You will never know how things work in this world.

And Gilang always suprised how his days always start with something he never expect in life. A very unexpected news coming in such peaceful morning. A text from his higher up asking for the whole MANDALA angets to come to the headquarters real quick. When Gilang know the answer, he waste no time. Someone just died. On top of that, his senior, one who teaches Gilang a lot of things back during his rookie year. Sir Harun Rahardja just found dead this morning at his residence.

When Gilang arrived in the headquarters, some of the MANDALA agents whom he rarely met was there. They look very different but also the same at the same time. No greetings or small talk as the reasons why they're gratered that day is something big enough to deal. Gilang took his usual sest and only in few minutes later the whole members of MANDALA is there.

Gilang is too busy thinking to watch others secretly stealing glances on each other, when he heard the door once again opened, the person who gather them all finally arrived, Teguh Gumilar is there, looking serious and caught everyone focus in no time.

"Greetings everyone. Thank you for gathering here today although some of you are busy with your own ongoing mission." The Head of MANDALA, Teguh Gumilar opening that meeting. All members there answer with a small nods.

The light turn darker in the room as Teguh goes straight to the business.

This is what MANDALA usually like, it's like you put all boring and serious people inside a room. They're all a high trained agent and couldn't really get close because they never really works together and just keep being set to go against each other to see who is the best. Although sometimes they do need to work together, it's never a friendly one.

They're all in good terms but there's always unexplained tension between them. Well, Gilang doesn't really mind as long as they could just work fine.

They're all here for works, not mere a friendly gathering.

"As I already told you in the message this morning. Sir Harun Rahardja found death in his residence this morning. You might be wondering why i gathered all of you here for this, not only we will attend his funeral, i have missions for all of you to do." Teguh told them in serious tone. His gaze moves to everyone and somehow stopping on one of his fellow members, let's just call him RAIN.

"Agent RAIN, could you help me explains what happened here?" Teguh ask the man and RAIN moves from his seat next second.

"This is actually his mission for the past three months, we already try to track down a serial killer, the person seems to targeting people with big names." Teguh gives them more explanation and the slide show just turn into few murder case.

Gilang heard from the news but he didn't really pay attention. He never thought that the killer will attack the Agency. That's a really bold move.

"I checked the murder scene this morning and I found a letter of codes. We didn't know yet what's inside the letter. I might need our best codebreaker." RAIN glance at MANDALA's codebreaker, POLAR. She doesn't seems interested as always but she gave him a little nods.

"Also, because this isn't a mere serial killer case, the higher ups want us to clean this quickly and requesting to have the whole MANDALA for better result." RAIN continues, behind him Teguh nodding his head and change the slideshow again, a mission was set for all of them there. Gilang shifted his gaze to where his name written.

Doing all of this, Gilang never regret any of it.

Working might the only way Gilang could release his stress, even when the stress is the work itself. It’s been years since he start working for the nation. When his family doesn’t support him, he keep going because he think this might be the only way he could living. Between the death and life, at least he have something as a reason behind everything he do.

The first time he hold a gun, he isn’t sure if he can actually using it. He isn’t sure if he can fire it’s trigger and watch it went throught a body. He isn’t sure if he can take life using it without feeling guilty of doing it because it’s his job. Gilang might be worried about all of that stuff but he shall not make such things mess up his job. He have something to do and he should do it well.

The weight of the armfires feels weird in his hand but he need to get used to it as he have to carry it everywhere from now on. He have to learn how to aim and shoot, he have to make sure his target perfectly because a slight mistake only gonna bring problem. Only in few months, Gilang came out as the best shooters in his team.

He feels very proud.

The heat feels really hot lately during the day. He will never get used to how hot Jakarta even after living there for years. It was the first month of him working for the agency. All his days been filled with studying and training. He often wonder if he should just go as a office worker instead of going down to the field because people seems to favor him to be there instead because he seems too nice to be on the field. Of course it was a good chance to stay in office but that’s not what Gilang want. He want to went through the harsh road, having a fun adventure. Protecting his nation.

