’t too bad.”
Both of you saw how Sukuna’s eyes looked up but he wouldn’t lift his face. You nodded with your head, “Come here Ryo.” He slowly walked over hands behind his back before standing next to you still not looking you in the eye. “You okay?” Your hand came up to touch his back and he just stood there, Yuji was still sitting in your lap looking up at his dad. You watched those little tears drip off his chin, before you pulled him down into your side hugging him, “Don’t cry Sukuna, you didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t mean to hurt Yuji.” Yuji crawled over trying to hug him also, “‘ts okay.”
You did your best to hold both of them, rubbing their heads with your hands as they held onto you. Taking turns in kissing their heads and rubbing their backs. Sukuna still hadn’t said anything, “m sorry.” His voice was shaky and you squeezed him harder, “oh Ryomen.” You sat there holding both of them until One of them fell asleep. Yuji walked beside you while you carried his mini dad, this was the only time you’d ever be able to carry him without his soul crushing weight. Yuji ran off to his room. When you made it inside, you took Sukuna to your shared room, laying him on the bed. Brushing his hair back carefully, you pressed a kiss to his forehead, “I love you Ryo, none of this was your fault, you shouldn’t have to carry burdens that aren’t yours.” Pulling the blanket over him you sat down, you saw his eyes barely open before he fell asleep again.
——————-
“Y/n…” it was the soft call of your name that woke you up.
Yuji was sitting in your lap holding on to you. You back was stiff and your neck popped when you tried to stretch.
“Hm,” you didn’t bother trying to open your eyes. “Woman,” you sat up trying to rub your eyes and not let your sleeping Yuji fall, “Ryomen?” There he was in his full frontal glory that made you do a double take before looking up at him, “Where’s your clothes???”
He ignored your question, taking your face in one of his hands, he leaned in closer and you were going to kiss him until he ghosted your lips and pressed a rare soft kiss to your forehead, “There is no doubt you are a fine mother.”

Satoru had agreed to take an extra shift, with the threat of bad weather, and he regretted it-- this storm was biblical. The skies were so black and pregnant with rain, it may as well have been night. The billowing rains slapped and stung Satoru's cheeks. Drivers were blinded, their wipers failing to clear their windscreens even at maximum speed. People stumbled, buffeted into the roads by violent winds. And Satoru's sense of humour could only get him so far when members of the public made increasingly irrational decisions, and placed themselves in danger.
But not you, he thought, as he stepped into the wild torrents of overflowing river water, to the dismayed shouts of his colleagues, you absolutely don't deserve to die like this.
Trying to head home, kept cruelly late by a manager who didn't care how far you had to travel, you had missed your bus, and had to take a dangerous detour over a little river bridge, public transport services all abruptly cancelled. One violent sweep of wind was all it took to rock you over the little fence, and you clung desperately to weeds on the riverbank, soaked, shivering, gulping at murky, frigid, terrifyingly climbing waves.
"I'm coming," shouted the fireman, white-haired, tall, throwing off his heavy uniform jacket, with no regard for his own safety, "just hold on, I'll get you out, I promise--" Satoru sloshed and slipped, his t-shirt muddy and plastered to his chest as he slid down the riverbank. He allowed his colleagues to hurriedly harness him. Hitting the water, his abs clenched painfully with the cold, and he began to wade towards you.
You cried out, feeling your grip on life be washed away as the riverbed crumbled, releasing the weeds you clung to. As the river grasped you, your hands flung desperately out, holding your breath, praying, praying--
An enormous hand gripped your own, and a long forearm drew you close with one almighty heave. Satoru dug his fingers deep into the river wall, feeling the jarring rub of stones embedded in smooth wet squelch.
"Don't let go, just hold onto me--" Satoru reached under the water, gripping your thighs and making you grasp them around his hips. You flung your arms round his neck, your face in his chest, and he held you like this, stepping back against the onslaught of the river as his colleagues reeled you both in.
Still carrying you, his arms locked under your bum, Satoru staggered up the riverbank, drenched, chest heaving you up and down against him. You glanced up at him meekly, trembling and cold. Satoru sighed, grinning down at you.
"Come on then. Tell me your name, 'cos we're gonna have to get undressed for me to warm you up."

A wave of heat slapped across Kento's face, and he pulled equipment to his body in a practiced rush. A smash and a roar burst from the inferno in front of him, as a window exploded, blackened glass spraying through the air. The apartment block was being gutted as he watched.
"Sir! Sir!"
"What is it, Ino?"
"Evacuation incomplete, sir. There's someone left on the second floor."
Kento pulled his mask down, eyes shooting up to an opened window, a white sheet hanging out of it, flapping as the heat rose from below. Crews around him shouted to be overheard in the roar of flame, with cannons shooting water, attempting to quell the fire from the lower floors. Crowds of pyjama'd residents were herded away, confused and bleary-eyed as flames ate their homes.
"Is the left stairwell clear, Ino?" Takuma faltered as Kento stamped his boots into place, yanking on his gloves.
"For-- for now-- you can't be serious sir--" Kento huffed inside his mask, clapping Ino on the shoulder, Ino buckling slightly at the strength behind it.
"I'm always serious, Ino."
Without another word, Kento stepped towards the building, sweating in his suit as he moved into a stairwell, belching smoke. His senses were dulled, his vision boxed-in, hearing his own panting breaths in the fishtank of his helmet. Taking the stairs two at a time, he hesitated and turned at the top; Kento looked down the stairs, feeling heat scorch up towards him, the fire spreading rapidly, closing off his exit.
Out of time, he thought. Approaching a corridor, its doorway jammed, swollen and warped, Kento lifted a foot and kicked it effortlessly through with a roar, the door splintering and buckling under his boot.
"Are you here? Shout for me," Kento bellowed into the corridor. His ears pricked at the shouts and coughs from the end of the corridor. Building into as much of a run as his equipment would allow, he reached another door, its paint raised and wrinkled by the heat.
Kento stepped back, turning sideways as he rammed the door with his shoulder, once, twice, three times, and barrelled through as it splintered under his weight.
Spinning his head, he saw you, crouched on the floor beneath your window, terrified and relieved in your pyjamas. Kento stepped to you, kneeling, his gloved hands moving over your body, checking you for injury. You stared into him, unable to stop yourself from grabbing his forearms, hands shaking and cold despite the blazing heat churning through the floor.
"I thought-- I thought I was going to die here," you gasped, trembling. Kento's heart creaked, and he was surprised, shaking it off-- do your job, Kento, he chastised himself.
"At least if we die here, we won't die alone. Can you stand?" You nodded, rising on shaking legs, and immediately dropped down, your eyes stinging and burning from the smoke billowing across the ceiling, pouring in from the corridor.
Kento's heart dropped to his stomach as the floor shook- an almighty crash down the corridor signified its collapse. Keeping you close with one arm round your waist, Kento leaned out of your window. With a grateful lurch, he could see his colleagues ready with the parachute canopy, waving, calling, beckoning him down.
Kento pulled you close, your back against his chest, both arms wrapped in an arresting grip around your belly and chest-- "Do you trust me?" His heart skipped again as you turned your head, gazing into him through his visor, nodding.
Kento sat backwards on the window ledge, forcing you to sit on his lap. He tried to bracket you with his arms and legs, giving a satisfied grunt as you pressed yourself hard against him.
"On three," he toned, low and heady in your ear, "...one." You squealed and squeezed his arm as he dropped backwards, both of you gripped by gravity and hauled earthwards. Kento grunted as you landed in the parachute, shielding you from impact.
The weightlessness continued as the parachute was carried from the building and placed gently on the ground. Shouts and cheers and roaring flames rang into the night, and heavy gloved hands clapped on Kento's arms and shoulders, from which you had not been released. You trembled in his lap, feeling his chest heave against your back.
When Kento broke out of his reverie, he caught your eyes staring up at him, soft and grateful, trying to see him through his helmet.
"My hero," you whispered, just quiet enough for him to hear. Kento's heart stuttered. He lifted one gloved hand and removed his helmet, blond hair messy, a fine sheen of sweat across his cheeks, his brown eyes flickering amber in the firelight. You bit your lip, drinking him in. He still had not let you go.
Geto

The whispering crowd was infected; the morbid curiosity of a thronging mass, negated the base empathy of its participants, and replaced it with a spectacle-hungry monster.
Suguru felt the grumbling rubber-neckers by the bridge be reluctantly pushed back by police officers. The first out of his fire truck, Suguru pushed through, sleek as a fish swimming upstream, and ducked under the police officers' arms, unhindered due to uniform privilege. He picked up pace as he approached the stairs, his heart in his mouth.
And, on the railings of the bridge, stood you; you trembled, so exposed and vulnerable. Nothing could make this better. Nothing could ease this naked agony. Nothing in death could be more painful than the burden of life. Nothing could possibly eke you back from the edge of this--
"Hey. I'm Suguru. I'm sorry this is happening to you."
His voice pierced your reverie, and the world slowed around you both. The passage of leaves on the wind stilled. The collective voice hushed. The railings gripped you tightly by the hands.
"And it's not going to be easy. Coming back from this. Getting better."
Your lips puckered upwards and you hiccuped, your sobs wet, your nose dripping. As you shook, one foot slipped off the edge of the bridge and the crowd shrieked as you partially dropped, the collective voice now drowning you, leaves twirling on a whirlwind, railings forsaking you--
You felt two strong arms grip around your waist. Scrabbling against them with stress-bitten nails, your foot tried to gain purchase again. Your weak little heart caved at the effort required and you teetered, weeping and floppy, half-on and half-off the bridge.
