Nothing gives the same kind of random ego boost like managing to finally clean up your home and making it nice. Like ooh look at me, I'm living like people do, I made myself iced tea and I am eating my snack from a real plate. I got floors and shit.

fandom tumblr was another casualty of streaming services. we used to be on here posting about the episodes that were coming out weekly and posting gifs and writing insane shit about the tv shows we liked. now a new season of a show will drop and we’ll talk about it for a week. two weeks tops. and then that show will leave collectively conscious for 1+ year till the next season drops. there’s a reason succession sundays was a blast on here
we used to have real television

absolutely FERAL at one of Gale's new kiss animations in Patch 6. He tries to give you a chase little peck on the cheek only for Tav to go "OH NO YOU DON'T" and pull that in for 10 seconds of passionate furious making out.
(also tonally holy hells is it a 1000% story match for a satyr tav druid who got scooped up after years and years of frolicking in the feywild and a brief trip to the material plane paired up with a reclusive wizard that's spent years in a tower largely cut off from contact with anyone else and thus kinda awkward) (I think she's eventually going to wind up with Halsin unsurprisingly, after having already told Astarion he needs a friend more than he needs an object of love who may or may not be gone when this is over, but not yet)

if you rescue the prisoners from Moonrise, after you go to Last Light Inn the boat you escape from...winds up on the roof!!
I choose to believe it's somehow Wulbren Bongle's fault. Don't drink and drive kids!

Do centaurs (especially the Runners) wear horseshoes or do they have a different way of protecting their hooves?
Anon: I’m not sure if you’ve touched on this before, but what are your thoughts on shoes for centaurs? Would they have classic horseshoes or would they wear booties that they can put on as needed? I adore all your posts, they give me so much inspiration!!
Ok I definitely have a few thoughts about shoeing centaurs!
Tumblr media
In general I think centaurs definitely use horseshoes as we know them, but it's not nearly as common as how we shoe our own horses. Nailed on metal shoes are a pretty long term solution that require specialized maintenance, but they can't really be beat for protection and durability. So they're kinda like steel toed boots, mostly used by those with physically demanding jobs in rough terrain and punks. For shoe-inclined cultures like the merchants, sandals with hardened leather or wooden full foot soles are the preferred hoof-gear for the average taur as they can be easily customized and used to protect tender frogs or support healing cracks with medical shoes available to correct issues in addition to just looking so fashionable and most importantly- relatively easy to take off at the end of the day. Slippers are comfortable lightwear, leather sleeves that are maybe hardened on the bottom but only really good for tooling around town on cobbled streets, soft earth, or in a house or business. Mule shoes are called so because they make the hoof tall and narrow like a donkey's hoof and are pure fashion. Basically centaur clog heels, they require a precise custom fit to wear properly and usually greatly restrict mobility and so are a mark of high-society. Though the most extreme versions are worn at festivals by specially trained dancers, sometimes with sparking metal embedded in the bottom for extra flash. These are usually attached to nails in the hoof like metal shoes to try and keep broken legs to a minimum.
Tumblr media
Riders in particular don't tend to wear any shoes at all, preferring to go barefoot to avoid the fuss and maintenance of any sort of footgear with their active lifestyles. Their culture in particular does not have much in the way of metallurgy and certainly not anything in the realm of infrastructure necessary to maintain regular shoeing. Pretty much the only shoes they wear are war shoes, with spikes on the bottom to really make infantry rethink getting close on the battlefield. But those are pretty rare, it's just not worth the expense and difficulty of ensuring you have a well-trained farrier on top of expensive iron in their culture. But of course there's always a few bigwigs willing to take the expense, particularly in the bigger herd-families who range further south near the Merchant city-states and have a passionate scion who can be encouraged to learn the practice and supported in their work!
The merchant culture on the other hand has the built in metal-heavy culture and infrastructure built in given their close relationship with dwarves so shoeing is a pretty common and easy practice.
Tumblr media
For the most part though I think most centaurs would just maintain their own feet as part of regular grooming and walk barefoot on toughened feet. It's just easier when you've got 4 feet and losing a single shoe can easily cause pretty significant strain or injury depending on the circumstances!

i am so continually fascinated by this satyr mod for bg3. just, like, the physics of trying to climb/descend ladders with the goat-like legs and the way it necessarily alters the geometry of movement itself.
and the mod author did such a great work here that at some point it's almost become more interesting to watch how a reality-adjacent physics system truly works up against the mythological and metahuman etc.
also, like, would centaurs or minotaurs or satyrs (or fauns) or any similar hooved semi-human wear horseshoes? How does THAT work.