His very first mission as a field agent was a really fun trill for him that made him feeling hooked to his job. Gilang think that this is the right job for him. Having something rushing inside of him really gave him a lot of power to do things he never thought he could do. He adrenaline inside of him pushing him out of his limit, turning him into a very excellent soldier.

A small mission slowly turn into bigger and dangerous mission. He was trained to get into the specialforce after he passes a lot of test and exam. At first, he didn’t really want to join the special force, he only want to be in a small team, together with his seniors but because of how Gilang grow really fast in only a few months, he was moved to the special force with a recomendation from his superior. Something Gilang couldn’t reject because it’s a call of duty.

What Gilang could do is working harder so he won’t disappoint anyone.

“You will do well right, Gilang?” A light taps on Gilang shoulder feels a heavy burden just dropped on his shoulder. Can Gilang really do well? Gilang isn’t sure about it but everything he start all this time is begin from the uncertain feeling. He only need to do what shall be done. Everything ahead is improvisation.

“I will not disappoint you, sir.” Gilang answered with no trace of worries in his voice. Another taps on his shoulder was given and Gilang can only stay still, eyes straight to the front. He grow up only to do well. There’s nothing he can’t do.

It was another hot day. Gilang hopes his burden will only melt. Along with excitement and anxiety inside of him.

Being in special force means he have to be strong, He couldn’t show any weakness because that’s only gonna put him in danger. Gilang been training so hard so he can be at least on the level decent and worthy enough to be part of the force. The training was really tough that sometimes Gilang think about giving up, but his pride will never let him do that. Sadly, even that time, he didn’t have his family support that he have to just carry everything alone. He have no one to share his burden and he couldn’t say anything about it even when he have to.

Gilang choose to focus on his job instead of stressed about it. In no time, Gilang got a lot of badges for his hardwork.

At first, Gilang think it was better if he focus on shooting because he’s good on it but his mentor told him that he can do more than that and he shall learn move and achieve higher than what he already have. Gilang even got his own private training. Everyone in his job really push him to be better and better again. It was the first time he feel that people really support him.

So, Gilang only push himself more.

It was cold night when Gilang walked into the training room. His trainer already wait for him for another late night training. Gilang have to learn more how to keep his endurance so he get additional training. It’s not really a bad thing but he can’t help himself because the more dangerous mission coming, the more he have to be ready to heavy wounds he had to endure.

How long will he last?

“Good evening, sir.” Gilang moves and bow himself to greet the older guy. He feel his whole body getting nervous. He’s been doing this for months now but this till got him so worked up.

He strip himself and getting ready. He never learn traditional martial arts since he was young but when he get into the agency he have to start learning throwing punches and accepting it. He have to keep himself up even when he got hit no matter what and this have been what he done to improving what he lack. People might think that what he got from this training only got him in bad shape as he have a lot of bruises and scars on his skin. Gilang never took it as a flaw though because of his learning.

He get on his stance. Hands strong infront of him as his trainer also getting ready. Gilang's soft gaze turn into serious one that made him look charming. When the first punches swings, the training start.

Gilang coughed blood out of his mouth. A jab just hit straight to his gut and he feel his whole body numb from it. Things lile this sooner or later will happen, during mission, Gilang will face enemies who are good at fighting and he can't let himself get beaten if he need to face one.

Gilang hand clenched into a fist and a quick and strong blow on his enemy jaw enough to make him losing his balance and teeth. Blood dripping from his mouth and he spit it out. Gilang doesn't miss chance to start moving again, he swings his legs and make a hard kick on the man chest and head, throwing him down to the ground.

"Oh, are you from BIN? Your punches is great enough." He man says, trying to getting up from the ground and drag Gilang down as he start moving again.

"Oh, i must be good enough for you to think that way." Gilang muttered in breathless laugh as he try to land another punches on the men as he fell down on the ground again, a series of jab knock the man breathe away as Gilang made his moves.

"It's useless, you won't get anything from─" Gilang throw another punches to shut him up and he get up as the man pass out. Gilang rolls his eyes, feeling upset that things doesn't go that well in his mission. He drag the pass out man with him.

"Do you guys got anything? I will bring the person i chased to the base." Gilang talk through his earpiece while tied the man and put him on the backseat of his car. He get into the driver seat right after and drive his car away.