"I can let go of you. If you need me to. I understand. But...I don't think you do want me to."
Embraced like this, you felt warm. It was much easier leaping from the cold air than from warm arms, which had given you permission both to die, and to live. Your heart creaked, the choice suddenly made easy.
"Pull me up," you sobbed as you felt the arms tighten around you, "pull me up pull me up pull me u--"
You fell with a thud against the warm voice, and grasped onto it, curled into its lap, sobbing your heart out, the crowd beneath you sounding both relieved and disappointed. The warm voice soothed you, rocked you, stroked your hair.
You found yourself, in a few slow blinks, sat in the back of an ambulance, hands trembling around a hot drink, wrapped in a silver foil blanket. You stared blankly, numb, into the rising steam. A few short taps came from the ambulance door.
You looked up to see a beautiful man who you didn't recognise, handsome, slanted eyes glimmering, his long black hair pulled up into a bun. Your heart skipped a beat as you recognised to whom the warm voice belonged.
"You should be proud of yourself. It's not easy accepting help. Can I sit with you?"
Ino

The road was carnage, with debris scattered across tarmac, the remnants of one car smouldering weakly in dying flames, and the cries and sobs of a bloodied man being carried away on a stretcher. Still, the queue of traffic behind beeped and cussed, so outrageously inconvenienced.
Your car was crushed around you, the splitting pain in your leg made so much worse by the anxious claustrophobia of these crumpled walls, and not knowing how injured you really were. The sickening speed of the crashrolltumblecrash that had trapped you here, replayed in your mind on repeat. You felt panic claw up your throat, tasting your own blood as it dripped down your cheek and into your mouth.
"Wow, girl! You really didn't like this car, huh?"
The ridiculous flippancy of the statement was so incongruous, you laughed. Sniffling and trembling, you looked sideways through broken glass. A young man, his face friendly and open, squashed in his helmet, stared back at you, a sympathetic smile in his eyes.
"My name's Takuma. I'm here to get you out of this car, me and my friends. You look like you could use some help." Your lips pinched and you moved to nod, but Takuma's hands darted out, his fingertips to your cheeks and temples, holding your head.
"No. Don't. Your neck could be injured. Just...still as you can, okay? Good girl."
Takuma reached into a pocket, pulling out earplugs and putting them in for you, gingerly pulling a pair of goggles over your eyes. He removed them again briefly, gently swiping his thumb over a drip of blood about to run into your eye, wiping it on his trousers, replacing the goggles.
Takuma and his crew made short work of cutting through the pillars of your wrecked car, lifting the roof and doors off as if they were made of cardboard. After paramedics confirmed the integrity of your spine, hips and legs, Takuma managed to kneel beside your seat, working to release your trapped leg.
Fearful, your hand reached out, lying on Takuma's shoulders, gripping the back of his collar. Wordlessly, and without looking back, Takuma shook off one glove as his other hand worked, and reached up to hold your hand in his, rested together on his shoulder. You felt a curious tranquility run through you at his effortless kindness.
Your foot released, with a rush of pain as blood throbbed in your toes. You felt a twinge of disappointment as Takuma stepped back, allowing himself to be replaced by the concerned hands of medics.
"Not every day you get to be rescued by someone so handsome, huh?" Takuma laughed, framing his jaw faux-smugly between his thumb and forefinger. You smiled up at him, cute and appreciative in a way that made his belly clench.
"No. It's not every day I get to be rescued by someone so handsome."
You did not realise heroes could blush so sweetly.
Megumi
Tumblr media
"Here. C'mon boy-- over here. You-- over there. Good boys."
Megumi expertly directed his dogs, one black and one white, against the threat of night-time's approach. News crews inconvenienced him, and he scowled, traversing rubble and wires as shouting rescuers tried desperately to set up floodlights. A chill bit through the air.
"...tonight, as a 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked the city. The search for survivors continues as..."
Megumi raised his head to the tune of three short barks from his dog, and he jogged to the corner of a collapsed school, feeling his heart drop to his stomach. His black dog pointed keenly to a crushingly large pile of rubble, no building left for lessons and lunchtimes. Megumi reached into his pocket, offering his dog a treat, scratching its ears and head to the tune of a proud wagging tail.
"Good boy, good boy. Wait here for me." Megumi headed to the rubble, keen eyes scouring, ears astute and listening. He found an opening, the remnants of a collapsed doorway. He heard shuffles, coughs. He shoved some loose brickwork aside, and you felt rays of evening sunlight pierce what you thought was to be your grave.
"Can you hear me?" shouted Megumi, and you clung to his voice from your little coffin. Your eyes pricked with tears as the shadow of a young man blocked the rays of light, and he raised a torch, creating a beam of light, illuminating yourselves to each other.
"You got under a table?" Megumi asked, impressed, appreciative, "That saved your life. Good job."
You smiled wetly, your cut hands clotted with brick dust, and you moved to come out from under the table towards him. A perilously leaning wall teetered above you as you emerged, and you felt a shadow begin to drop over you.
With a scream, and Megumi's harsh shout, you braced for impact...and felt none. Your body felt suddenly warm, pleasantly cushioned. Opening your eyes you felt the young man lying full-length across you, his forearms braced on the floor, impossibly strong as he shielded you from the collapsed brickwork. You gasped, still and shocked, as he planked against you.
"Get yourself out. Now," he grunted. You nodded, slithering out from underneath him, leaving bloodied handprints on the brickwork as you clambered out to safety. A rough groan behind you signified Megumi somehow shaking most of a wall off his back, and crawling out to meet you.
Again, impossibly, you were the one who swayed on your feet, and Megumi reached his hands out to steady you. Two eager dogs sniffed around you both, and Megumi's frown deepened with a pretty pink blush as you gazed into him with unabashed admiration.
"Get yourself to the medics," Megumi grumbled, rubbing brick dust out of his spiky hair, "they'll help you from he--"
"I will. If you give me your number."
"You-- you are out of your mind."
Yuuji
Tumblr media
Yuuji lowered his visor, and regretted it immediately as the rain slapped against it. Reluctantly, he raised it, feeling instant cool trickles from fringe to eyebrows. Blinking water away, he crowded amongst his colleagues, all fresh fire-service arrivals to provide relief and rescue from this flooded valley town.
Twisting round, flicking muddy splatters, Yuuji's ears pricked as his Captain, Nanami Kento, barked orders.
"Ino, Maki-- provide aid and rescue for the eastern quarter. Kugisaki, to the west. Itadori--"
Nanami hesitated at Yuuji, who would have been wagging his tail if he had one. On a hitched breath, Nanami continued.
"Itadori, survey the northern lane's integrity before we move towards evacuation. Do not," Nanami warned, slanted eyes narrow through his visor, "do anything dangerous."
Yuuji appeared thoughtful; "And by dangerous, you mean...?"
"Itadori."
"Got it sir. Nothing dangerous," Yuuji offered with a wink and a salute. Nanami stared after him with silent despair as Yuuji jogged, splashing down the waterlogged lane.
Yuuji hummed to himself, his voice breaking and springing as he jogged, blowing rivulets of water away from his lips, slipping through the mud road between lanes, hedges, trees, descending down a winding hill. He heard the hushed roar of torrents of water, and rounded the corner curiously.
The river had burst its banks, submerging a hidden dip in the road. The water sloshed, murky with sediment, lapping at an enormous felled tree, underneath which--
"Shit...shit!" Yuuji cussed, seeing a small car, almost completely submerged, partially crushed under the weight of the tree. Yuuuji sprinted, feet slapping and skidding in the wet slop of the road. Inside the car, splashes, and a desperate wet voice.
"Oh fuck--hang on, just hang on, I'll get you out." Yuuji sloshed into the flood, chest deep, keeping his footing as the undercurrent threatened to sweep him away. Leaping over felled creaking branches, rattling in the wind, Yuuji met a pair of small pale hands at the window of the car. He pressed his broad palms flat against the glass, your last remaining barrier to complete submersion.
Tear-stained, awaiting death, you stared out at him, hyperventilating, gasping, "I don't want to die here-- not like this-- I can't get out--" Yuuji took a step back, eyes wide and fearful, brimming with doubt. You saw this in him, and your lips puckered, sobbing, snotty and cold.
"I know," you reassured him as you shook, "there's nothing you can do...the tree-- you can't move it in time. I can't-- I can't--"
"I can."
You stopped, palms flat against the glass, sweet eyes boring into Yuuji, and he was possessed by malcontent.
"I can," he insisted, throwing his yellow jacket and helmet off to sink away into the muddy depths. His black t-shirt clung to his form. Even young and drenched, he looked...powerful. Still, you shook your head, slowly at first until you filled with certainty.
"You can't," you insisted, assuaging him from guilt, "you're not strong eno--"
"No, I'm strong. I'm really strong. Not smart, but--" Yuuji pulled his gloves up, taking a staggered stance with his palms flat under the tree. He turned sideways, eyes wide and innocent as he grinned.
Teeth gritting, Yuuji roared as he heaved the tree trunk. His arms shook, wet biceps bulging against his sleeves as he heaved and bellowed. As you opened your mouth to insist he stop, the words caught in your throat-- somehow, in a masterclass feat of strength, you saw the tree trunk begin to lift off the roof of the car, taking pressure off the frames and doors.
"Oh my god," you squeaked, voice strangled in amazement, "keep going, you're doing it, good boy good boy good boy--"
With one final wild exertion, Yuuji shunted the tree, and it rolled with a thick splash down the bonnet. Wading towards the car, Yuuji gripped the door handle, ready to pull against the stunning mass of water.
"When I open this, the car's gonna fill up," he pondered aloud, "so..."
"I'll reach out for you," you nodded, gasping, the water up to your chin. Yuuji's lips curled appreciatively, and he maintained eye contact as he counted down.
"Three, two, one...go!" Yuuji grunted, heaving the door open, filled with terror as your face disappeared in a rush of brown. Shoving his thick thigh into the gap, he reached in, begging, praying--
-- Yuuji felt two cold hands grip his forearms, and he gripped in return, heaving you through the torrent into his arms.
In mutual relief, chests heaving against each other, you coughed and spluttered in Yuuji's arms, fingers sinking into his hair, planting wet kisses of thanks to his cheeks.
"You saved my life," you pressed, voice breaking, "How am I ever...how can I ever...?"
"You can...just call me 'good boy' again? Just once more?"
Higuruma
Tumblr media
"Shit-- it's spread so fucking fast--"
Higuruma Hiromi wasn't sure if the crushing, oppressive heat was coming from the sun, the scorched earth beneath his feet, or the wall of flames devastating the dry summer forest before him.
Eyes wide and appalled, his frown wrinkled his hooked nose, drips of sweat trickling through spiky black hair and onto the thirsty earth. His black t-shirt was claustrophobically tight against prickling skin, and he ran two hands down his chest before pulling on his yellow jacket and helmet.
With a sharp intake of breath, he began to boom orders to his scurrying team; "you know what to do-- restrict the spread, we have to stop this encroaching on the--"
"Sir, please! Please, listen, there's someone in there--"
Hiromi's head snapped round, hawkish black eyes like beetles in the firelight, and landed on a park ranger, fighting to be heard over the roar of flame and barrier-arms of police officers. Hiromi stomped over to him, one harsh finger pointed in the officers' face to prevent his interruption before he could start.
"You say there's someone in there? In the forest? Be clear," Hiromi commanded. The park ranger gulped.
"One of the other rangers, she-- she's trying to save some of the bird-boxes-- endangered species--"
Hiromi laughed, humourless, as he rubbed his face, gazing to the heavens, between two long-fingered hands.
"Endangered species-- she's a fucking endangered species, at this rate--" Hiromi laughed again, breathing in through his mouth, and out with a sandy groan and a decision.
"Begin at the edges," he commanded to his team, jogging towards a break in the trees, "I'll be back, if I'm lucky." Hearing the frantic shouts of his team beckoning him back, Hiromi's boots stamped over the embering earth, all noise fading and replaced by hellish heat and the lick of devil's tongues.
Hiromi panted, chest heaving as it gulped in heavy air and ashes, embering leaves wisping to the floor around him. Spotting a sign, its information barely legible as the paint wrinkled up from the surface, he sprinted onwards through the inferno, leaping over logs, skidding through wafer-dry foliage, the flames in the branches above him creating the burnt-umber sunset of a hellscape.
Approaching a circular fence, the bird sanctuary was engulfed, and inexplicably, a woman halfway up a tall wooden ladder was detaching a bird-box from the side of a tree. Hiromi skidded to a halt, incredulous, snorting in derision.
Your skin felt as dry as tanned leather on your cheeks as you tucked the bird-box under your arm and began to step down the ladder. Just one more, you thought, I can get just one mo--
"I don't like to interrupt someone passionate about their job, but are you quite finished?"
You jumped, clasping the bird-box to your chest as Hiromi loomed over you, his anger rising so much taller than he was. You swallowed, tongue like sandpaper, answering honestly.
"I'm not, actually, I've got one more to--"
Hiromi's gloved hands had cupped around the birdbox, gently plucking it out of your hands and into his. You squealed indignantly as he ducked, throwing you over his shoulder with one arm, grunting as you wriggled and kicked.
"Do as you're told," Hiromi chastised as you thumped at his back with your fists, crying out, sobbing as he carried you away, "I appreciate your diligence but--"
"No, please-- just listen--" you sobbed, reaching back as he carried you and the single bird-box away, "--the eggs-- the last breeding pair--"
Hiromi stopped despite himself, feeling the flames ringing closer around him. He tapped his foot, furious, considerate. Placing you down with a huff, he walked back to the ladder. As he picked it up, he shot you a hot-eyed look of sarcastic inquisition. Lips puckering mulishly, you pointed to the tree beside him.
Wordlessly, his body language dramatically muted, Hiromi placed the ladder and took it two rungs at a time. Removing the birdbox, gripping it in one fist, Hiromi slid down the sides of the ladder and stamped back to you, pressing the bird-box into your arms beside the other.
As your eyes melted at him in a soft little smile, embracing your bird-boxes, Hiromi blushed, glaring at you without venom. He ducked down in front of you slightly, not breaking eye-contact. Your head tilted owlishly, and Hiromi felt his belly twist in odd delight.
"What are you--" the air was thumped out of you as Hiromi hefted you over his shoulder again, and he huffed out a laugh as you swore at him. You clung to your bird-boxes as he ran through the flames, gasping and squeaking as he leapt over, under, through...
Hiromi burst out of the forest and into the open, cooled instantly by the wind-carried cool spray of a dozen hoses. Hiromi dropped you down, and you fell to your knees beside each other, panting, feeling the water drizzle down your bodies.
"So," Hiromi gasped, throwing off his jacket and t-shirt, groaning at the cool water dripping down his chest, "tell me about your birds."
You pressed your forehead to his bare-chest, breath grazing across it as you laughed, sending shivers down Hiromi's spine. Resting your cheek on him, looking up with lovestruck, appreciative eyes, Hiromi wondered faintly that he could listen to you tell him about birds all night.
Sukuna
Tumblr media
This was the worst day of your life. You had made a horrible error of judgement, and you prayed to the god who had forsaken you, steeping in the consequences of your own actions. You would live the rest of your days in terror, stomach cold and gripped and roiling with fear, never happy again--
To the amused intrigue of onlookers, you were enjoying an extra-long ride at the top of a colourful Ferris Wheel. But you were afraid of heights, and had chosen a beautiful summers' day to challenge yourself. And then the Ferris Wheel got stuck. And now you were going to die up here.
You slid off the seat and onto the floor, and sobbed as your little carriage rocked in the wind. The Ferris Wheel creaked, and you felt a cold terrified sweat drop down your chest, your hands flinging out to clutch the seats. Head tipped back and eyes closed, you felt panic settling in--
"Oi. Woman. Do you want this, or not?"
You shrieked at the suddenly-appearing pink-haired man clung to the outer bars of your carriage, his face nothing short of bored and pissed off as he held a bottle of water out to you.
"What the fuck-- are you doing up here-- did you climb here?"
Sukuna snorted at you, eyes narrowed and cruel as he took you in, all sweat and tears and skirt tucked all the way up to your hips.
"Look at you, what a fucking mess," he cooed to your furious blushes, eyes brimming with tears again, "you're normally my type, but--"
"Are you just here to make fun of me?" You hiccuped, snatching the bottle of water out of his hand, unscrewing the cap as Sukuna laughed at you. With a wicked glint in his eye, Sukuna jumped his feet against the bars, rocking it, and you shrieked, clinging to the seats and sloshing water over your thighs as he laughed harder.
"Oh baby," he mocked, "you scared of heights? Want me to hold your hand?" He lifted his feet to rock the carriage again, but stopped, frowning as you answered.
"Yes," you hiccuped, "please. Hold my hand." As your little hand slid up the wall of the carriage towards his gripped around the bars, Sukuna snorted, turning his face away from you.
"It's hot," he stated, blunt, "I was told to bring you water. I've done my job. I'm not gonna hold your--"
"Please." His stomach flipped, cock twitching involuntarily inside his uniform as you begged. Sukuna snorted again, ignoring you. As you started to sniffle, weeping, your hand slid down away from his. A heartbeat passed, and you felt a strong, warm hand reach in, fingers plaiting through yours.
"You're pathetic," he mocked, still staring out across the sea, his voice a little softer now, "what the hell are you doing in a Ferris Wheel if you're afraid of heights?"
"I wanted...I wanted to see if I could--"
"Idiot. Now you're stuck here," he snapped, almost sounding concerned, his heart fluttering in a way that made his neck prickle as you rested your tear-dampened cheek against his hand in yours.
You and Sukuna stayed this way, your cheek against your fingers plaited in his. The carriage became gradually bathed in a warm pink sunset, lighting up the coral of his hair. The sway was gentle, a little boat on lilting tide.
Finally, a short jolt rumbled the carriage to life, and it began to trail in a circle back towards the ground.
Just before your carriage ground to a halt, Sukuna spoke, slow and mischievous.
"Hey. Woman."
"What?" you answered, unaware of your skirt hitched up around your waist.
"Cute little panties you've got there."
The shrieks of rage and cackling laughter could be heard all the way down to the beach.

"You've called-- you've called him in? Are you out of your mind?" Satoru gaped at Nanami, his fellow Captain, gobsmacked as Nanami pursed his lips in irritation.
The fire-truck was parked to the side of the main road; all cars were halted, abandoned, swarmed by rioters in scarves and balaclavas, hundreds upon hundreds of them, a swirling mass of destruction in the streetlights. Riot police vainly attempted to form a blockade, stumbling as bodies slipped past them, shop windows smashing, flaming bottles tossed.
"We need the bodies," Nanami pressed, stripping his t-shirt off, thick muscular arms reaching into the truck to find a clean one, "how often do the riot police call us in for support? Besides, he looks...intimidating. He may serve as a...deterrent."
Satoru snorted derisively, "He was fired for a reason, Nanami, mark my--"
"Hey, kid, long time no see."