"Just return to the base then. We have to talk about our next move." Gilang says before cut the line and focus on driving. There's a lot of thoughts currently running inside his head.

The way to the base seemed smooth. When he arrives, his workers rushing to help him with the guy he just caught. This day gonna be a little longer than the other days. They put the guy on the sitting position and Gilang take a seat infront of him.

He doesn’t really like this activities.

“Wake him up.” Gilang says and his works sprays big amoun of water to wake the guy. It was effective and Gilang let the guy take his time to realize that he got caught. Gilang told his workers to leave the room.

“You sleep well?” Gilang ask him while playing with gun in his hand. The guy start struggling, trying to let go although it’s useless.

“You only gonna get hurt if you try so hard.” Gilang says calmly while put few bullets into his gun and staring at the guy.

“You won’t get anything from me!” The guy screams and Gilang nodded his head.

“I will take it from you though if you didn’t guve it to me.” Gilang answered, reloading his gun and he pull the trigger, the bullet shooting to the ground next to the guy’s feet. A scream escape from the guy.

“I’ll make it easy for you. I just wanna know where is the hideout?” Gilang staring at the guy deeply, he look really serious and there’s no doubt inside his eyes. No answer.

Gilang fire another bullet and it went smoothly into the guy thigh. A loud scream soon coming along with cries. Gilang doesn’t seems moved from the reaction.

“Still not talking?” Gilang ask the guy again but only cries and curses coming as answers.

“I don’t have much time. Let’s do this quickly.” Gilang hums and several shots went through the guy arm and legs. The groans only get louder. Gilang get up from his seat and he slowly walk towards the guy’s back and he aim his gun to his head.

“Where is the Hideout?” Gilang ask him again and this time the guy finally answering his question, telling Gilang where the Hideout is.

“Nah, that’s better right?” Gilang grins and he step back from the guy. Just when the guy thought it was over, a bullet blow his head. Gilang dropped his gun and leave the room, they got no choice, this is part of his job.

A simple reason for him. Do the mission.

𝐎𝐧𝐞.

The wind blows, the sun shines brightly. It's sounds like a really good that for anyone. Not sure for Gilang who is now busy, full focus as him and his team was under an operation. A very secret and important one for Gilang himself because it took months for him to be able in that place.

Gilang and his team finally found a place where a bunch of criminals doing their business. A place deep in small village, he believe that this one is just one from many of it but this could be one step closer to actual biggest crime behind it. Especially when it was believed that there will be an exchanged in that place, a big person probably show up.

It was 11 AM, the sun is hot enough to burn his patience really quick but this is what he should do. Be patient about what moves he should take because each move he do will effect how things will end. He's a very careful person and he doesn't want his plan to be ruined by little impatience.

He had to disguise himself and hide himself as a beggar. Looking dirty and messy under a big loose dirty clothes. His gaze moves carefully and trying to analyze each things around him. He is more than ready to just get into the place and fight them all but it wasn't the plan.

They already verify what the small house was used for. They only need one last step which is caught the bad guys on act. If there's a clear evidence then they could drag them straight to jail which is where those guy belong.

This kind of mission is easy yet hard because once they mess up, everything will turn into dust. But Gilang is confident enough.

Beside, this kind of mission isn't any worse than what he already done this past years. Gilang been working on his field for years and he know exactly what he should do for the mission to be done perfectly. Which is one of it is to be patient.

"Sir, there's few cars coming." A report comes, his gaze moves to where exactly cars come. He take a quick deep breathes before replying.

"Stay focused and be ready." This is where the thrill began.

𝐓𝐰𝐨.

Gilang jobs is simple, well not really. It was very not simple which all of it sometimes giving him a lot of stress. This is a job where he should use all part of his body. He need to think with his brain and he need to fight. If he wasn't good at it, he will be already done a long time ago.

Having this kind of job is a really life changing for him. Gilang himself never regret it, he loves his jobs and will do his best doing it. Beside Gilang is a famous workaholic that will do anything that given to him to it's very best possibilities. His bosses loves him and that's also the reason why he's in his position right now.