Satoru stiffened as a shadow loomed over him, one heavy hand clapping down on his shoulder. Toji smirked, his scar twisted, raising his boot to put out his cigarette on the sole. He stamped his boots into place, his yellow rubber trousers tatty and worn, jacketless and terrifyingly ripped in a tight black t-shirt.
"So..." Toji continued, staring into the chaos ahead of him, "support the cops, yeah?" He sucked his teeth, rolling his shoulders. Nanami nodded, brisk, shoving a helmet towards Toji, grimacing as it was immediately rejected. Nanami shrugged, not wishing to waste time arguing, and directed the firemen towards the crowd to encourage some form of calm.
Toji stayed back, choosing where to go. At a glance, he saw a young woman duck down behind a car, arm raised to toss an egg at the back of a police officer's head. You caught Toji's eye, a bandana pulled up covering your lower face, and he laughed under his breath as your eyes twinkled mischievously.
"Little minx," he muttered, admiring the quiet subversion. Laughing out loud as you tossed the egg, landing a direct hit, Toji moved on, stepping towards a shop, his passive presence alone enough to scatter the looters inside.
The pressure from the crowd built, peaking, and Toji felt the mood in the air change from rave gone overboard to aggression and spite.
Seeing the crowd pulse and surge, Toji spotted you in the front, crushed, buffeted against the officers' riot shields. You caught his eye again, now desperate and pained, instead of playful. Toji felt himself clench, stepping in behind two of the riot officers, who barely had time to glance at him between wild shouts at the crowd.
Easily, with two strong hands, Toji parted the shields just enough for you to drop through, and he caught you, lifting you as if you weighed nothing. As you stared up at him, speechless and waiting to be arrested, he looked down at you, the glimmer in his eyes threatening shenanigans.
"I don't know about you," he drawled, low and slow, "but these clowns couldn't break a nail, let alone a crowd." You laughed, tinkling and sweet, and Toji felt a burst of ego for having caused it.
"Ever been in a fire truck, sweetheart?"
Moments later, the fire truck rumbled to life, its sirens ringing and flashing in warning. The pressure of the crowd eased for a moment, hundreds of enquiring eyes on you and Toji in the front seats, one of his hands resting across your belly, protective, shielding you in place.
The enquiring eyes turned fearful as the fire truck reversed, then slowly swung to face the crowd and riot officers alike, revving.
With a smirk, Toji allowed the truck to jolt forwards. The crowd cried out collectively, its stance breaking, dozens of people scattering to escape the scene. Revving again, the truck jolted forwards once more, harder this time. Half the crowd stumbled, falling over themselves to run. With one final booming rev, the crowd shrieked and shouted, scattering like spiders up and down the length of the street, no act of protest apparently worth getting run over for.
And as you and Toji were pulled, laughing, from the fire-truck, both being slammed and cuffed against the nearest police car, your eyes met, and your bandana slipped down to reveal your lovely grin.
Toji smirked, heads on the car facing each other. Shooting you a wink which made you giggle and blush, he snorted to think that maybe he was just the right dismissed ex-fireman to get the job done.

HATE THAT I LOVE YOU || part 1.
mean!sukuna ryomen x reader
Tumblr media
It's already a part of Sukuna's personality to be mean, always throwing insults at every person he finds annoying here and there. And you were no exception. You ran after him like a lovesick puppy, happily smiling at his rejections, confessing to him multiple times how much you like him, and Sukuna wanted so much to strangle you for your persistence.
But when you stopped showing interest, maybe... just maybe, Sukuna didn't like the sound of it.
contents: sukuna x reader, soft!reader, reader is oblivious to sukuna's insults, mean!sukuna, golden retriever x black cat trope, reader is a happy pill (not to sukuna tho, yet), hurt/slight angst, modern college AU, sukuna is in a band, bassist!sukuna, not proofread, jjk characters in a band, siblings yuji and sukuna
warnings: cursing, slight nsfw
Note: THIS WAS A REPOST (?) kinda. I accidentally posted it from my drafts without even finishing the whole fic, and I WAS GONE FOR A MOMENT AND WENT BACK AND SAW PEOPLE LIKING IT ALREADY AND I WAS LIKE ?????? 😭 so for the sake of people who already read it, im just going to post it again now and hope you come back for part 2 😭
***
Who's going to tell her?
Yuji, Sukuna's younger brother, smiled sadly at you when he saw you leaving another love letter for his sibling inside his locker. It was the fifth time since last month, and you haven't given up on Sukuna despite how he harshly told you that he's never going to like somebody like yourself. And Yuji witnessed it all as he remembers you picking up the scattered sweets on the floor that Sukuna pushed away from your hand, pitying at your helpless state.
But you still smiled at Sukuna after the rejection, Yuji didn't even know if it was forced or not, but he really admired you for your bravery.
Who's going to tell you that you're only going to end up hurting yourself in the end?
Sukuna almost forgot to breathe when he sees you in front of the school building, your head turning from left to right as you wait for him. He cursed, knowing how he's going to have to deal with you so early in the morning. And he wanted to complain so much why there's only one entrance in this damn forsaken university.
Your eyes lit up when you saw him, like a puppy wagging its tail when they saw their owner. You paid no mind as Sukuna gave you a death stare as he walked right passed, ignoring your little happy greeting. What a way to ruin his morning...
"Sukuna!–"
"Get lost."
But you smiled to yourself, just following Sukuna from behind. You were a new student to this school for almost a year now, a year younger than Sukuna, and just how lucky he is that he's the person you laid your eyes upon.
People always see you as the positive energy that roams around the school hallways, always smiling at people, and being the social butterfly that seems to never run out of social battery. You were kind to kids, you liked helping school admins or facilitators when you see them walking with a heavy workload, you were friends with your professors (even the strict ones), and everybody likes you for your kind nature ever since you first move to this university.
So why would you like someone so opposite from you?
Ryomen Sukuna, the school band's bassist. Girls fawn after him, but not as much as you do. Everybody knows how cold and mean of a person he was, and he didn't like it when anybody came his way. He'd straight up reject every confession from the girls who had the courage to come up to him, but whenever Sukuna said 'no' to them, hearts seemed to pop out from their eyes, because then again, it's Sukuna. It didn't matter to the girls if they were rejected. At least Sukuna graced them with his attention, and his cold, baritone voice.
But even after a rejection, the girls will just giggle and stop. Some will come back a few times, but no one ever did it like you.
Everyday, you never fail to wait for Sukuna so early in the morning to arrive at school. You'd greet him with a cheeky smile, eyes squinting happily at seeing his face, and Sukuna responds with a grunt, glaring at you as he harshly bumps your shoulder just to walk passed.
You didn't care though. You believed Sukuna just built a wall around him, and you're more than willing to break it.
"I like you, Sukuna!"
You are insane.
It's obvious on Sukuna's face that he already had enough of your nonsense, watching you confess to him for the hundredth time. There was a dark aura glooming his features, and yours were as bright as the sun, signifying how their dynamics are contrasting and unfitting for each other. But do you even care?
Sukuna tried to search your eyes for any signs of embarrassment, or even regret, just to see if you're finally planning to stop whatever escapades that lie before your heart.
"I'm not interested, brat." He spat, venom laced in his voice.
"I'll be at your show later to cheer you on!" You showed him your smile that almost made your eyes disappear, completely hearing what he said with one ear and letting it pass to the other.
He chuckled darkly, "I don't need another annoying kid screaming their lungs out for me."
"Hey, I'm not a kid!"
"Yeah? Then you should stop this by now. You fool."
You frowned, staring at his cold gaze that seemed to wrap all over your figure. But you're unfazed, no amount of glares and venomous words would even stop you from liking him.
"Now, that's just bad." You uttered, and then smiled once again. "But I forgive you, Sukuna!"
Sukuna heaved a sigh, grunting as he turned around. "Annoying."
"Hi, Sukuna!"
Sukuna stopped dead on his tracks when he saw you inside the band's music room. Your hair was tied in a bun, and you were wearing reading glasses as you hugged your clipboard on your chest.
"Ah, you finally arrived..." The band professor said. The professor said your name, saying that you'll be their manager from now on since there were a lot of gigs coming up for the band, and in need for someone to help them organize.
Sukuna's face turned sour, seeing how you just happily smiled at everyone in the room as you introduced yourself, shaking their hands and all that. When you turned to Sukuna, you held out your hand as well, waiting for him to accept and shake it.
His brows furrowed, looking at you and down to your waiting hand, but he scoffed. He moved away and found a seat near his bandmate, completely wanting to ignore your existence.
You coughed awkwardly, your hands scratching your neck instead.
"I bought snacks!"
It was another day at practice, everyone in the band was busy preparing for their next stage at the school's fair. You noticed how everyone was working hard enough, and you perfectly had the heart to do something nice so they can take a break for a while. Everyone's head turned to look at you, and their faces lit up at the sight of you holding four bags of snacks with both hands.
Their lead vocalist, Nanami, rushed to help you, taking the bags away and placing them at the table. He ruffled your hair fondly. "Thank you, sweetheart..."
You blushed, smiling at him. "Just doing my duties!"
Sukuna rolled his eyes as he played with the strings of his guitar. He didn't like the fact that he's always stuck with you everywhere he goes, annoyed how he's forced to be here with you even on band practice.
In his eyes, you were such a desperate brat who can't even read between the lines. He never liked girls like you who stick to him like leeches, cooing and batting their eyelashes for his attention.
And that made him hate you with all his guts.
Even worse that you always flash everyone with your happy energy, acting like everything is fine even though they're not. He hates how you ignore his refusals, how you didn't mind his cold shoulders, how he made it obvious that he might just want to strangle your neck when he gets the chance, and you're still going to look at him like he's not the meanest person in the world.
"Sukuna! Aren't you hungry?" You asked, approaching his side but keeping a step distance to maintain your professionalism. After all, you still know your boundaries when it comes to things like this.
"No."
"That's impossible–"
"Will you fucking shut up for once?"
The room fell silent as you bit your lip, trying to find the right words to say. Everyone looked awkwardly at the two of you, their eyes shifting at each other's.
The school band knew you liked Sukuna, and it wasn't really strange for them whenever you tried to call for his attention. They got used to it somehow, saved by your kind nature why they didn't mind your advances. But when it comes to Sukuna being harsh to you, they stand awkwardly, feeling hurt for you even.
"Sukuna, that's not a way to treat a lady." Their drummer, Suguru, came to cut the awkward silence.
Sukuna glared at him, placing his guitar on the wall, before storming off the room with a loud slam of the door.
You heave a sigh, forcing a small smile on your lips. "Well..."
"Don't mind him."
Sukuna never fails to attract women, he always had them lining up for him to take in his bedroom.
Of course, Sukuna also had his fair share of flings too, and some hook ups. Being the bassist of their school band, it's no shock that he was one of the famous members since he's just a sight for sore eyes.
The way his veiny and big hands strum the guitar? His dark eyes that looked intimidating through to the crowd? That smirk on his face whenever he's pleased about playing on the stage?
Oh, the girls love him. Everyone wants Ryomen Sukuna.
So what's so shocking when you stumbled upon an empty classroom, with Sukuna making out with some girl you didn't even know?
Her hair was messy, her shirt was lifted up on her chest, basically exposing her bra. And your eyes darted at her panties hanging on her knees as Sukuna had his hands underneath her skirt.
Your eyes widened, and Sukuna looked at you angrily for interrupting whatever was supposed to happen if you didn't enter the room. Immediately, you stumbled backwards, closing the door behind you as you ran away from the scene.
If his rejections didn't hurt you that much, well, that definitely did.
The whole day, you didn't attend their band practice, saying that you don't feel well and needed time off. It bothered you so much that you were restless, almost out of your mind as you try to finish your homeworks.
Every time you see Sukuna, you'd look away awkwardly. Biting your lip, and staring at your feet for God knows how many minutes.
Sukuna didn't care about what happened earlier though. It was better for it that way, with you witnessing something that may have given you the thought to just give up on him? Sukuna would be so happy that the heavens were finally on his side.
The lewd picture of Sukuna and the random girl runs in your memory like a film. The way his lips pressed on her mouth, his hands lingering on her skin—it was messing up in your head.
Something was tugging in your chest, a feeling that you never felt even before. You felt your face heating up, burning in whatever emotions that were spilling to burst from your tired eyes.
Just let it pass for a while. You'll be fine tomorrow.
Of course, you'd have to face it one way or another. And let it not affect you like you always do.
Sukuna cocked his eyebrow when he saw you the next day at the parking lot, waiting for him once again. You waved at him with a smile, and he just can't help but heave another sigh of frustration.
"What are you doing, brat?" He fumed.
"What do you mean? I was waiting for you!" You sounded so cheery that it made Sukuna have a headache. "I got you cookies! I baked them–"
"Cut it off." He said so coldly that it made you stop, the hands holding the cookies packed in a zip bag stopped midair. "I've fucking had enough of you."
"What do you mean? I just–"
"Aren't you going to stop after yesterday? Fucking take a hint, brat." He glared at you, his eyes turning red in anger. "Do you want me to fuck that girl and make you watch just so you'd leave me alone?"
His words rang in your head, echoing like a demon trying to choke you to death. Sukuna watched as you stared at him with tired eyes, and lips parted a bit. He never thought he'd see your appearance like this, so defenseless for once in his life.
"I like you, Sukuna. I really do." Your voice was barely above a whisper as you turned around to walk away from him, for the first time.
You remember a notebook that you left back in the band's practice room, so you planned to get it. And since the band had a scheduled meeting in just a few minutes, you planned to just stay and wait for them since your classes are done, making you the first person to arrive in the room.
Or so you thought.
You stumbled on your feet when you saw Sukuna after you opened the door. His legs were sprawled apart, the electric guitar in his lap, strumming in a slow rhythm. Your eyes darted at each other, and it took you a moment to snap out of your thoughts.
What are you gonna do? Walked out? Do you say goodbye to him first? Or are you going to say hi and stay? Should you get the notebook you left or not? Maybe just leave him alone? But you really needed that notebook, so what now?
"What are you looking at?"
You can't turn back. No. You'd look dumb. And you're getting tired of looking so helpless in front of him.
You faked a cough, stepping inside the room, "I didn't think you'd be here..."
You stand there for a few minutes, not knowing what to do, despite how you're supposed to be looking for your things now. Sukuna paid no mind about your presence, just scribbling on a piece of paper after playing a different note on his guitar.
It took you long enough to start lifting your feet from the ground, relentlessly moving all over the shelves just to find the notebook that you left. You searched every corner, table tops, cabinets, and even chairs, but to your dismay, there was none.
You looked over at Sukuna who was busy with his guitar, mouth opening to speak, and then closing once again.
You moved a little to your spot, fiddling with your fingers and then spoke, "Hey... have you seen any pink notebook in here?"
You swear you wanted the floor to just eat you whole when he looked at you with those annoyed eyes once again.
"No."
Okay.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
You headed to the table in front of him, full of papers and pens, and one cup of coffee. You read one of the papers and saw it was one of their self-composed pieces that they've been working at for a week now.
You lifted up the pile of papers to look for your missing item, but still nothing. You sighed, bending underneath the table in case it fell down, and lo and behold, your notebook that you've been looking for. You reached for it, stretching your arms out, and when you finally got a hold of it, you stood up abruptly.
But sometimes, you just happen to mess things up unintentionally...
You gasped loudly when you accidentally lost your balance, hitting the table in the process. Your hands landed on the edge of the table that caused it to shake, spilling the cup of coffee on the pieces of paper.
"Shit!" You exclaimed, pulling the cup of coffee away quickly.
"Fucking hell." Sukuna hissed when he saw what happened. He immediately stood up, taking the papers away so it won't get wet with coffee anymore.
"O-oh my god..." You shake, looking around to look for a tissue or anything to wipe the mess. "I'm sorry! I'll clean them up!" You said frantically as you try to reach for the papers, only making it worse when you suddenly tore them apart at your hold.
"Jesus Christ!" Sukuna cursed, pushing you away as he watched as the paper tore itself now. There's no use saving these papers anymore. But what's worse is that you messed up their musical piece, out of all papers that you could've spilled coffee to.
Your eyes watered, heart beating fast at the chaos that you made.
"You just can't do anything right, don't you?"
You look at Sukuna, eyes pleading for him to understand your situation. To at least be sympathetic.
"I didn't mean it! I'm sorry–"
"Your sorry won't fix anything!" He shouted that made you flinch.
"What's happening here?"
"I'm so sorry, I really am..." You sobbed in front of the whole band as you sat at the chair in the corner. Your hands were covering your face as you tried so hard not to cry too much, but you're wailing like a baby already.
Nanami kneeled in front of you, placing a hand on your knees and gently rubbing circles on it. "Don't cry, we'll figure it out."
Sukuna crossed his arms as he watched you getting comforted by Nanami. "It's clearly her fault–"
"Sukuna." Choso cut him off, his eyes telling him to shut up as he shakes his head in disapproval.
Sukuna only scoffed as he watched your figure become so small as you cried your heart out in front of everyone, muttering your apologies again and again.
He might've felt something in the pit of his stomach.
"At least say sorry to her, would you?" Yuji said as he and his brother played video games in their living room.
"Why should I?" Sukuna's eyes furrowed as his fingers focused on tapping the joystick, making loud noises that everyone can hear through the living room.
"It was kind of harsh, you know? She was already feeling sorry, yet you still had to slap it in her face. Plus, you literally shouted at her. You don't shout at a lady, man..."
Sukuna frowned.
He knew all too well that he didn't do anything wrong, he was just making you realize your mistakes. Yet why was he painted as the bad guy here now?
He groaned as they lost another game, throwing the joystick away in frustration. "Fine."
"She didn't come again?" Nanami asked as he entered the room.
"No, she said she's not feeling too good." Choso answered.
For some reason, Sukuna felt like everyone had their eyes on him. Either burning a hole in it, or asking if he knew where she went, or if he had seen her at all.
"Maybe you should say sorry to our manager."
Another nagging.
Sukuna's about to be sick of it. He didn't get how he's the one who would be sorry when it should've been you in the first place. You didn't just mess it up for him, you messed up the whole band for your clumsiness. Those papers were important after all, since it's going to be the music they're supposed to play for the school fest. So why was he at fault?
Why did he feel like he really had to make it up to you?
Why did he feel like cupping your cheeks to wipe your damn tears away when he saw you crying?
come back for part 2 ☹️

Tumblr media
The crowd is deafening, fit for a wedding of royal proportions, but they cannot know the turmoil that lies beneath the surface. Your face betrays nothing, you pretend to be in love for as long as you must, his hands guide you strongly towards the open carriage. There is nothing on your mind but questions, left unanswered in the face of the people. You itch to blurt every thought that crosses your mind but it is as if your tongue has forgotten how to speak.
The door shuts, your fate appears to be sealed, but you’ve saved Ryomen from… something. The dress was beautiful before, but now it feels too restrictive, you feel like a rabbit with its foot caught in a trap. Not to mention you’re almost suffocating under the weight of his cursed energy which is much more potent now that the pair of you are out of the castle. He hasn’t let his guard drop even now that the pair of you are finally alone on the open road, your parents in a carriage further ahead and Gojo sharing with the maids who came with you to allow you time with your new husband.