Gilang isn't the type who works as he's being told. He have his own way to deal with things although sometimes it put him in danger, things always end up as they should be. That's why the higher up believe in him.

The reason why Gilang choose this job is because he already dream it since he was young. At first it was only because he want to be cool but as he grow up, he understand that he could protect more people by doing this job. He doesn't really want to be a hero he saw back then when he was young anymore but instead, he want to be someone who able to realize what is the true justice.

He learned than this place isn't a clearly white place. There's a lot of shitty side and also how this place could be one of the cruelest place on earth. Everyone main point is to protect the nation and by that means they should be doing anything to achieve that.

Which sometimes Gilang doesn't really favor it.

𝐎𝐧𝐞.

The car is arrived infront of the small house. It was parked and a few people with black suit walk out from the car. The door on the left side opened and someone getting off of the car. Gilang sharp gaze caught the sight of person he have been looking for.

Gotcha.

He send codes for his team to move closer to the place without being noticed. He was glad thar that place is very far from where normal citizen stay. He doesn't really need to care about possible victims of this operation if it went bad. He doesn't have plan to do bad though so he's very careful of what he's doing.

Gilang get up from his place and glance to where his team staying. It's the time. They need to caught them. Gilang walk to the house and acting as if he's a beggar trying to beg for money. Gilang trying to see what happened inside the house from the window there and he could see that there's an exchange there.

A bag full of money and packaging that he believe it was illegal drugs.

Gilang moves his body, tackling the bodyguard outside the house as his team moves to invade the place.

A punch was thrown along with another punches. Gilang doesn't really loves get his hands dirty or putting his strength to beat people up, this is a tough job, but he keep to do it to keep alive. He need to knock those people who is blocking his way. Of course he need to be ready to also receive punches but he is trained enough to keep himself conscious even when he got hit hard on his head.

Gilang get in the house and of course it was a mess the big boss trying to run away.

"Stay still. You are all surrounded."

𝐓𝐰𝐨.

MANDALA. It was where he was signed. MANDALA is a special force full of talented choosen people. At first, Gilang doesn't even believe himself that he was choosen to be one of the MANDALA which that means he will lead his own choosen team to do a really high level mission possible.

He went to a lot of special training which many of that almost take his own life as the pay back. He learn to get used to pain, he learn to not feel anymore. He's growing into someone stronger than what he used to be.

He wasn't really confident at first but then he learn to be better because he want to people also accept that he's a worthy person, he also want his team to be the best and he want to do his job well. He doesn't want to be disappointment to anyone.

Although that's also means he need to let go a few things in his life.

Working in his kind of field means you can't have a normal life. Gilang doesn't really have much time to spends with hid family. There's a lot of reason to that but one of many of that was because that's for their own safety.

He's someone who will be in a lot of danger and Gilang doesn't want his family to be in danger. After all the reason why he's doing the job is also because he want to protect people, on top of it, his own family. He's busy, drowning his jobs and somehow a lot of things in his life is breaking apart.

But he know that he need to keep on going.

All he can do for his family right now is that going home all save and healthy. He doesn't want them to receive news where he can't even go home anymore and where his body couldn't even return to where it belong.

He will stay alive.

𝐎𝐧𝐞.

If caught a bad guys is easy then there wont be any bad guys left in this world. But of course there will be a thing why they're being called bad guys, which one of that is hard to caught. Gilang having a love-hate relationship with this kind of moment. He doesn't like it when he need to pay extra when he work but also this is what's exciting about his job.

He's not sure since when he enjoy it and get used to the sound of firing gun or an endless chasing games.

Gilang run fast trying to follow the movement of dealer who is trying to run away. He can just let go of the guy because his team caught the big boss but then he can't let any chance of the person will do more than what he already done in the future.

Gilang catch him in a small gang. He grab the man's clothes and drag him down but then the guy sway his knives, Gilang trying to get away but he got his arm a small scratch. Gilang yelp but his hand quickly moves to take the knives away and lock down the guy from moving.

"Stop moving. You're under arrest." Gilang says but of course the guy trying to fight him. Gilang grinds his teeth and he quickly knock the guy's head until he stop moving and knocked out.