It feels strange to call him that when all you really know about him is his name, but you find yourself once again studying his face nervously, looking for anything to say. He looks up, his arms folded and his body slightly slouched against the red cushions, “What? Do I have something on my face?” He snaps. You shrink back slightly, shaking your head, “No… I just….” He huffs, averting his gaze out the window, “Spit it out,”
“What happened? Why are you so desperate to get out? Weren’t you second in line to the throne?” His eyes tell you that your question was both expected and unexpected and you mentally prepare to take it back, but he sighs, letting his hands drop to his knees. “Kaori Itadori is not my mother,” He murmurs, “But Jin Itadori is my father,” It takes you a few seconds to connect the dots and you launch to your feet with the revelation, catching yourself on the roof of the carriage.
“But… wouldn’t that also make Yuji…?” He shakes his head, “We’re not twins, I’m older by a few weeks, it’s a miracle we look so alike,” He growls, “Jin Itadori is one lucky bastard,” The carriage goes over an unforgiving bump and his hands dart to grab your waist and steady you, fingers buried in the swathes of white fabric, your chest heavy with the weight of the dress and his energy combined, “Careful there princess,” He murmurs, “Wouldn’t want you getting bruised on our wedding night,”
He’s so gentle with you as he places you on the seat beside him that you feel cruel when the next question spills from your lips, “Your cursed energy, is the king… afraid of it?” He pulls his hands away, leaning his elbows on his knees and messing with his hair. After a few moments of silence he shakes his head, “I have no idea,” He murmurs, “Probably, if even you think it would be enough of a threat,” You look away, thinking for a moment, “The castle has some sort of suppression technique cast over it, I could barely sense my personal guard even when he was standing right behind me,”
“You think he did it just to suppress me?” He scoffs, “He doesn’t care about me, or what happens to me,” “But he cares about his image,” You correct him, “Even with the suppression your energy was overflowing last night at the ball, all that negative energy would almost certainly reflect badly on him considering the fact you’ve spent almost your whole life in the castle,” He looks back to you, “Are you afraid of me?” You’re shocked that he would ask that, but then settle slightly as you realise that his question makes sense. You just asked him if an incredibly powerful man, a King, was afraid of his energy, and yet you yourself are seated next to him with a ring on your finger that binds you to him. “Should I be? You haven’t hurt me yet,” You let your head fall back against the plush wall behind you, tilting until you can look into his brown eyes.
“Is your name Jin Itadori?” He grins wolfishly, finally shrugging the heavy formal tunic off his shoulders, letting it fall carelessly to the floor. The white dress shirt left on his body makes him look younger, and you notice as he rolls his sleeves up that he doesn’t share any of the arm tattoos his half-brothers have and proudly show off. You touch your wrist for a moment as you take in his image, before he waves a hand in front of your face, “Any chance you’ve got some clothes stashed in here? As wonderful as you look in that dress I’d quite like you to be comfortable, I can hear you struggling to breathe,”
You blink, not expecting his sudden change in demeanour as he begins to relax, “I… hang on, I might,” You murmur, “Knowing Geto I’m sure he had something arranged…” You shift until you’re seated on the floor on your knees, lifting the seat you were sitting on before to reveal a compartment underneath. His arm comes up over you to hold it open and you smile gratefully as you dig through the clothing, finding a simple f/c gown that lacks a corset, perfect for long distance travel. You pull it out with a triumphant smile and he seems smug, “Need help getting undressed princess?” He teases.
Oh. Right. Stuck in a carriage, alone with your new husband. Your face flushes with embarrassment, it took four maids to get you into the dress, you know you’ll be forced to ask him to help you lest you make a fool of yourself or accidentally tear the dress. “Come on, don’t be shy now, I don’t bite,” He chuckles, putting his hands up in mock surrender. “It’s not me that I’m worried about,” You roll your eyes, shutting the compartment and lifting yourself until you’re seated across from him again, “Geto is protective, and will not hesitate to defend me if something happens to me,”
“You think he could go up against me?” He smirks, folding his arms, “Please, nothing is going to happen,” “So prove it, you’re my husband now whether you like it or not, so be my husband,” You say firmly, trying to gain some ground on him, “We may see one another without clothes in the future, so why not start now?” He laughs, you don’t think you’ve heard him laugh before, and you find you want him to do it again. “You’re feisty, I like it,” He says, relaxing again and spreading his legs slightly and beckoning you, “Come here, I’ll see what I can do about everything down to that corset I know you’re wearing,”
You take his outstretched hands and stand between his legs, his hands then tracing over your hips as he turns you so you’re facing away, reaching for the line of clasps that lead from the top of the dress to your hips. You feel the pressure in your chest lessen as the dress comes loose, pooling at your feet, and then his hands trace up the boning of the corset that hugs your abdomen, gently untying the lace ribbons that hold it together. “You know, for a man known for his strength, you have the gentle touch of a musician,” You comment, angling your head to look back and down at him.
He looks up as the corset falls slightly to rest at your hips, “Well Princess, as I said before, we don’t want to bruise you on our wedding night, unless you’re begging for it,” He smirks again, pressing a kiss out of your line of sight to the small of your back between the loose edges of the corset. You resist the urge to shiver, his hands on your hips as he helps you step out of the dress, “That thing is going to piss me off if it can’t fit where the other dress came from,” He growls, pushing it with his foot before you can protest, “Where is this other dress?”
You quickly shimmy out of the corset, left in a loose white undershirt and petticoat, and pick up the new dress, stepping into it and pulling it up over your underwear. “I can always ask the maids to take it,” You say as his hands return to your back, delicately clasping up the back of the new dress, “Just don’t kick it around, I don’t want to damage it,”
“No need to be so precious, I didn’t realise you felt that strongly about it,” He mutters, “Now c’mon, tell me about my new home,” He spins you around before you can react, pulling you down so you’re sitting sideways in his lap, your arms shooting up around his neck. As you sit there too shocked to reply, he laughs and lets his hands rest on your hip, wrapped around your middle, “You’re so easy to fluster, have I caught your heart in my grasp already?”
“How are you so carefree right now?” You murmur, “Your whole life… and I’m the only person outside your brothers and parents who knows,” His face falls back to neutral and you can tell he’s angry, you know you’re a fool for poking, especially after the pleasant exchange you just shared, but you have to know, “Did you ever fight back?” He falls still, your fear is amplified by his lack of any kind of signal or cue.
He pushes you off him, “I couldn’t, what don’t you understand about that?” He growls as you catch yourself on the other seat, your hip sparking with pain as it catches the edge, “Jin Itadori is the King of one of the largest nations on the fucking continent, you don’t think I wanted to be free of him?! I rebelled my entire life against royal duties and parties and fucking teachers who thought they knew better than me,” His eyes are dark and his energy has returned full force, amplified by his rage, “Some of the best sorcerers on the continent told my father I was a lost cause and that he needed to kill me before I grew too strong, they thought I couldn’t hear them but I could hear everything,”
You dig your fingers into the cushions beneath you as he shouts, “Jin Itadori thought I was a worthless piece of shit shoved onto him by a woman he never even loved, and frankly I’m lucky he didn’t manage to kill me before I learned to defend myself because he sure fucking tried!” You don’t even realise the carriage has come to a halt until the door swings open and you’re wrenched out by a strong hand. You bury your face against the navy blue cloak you find yourself hidden behind. It’s Geto, clearly having sensed something was wrong, with a pair of four legged vaguely big-cat shaped curses flanking him as he puts himself between you and your volatile husband.
“Are you alright my lady?” He asks over his shoulder, not taking his eyes off the carriage. You nod quietly, peering around him to see Ryomen who has his head in his hands, gripping his hair tightly. “Sir, Prince Ryomen,” Geto says quietly, “I need you to calm down, or I will have to put Princess Y/n in the carriage behind,” The man looks almost frantic when he looks up again, a thousand words trapped behind his eyes as he reaches a hand out only to realise Geto is between the two of you. He gets to his feet, his energy washing over the pair of you but not able to penetrate through Geto’s concentrated bubble of energy, “Give her to me,” He whispers.
Geto’s hand on your wrist tightens but you shift around him, “My lady, he is unstable-“ You look up at him, cutting off his words with just a look, “Thank you Geto, but I can handle it from here,” You say simply. “Of course your highness,” He murmurs, bowing his head slightly as you step back up into the carriage. Ryomen’s hands are on you within an instant, pulling you to him as he whispers a thousand apologies against your hair. You hear the door to the carriage shut and the call as Geto instructs the group to continue onwards, bringing your hands up to his hair and gently combing your fingers through the pink strands.
“I should not have pushed you, you have my sincerest apologies Ryomen,” You murmur, “I will not ask of your father’s mistreatment again,” You feel him shaking his head, his arms pulling you down until you’re once again seated beside one another as he reaches up to cup your cheeks. “My lady,” He murmurs, “It is not you who should apologise, your guard is right, I am an unstable man at best and a risk to your safety,” He opens his eyes, you spot a tint of red leeching inwards at the edges of his irises, “Is it selfish that I do not wish to be parted, despite the fact I may hurt you someday?”
“If anyone is selfish here it is me, you’re a risk I’m willing to take for the sake of my kingdom, you’re a strong man and I believe the good in you will outweigh your suffering,” You clutch his wrists, “Ryomen L/n, you have taken my last name, you are my family now,” You whisper, meeting his intense gaze, “You are free,” “You still fear me,” He murmurs, his gaze switching between your eyes, “How could you not?” “Prove me wrong then,” You shift your hands down his arms slightly, “Prove to me you will not hurt me, it doesn’t have to be right this second, but I have the utmost confidence in your integrity and your resilience,”
You feel his hands warm with cursed energy, the soreness in your hip where you collided with the seat dissipates almost immediately, a warm feeling flowing through you instead. “Where’d you learn to do that?” You ask, “That’s reverse cursed energy, isn’t it?” He nods, leaning into your space until his forehead is against yours, “One of the captains taught me how to use my energy,” He murmurs, “He didn’t teach me to directly reverse it though, his theory was that it would be the easiest way to dispel great quantities of it all at once. I used to use it to soothe my younger brothers when they were in pain,”
You sigh softly, shifting up on the bench until you can cradle his head to your chest, “I’m learning so much about you in such a small amount of time,” You murmur, brushing his hair back, “Are you okay?” He nestles further against you, “With you as an ally, I think I might be,” His voice is soft and vulnerable, you can only assume he hasn’t spoken this freely in years, if ever. The two of you remain in soft silence for the remainder of the trip. Too wired on the information you’ve taken in you find you cannot sleep where usually the soft lull of the carriage would put you to sleep like a baby.
You spend your time combing your fingers through his hair as he leans heavily against you, crowding you up against the side of the carriage but not uncomfortably. You let him lay practically on top of you, sleeping peacefully as your thoughts roam and your eyes watch the stars through the window. By the time the sun begins to rise again you can see the familiar stone walls of the Iqorian capital, Adenfast, the castle in the centre dominating the skyline but not overshadowing the city. A shadow passes over the window before you and Geto’s face comes into view, his hair and cloak hanging down as he looks into the carriage upside down.
You giggle softly as he tilts his head, squinting for a moment before nodding, “We’re almost there!” He says, his voice muffled through the glass. You nod in reply, Ryomen’s body shifting until he can hide from the strengthening light. You cast your gaze down to his pastel pink hair, tracing your fingers through the dark undercut as his breathing steadily grows. “Get off me brat,” He mutters, batting at your hands. You’re shocked, hands up slightly, but his mind seems to catch up a moment later as he opens his eyes and grabs your hands, “Wait, sorry, I thought you were Yuji for a second,”
He guides your hands back to his hair and relaxes again, “We’re almost in Adenfast, would you like to see?” He pushes himself up with his hands on either side of your thighs, leaning over you to look out the carriage window. “It’s brighter than Khoccadia,” He murmurs and you notice his eyes have returned to normal after his outburst the night before, “This… this feels like a home,” You’re eager to see him thrive, but you can also feel the fear still lingering from his father’s influence.
You know it will take time for him to adjust, and you know things will be rocky to start off with considering the circumstances of your marriage, “I hope it can be your home as much as it is mine,” You murmur, tracing your fingers down the side of his face closest to you. He grins, taking your chin between his thumb and forefinger, “If I got to have things my way, my father would regret everything, and you could be by my side the entire time,” You smile softly, “Until such time, enjoy your freedom, you deserve it,”
His gaze traces down until it lands on your wrists, “Ah, when do we get the tattoos done?” He asks, cocking an eyebrow. “Ideally as soon as possible, before you officially appear to the public,” Geto says as he opens the carriage door and steps in. “Geto! Moving carriage? Have some sense of self-preservation!” You scold him as he sits across from the pair of you, the primary veil lowered around the city of Adenfast washing over you like the feeling of water.
“Just wanted to check on my lady,” He puts his hands up in surrender, “We’re approaching the castle grounds, they’ve been closed off for the time being until we get you two into the privacy of the castle itself,” You nod, “Thank you,” “Gojo wants to talk to you about your energy, Sir,” Geto nods to Ryomen, “Something about training you,” “I look forward to it, I have heard much about the Gojo clan’s runaway prodigy, I have a feeling he and I will get along nicely,”
The air is warm and the cheers of the people fill the air as the carriages ride through the streets. Knights on horseback block the windows from the public eye and Geto exits the carriage, returning to his place atop as you cross through the secondary veil, completely transparent aside from a few visible sparkles hanging in the air. “Home sweet home,” You whisper, your mind in blissful ignorance. As uncertain as your future may be, you know you will spend it by his side nurturing the part of him that lives for the joy of living, lives for his brothers, and maybe one day will live for you.

A Second Chance, A Father's Curse - Part 1 (Ryomen Sukuna X Reader)
Tumblr media
This is part of my Royal AU, the first I'm writing for it, there may be inconsistensies between each different fic set within the universe including but not limited to which damn clan does Sukuna belong to, but I'm sure it'll be fine :))
also i hope the family tree kinda makes sense, i can make a separate post showing the different clans and their family trees if needed
Warnings: mentions of an affair, brief mentions of abuse but nothing explicit
Word count: 3.1k

When the boy first showed up everything had been good, a new son had been born into the Itadori clan, the royal family was stronger than ever. This boy threatened to bring all of that down simply by existing. Jin Itadori was not known for his mercy, often ruthlessly leading swathes of knights into battles and leaving none alive, but this boy was no ordinary enemy. His own son, illegitimate, but still his flesh and blood. His wife said nothing when he brought the screaming baby into the nursery that was only meant for one, placing him beside Yuji in his large crib.
Kaori Itadori simply accepted what had been given to her and raised the boy as her own, despite the neglect and clear favoritism shown from Jin to his alleged twin sons. The two were almost identical despite the fact they had different mothers, which was how the lie was able to be carried so easily through their lives. Ryomen knew, he had always known, and he’d hated almost everyone for it. The only people he couldn’t truly even pretend to hate were his adopted brothers, and he let everyone know this vehemently, shirking his duties and often hiding away from elaborate dinner parties or balls he did not want to attend.
Yuji’s heart broke for his brother, and of the five Itadori boys, only the eldest Choso knew of the predicament underlying the twins. The youngest, Eso and Kechizu, were born one after the other, three years apart, with significant health complications and therefore rarely appeared in public. The elder three were fiercely protective, especially Ryomen who’d had a taste of his father’s neglect and despised that Jin had turned it on his youngest sons. None of the three wanted to burden their younger brothers, they’d been told that the pair might not live to become adults, so they had always made sure the boys were well fed and happy.
Ryomen suffered in silence. His teachers could not quell his anger, the best sorcerers warned of his growing cursed energy levels, but nothing was ever done. Nothing really could be done. By the time he turned nineteen he was undoubtedly the strongest of the Itadori boys, and his father was adamantly trying to wed him off to a different kingdom. Ryomen didn’t care, the faster he got out of Khoccadia the better in his opinion. He spent his days training in combat with the knights, including the captains of both the Shadow and Blood units, Megumi Fushiguro, and Takuma Ino.
Megumi Fushiguro interested him, the man was his age, his twin brother’s personal bodyguard, and he had the inherited cursed technique of the Zenin clan, the royal family of a neighbouring kingdom. His unit, aptly named the Shadows, were a small close knit group of Shikigami summoners, led by a wielder of the undisputed king of Shikigami techniques. This made him both an outsider and a refugee, having been forced to prove his loyalty a thousand times over, including regaining the trust of the royal family after his technique was revealed during an attack on the kingdom where he had to unleash his power to protect Yuji.
The other captain, Takuma Ino, wasn’t as interesting or close to him, but still a formidable ally and opponent, having first trained under the royal sorcerer Kento Nanami, before his technique proved to be more useful on a battlefield than overseeing curses. Ryomen often found himself sitting with the pair post-sparring, looking out over the training grounds within the castle walls, and asking himself where he would go if he decided to run. He knew he wouldn’t get far, his cursed energy was much too unique, Nanami would be able to find him with no trouble. His only way out would be this arranged marriage, and he had to be sure it was far far away from here.
This is what eventually lead to Jin Itadori hosting a ball and inviting many of the leaders of nearby nations to attend with their daughters, royal, political, and otherwise. Few invites were sent out past the neighbouring nations, but Ryomen had to be sure, so he had insisted under the cover of lies that his father’s orders had the invitations sent further. When the day of the ball arrived, Ryomen was reluctantly dolled up in a luxurious maroon suit, his hair styled with earrings and cufflinks to match. When he met up with Choso and Yuji, he saw they were dressed similarly to him, but Yuji’s suit is a deep pink and Choso’s a dark purple.
“Don’t we just look a treat,” Ryomen huffed, reaching up and adjusting Yuji’s collar slightly. “They were chosen by mother,” Choso looks away and Ryomen finds himself almost apologising. It wasn’t her fault, she was a victim of the system just as he was, but he shakes it off. “You okay?” Yuji mumbles, giving his brother the same outfit once over. The twins had always known what would make each other look the best, Ryomen let him fuss with his hair a little before swatting his hands away. “I don’t think I’ve ever been okay, I can’t wait to get the hell out of here so I never have to see him again,” He growls. Choso checks his watch as they approach the upstairs entry to the ballroom, the laughter and chatter behind it dying down as someone announces their arrival.
“I hope you find someone,” Yuji squeezes his hand for a brief moment before Ryomen can pull away or protest, dropping his hand before the door swings open and the three of them are revealed to the eyes below. Choso in the centre with his brothers flanking, there are smiles of all kinds as they descend the stairs. Some genuine, some scheming, others that don’t quite reach the eyes of their owners.
Ryomen Itadori doesn’t get nervous, but in this moment he finds his eyes searching for Kaori Itadori. She returns his gaze from her place on the ballroom throne and nods once. This party is for him, it’s his ticket out of here, and it almost feels to him like she’s lending him her strength. The strength to do what she never could. When the three of them reach the bottom of the stairs, his brothers disperse into the crowd to find dance partners, and Ryomen finds himself alone surveying what he can see. The only clan tattoos he recognises around the edges are those belonging to the Zenin clan, the Gojo clan, the Kamo clan and that of the Creyarean district, which is a political power and not run by a royal or empirical clan.
There are a few tattoos he does not recognise, he assumes from further out on the continent, and one in particular draws his gaze. A kindly looking couple, king and queen, with matching filagree tattoos over their facial features, most prominent on their jawline, cheeks, across the nose and in the centre of their foreheads. No other family has tattoos that bold, the closest in comparison is the Kamo clan with a jagged X over the right eye, and he finds himself curious as to their origins. “Brother! I’d like you to meet someone,” Yuji’s voice suddenly cuts into his wandering thoughts and he scoffs, “Leave me alone Yuji,” He grunts, but his brother barges into his space, his mouth right next to his ear as he utters the words that could be Ryomen’s salvation.
“Her family comes from miles away, three kingdoms over!” Yuji hisses. His gaze flits to the girl who stands holding Yuji’s hand, looking like she’s just been dragged at a brisk Itadori walk across half the ballroom (Which she had been). His brother drops her hand as he steps back and presents her, “Allow me to introduce Y/n L/n, of the Iqorian Empire,” Unmarried, she does not bear her parents tattoos, but there are two thick black bands around both her wrists which could be a hint at early clan tattoos that don’t decorate the face.
She curtseys and he feels his demeanour soften slightly, taking her hand which still hovers unsure before her to press a light kiss to the back of it. He keeps his face painfully neutral as he studies her features, her e/c eyes traveling back up to meet his. “Lovely to meet you, Miss L/n, Ryomen Itadori,” He introduces himself politely, though he knows that she must already know who he is, given his brother has a tendency to babble. She uses her free hand to fix her h/c hair before giving him a polite smile, “Some party your parents cooked up, is the potential marriage for diplomatic purposes?” She asks. He clenches his jaw slightly, his gaze scanning the crowd as he instinctively pulls her slightly closer.
His father’s face is dark and sinister, his eyes locked on Ryomen but his mind elsewhere, “You could say that,” He replies, “But I would say it’s freedom,” Her eyes widen and he steels himself, she must be able to sense the years of neglect and abuse on him, he knows he reeks of it, but if she does she doesn’t mention it, “I see,” She murmurs, “Well, would you like to dance?” He looks at her like she’s grown an extra head for a moment, but Yuji punches his side and he blinks, “Yes yes, of course, that would be nice,” His words drift away and he becomes eternally grateful for the dancing lessons Kaori forced him to endure as he leads the girl out into the centre of the dance floor.
The night passes by quicker than he would have liked it to, despite stepping into the ballroom like a caged wolf with the taste of freedom on his tongue. He comes to learn from the girl his brother introduced to him that the royal couple he didn’t recognise, with the outlandish filagree tattoos, are her parents, and he is hooked from that moment on. You of course know there is something he is hiding, but his sudden interest in your clan tattoos brings a soft smile to your face as you look over to your parents. They seem to be overjoyed that you’ve caught the attention of the Itadori son up for grabs, but you know there’s more to it considering the fact that he should be the second in line, and yet is being married out of his family into another.
“I am certain we will be seeing one another again, Miss Y/n,” He murmurs as he presses one last kiss to the back of your hand, his fingers tracing one of the black lines on your wrist. You grab his arm before he can turn away, “Ryomen,” You murmur in response, “Sir, are you in trouble here?” He does not reply, his gaze is hard, but you feel a lack of response is enough for you to fill in the gaps.
He’s not welcome in his family, and you’re determined to get him out and then find out why, even if it means ruining any diplomatic relationship Iqoria could have with Khoccadia. You omit the fears you hold close to your chest when your parents demand to know how your night went, they were watching and already knew you were the only one Romen Itadori spent his night with. This is a golden opportunity, he is already well known throughout the continent as the strongest Itadori son, he would be a priceless addition to any family, and nobody else seems to be questioning the fact his father doesn’t seem to want him to stay.
A foolish decision, considering the fact his cursed energy swamped the entire ball from the moment he entered the room, just barely discernible from that of your parent’s royal sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, who came to meet with other royal sorcerers in attendance. You are reunited with Suguru Geto, your personal guard and the Captain of the Iqorian Guards, after conversing with your parents. He escorts you back to the room provided to you within the Itadori’s castle for the night, “I take it the night went well, your highness?” He asks as he follows you in.
You find yourself unable to respond, chewing on your thumbnail as you sit at the dresser, leaning your head on your free hand. Lost in thought you don’t hear him approach until his hand is on your shoulder, “What ails you my lady?” “He’s tormented,” You murmur, “Prince Ryomen, he’s trapped, and something is very wrong with this family,” His face reflected in the mirror is one of soft confusion, and you find you can’t hide anything from him. He’s trained you your whole life, and you trust him sometimes more than you trust your parents, he’s like a second brother to you, “I asked if he was in trouble, and I fear a lack of response or denial is enough to ascertain the danger, I must marry him if he is to survive with his humanity intact,”
Geto frowns and grips your shoulder slightly, “I will call for your maids, this stays between us,” He announces, “Sleep well your highness,” “Where are you going?” “To let your parents know I am in full support of this marriage, he’s incredibly strong after all,” His face is sly as a fox and you find yourself speechless, “He’ll be a great asset if we give him the chance,” Once he is gone you find comfort in the knowledge of his support, thus allowing you to slumber in peace.
When the morning arrives, you find yourself swept up in preparations for the wedding, which you find after questioning the closest maid is to be held that very day. His father must be desperate to get rid of him before he becomes a problem, and you’re more than willing to let Kaori Itadori and her maids along with yours fawn over you and dress you in the finest white dress you’ve ever seen. You’re understandably nervous, your parents dropped by only once that morning to tell you what you already knew about the conversation they shared with Ryomen’s parents, but they also said once the wedding was over you’d be leaving for home almost immediately.
This was, surprisingly, not the most shocking thing you’d heard all morning. It fell just behind the fact that it would be Geto and not your father who would be walking you down the aisle, a few of your closest maids acting as bridesmaids. This is to go along with a Khoccadian custom involving the parents of both spouses, while also incorporating the ‘giving away’ portion from Iqorian marriages. Ryomen’s mother wraps her arms around you quickly outside the throne room before she pushes a bouquet of red roses into your hands, tears in her eyes, “Take care of him,” She whispers, her eyes intense and so full of sadness you think you may cry too. You nod, words escaping you as you turn to the throne room, the music floating out at you different to the wedding music back home.
It dawns on you as the doors open to reveal you to the crowd that you don’t know Ryomen Itadori. You don’t know his favourite food, you don’t know his favourite hobbies, you don’t know what he likes in a partner, you don’t even know what his relationship with his brothers is like. It’s too late to wonder, as you clutch the bouquet in your hand and link your other arm with Geto who has just appeared at your side. His presence helps to calm your nerves, but you’re still antsy as you approach the front of the room where Ryomen waits for you, looking equally antsy but for a different reason.
You know he wants out, and you’re his ticket, you just have to get through the next hour of formalities. The crowd is never truly silent during your ceremony, there’s always a low hum of chatter, but it doesn’t disturb or deter the continuance of the ceremony. You can feel Jin Itadori’s eyes on you almost the entire time and you endeavour to ignore him as best you can, focusing on the feeling of Ryomen’s hands in yours. You take the time before and during vows to study his face, the way he scrunches his nose sometimes or crosses his eyes to make you smile. It works, and he squeezes your hands to add reassurance to the moment, until finally you’re pronounced as husband and wife, and without even a second thought or hesitation he pulls you into him, pressing his lips to yours.
You’re breathless, your hands clutching his biceps, barely hanging onto the bouquet before he pulls you into him for a hug, “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” He mutters against your ear, kissing the side of your head as the crowd cheers and his words are lost in the cacophony of sounds. You let your eyes speak a thousand words as you meet his gaze, smiling softly before finally speaking, “You’re safe now,” His shoulders relax as the two of you turn to walk back down the aisle. Once out of the throne room, his brothers are there to greet him, and Yuji hugs him tightly, “Brother…” He murmurs, “Don’t forget us, you understand?” He grips the back of Ryomen’s head and presses his forehead to his twins, “Promise me?”
Ryomen blinks sadly, “I’ll come back for you,” He whispers. The two younger boys crowd between the twins and Ryomen holds them, the taller one seems quite physically weak, and the shorter one has not opened his eyes, but he holds them close. “How does Ryomen L/n sound?” He asks softly, “Fitting?” Yuji smiles, “For you? It’s perfect,” Just before the two of you can be whisked away by your maids, he grabs his elder brother’s hand, “Choso,” He forces the man to look him in the eyes, “Look after them, don’t let them end up like me,” He growls, “Swear on your life,”
Choso nods, “I swear on my life,” Ryomen nods one final time, “I hope we’re all better people when we see each other again,” He says, words meant only for his brothers that you catch while ushering your maids away from the moment. His hand on your back is the only warning you get before he’s nudging you along the tidal wave of people who head to the main entrance.
A grand exit, the staircase long, carriages await at the bottom, and Ryomen’s freedom. A price paid a thousand times over, a dream finally allowed to come true, and a man desperately clinging to the bare threads of his humanity. The world gives him a lifeline in the form of a girl second in line to her kingdom’s throne, and he finds he remembers why he endured staying alive all those years. His real family, his only family, his brothers - and maybe even revenge.