"There's no way you can run away. Especially from me." Gilang mumbles while staring at the guy on the dirty ground. He quickly make a call from his ear pieces to inform his team that he caught the guy that they need to gather back in the meeting point.

The blood on his arms dripping hard and Gilang start feel pain from it. He get up from his position and carry the guy to where his team is.

There's still a lot of job to do.

One job done, a lot of them will come right after.

I wanted to be free. To be able to let myself to be. But sadly, Nothing could be achieved easily. I keep wandering and also wondering. Until there's nothing left, even my self.

Gilang Bayuaji is a special agent of Indonesia Intelligence and Security Agencies. He's a member of special force MANDALA and leader of his own undercover team called ODYSSEY. He's been working as agent since 2010 and dealing with a lot of type of mission but mostly drug related case.

Appearance.

Gilang is an adult around his early 30 with tall stature and athletic build with mesomorph body type. He has a black short hair, and a bright black eyes. His skin is medium, slightly tanned because of his jobs. He has tin lips with pointed nose. When he smiles, he got irresistible dimple slightly on the left corner under his lips.

During his daily life, he loves to wear comfortable clothes and somehow it makes him looks younger. During work, in the office he wear his uniform and when he went to do his mission, he could turn into a lot of things. He looks good with any kind of clothing.

He is often seen put on friendly vibes with a pretty smile on his lips. His eyes seems to glow and giving an innocent image. When he's serious, he turn to a very different man, his eyes somehow changes. He's really good changing his behaviour and act in any kind of situations. He is a very attractive man with a lot of charms.

Personality.

Gilang a very enthusiastic man. He ooze friendly and positive vibes and greatly loved by people around him due to it. He's also a funny guy with weird jokes, he can fit any kind of conversation and easily get close with people even when he just meet them. He's also really good at acting due to his long time jobs experience which sometimes scare people. But people know that he's very good man with kind heart.

Gilang is very playful. He is also a man with a lot of confidence in him and he could brag nonstop about himself. It might sounds cocky of him but he do it sometimes just for fun because he do think a lot others too. He's not a reckless person instead he's good at reading atmosphere.

He's a free spirited man, he has his own way of thinking which affects the way he works. He sometimes cause problems because of this. But in the other side, Gilang is very strict and discipline when it comes to training and working. He is really care about his team and will always do his best to protect them as much as his job to protect the nation.

Gilang is a very complicated man with messy moral compass. He strongly believe his own judgment when it comes to right or wrong that cause him a lot of problems. Even when he know it, he is a very headheaded person and will do what he think is right even when it end with him being scolded or getting hurt.

Gilang is one of the best in his place. He is a top class negotiatior, soldier and undercover which earned him the nickname the "Triple Threat".

Childhood.

Gilang is the first child and also the first grandson of third three pillar of Rantelangi. No wonder he was loved by his grandparents because during his youth, Gilang spent a lot of time with his grandparents. He also grew up to be a young man who was very gentle and caring but also tough and responsible because of his father's upbringing. Gilang, who often stay with his grandparents because of his patents couldn't take care of him on life heard a lot of stories about war just like his father from his grandfather. This made him like things related to history and action. Since he was young, he has aspired to be someone who can serve the country.

Family.

His parents often have disagreement and fights when Gilang was on his elementary school days, it's made him a very private person when it comes about his family life. He doesn't talk much about family, but it doesn't mean he doesn't care about them because he loves his younger siblings, Gilang thinks that they are all the only thing he has. Gilang also became an older brother who spoiled his younger siblings a lot. Although his parents often fighting, Gilang is quite close to his parents, he doesn't have grudge towards them for not having a happy family. Even after he have to witness his parents about to split. Gilang never let his parents rule his life. Gilang's life is his own and he often clashes with his parents about his choice of work even though they eventually accept Gilang's job.

Marriage.

Gilang married a daughter of his father's friend, it could be said that they were engaged to be together for the good of both family, because Gilang and his wife understood the situation of their family, both accepted the choice. Gilang's married life, however, is quite different because both of them choose to keep their own lives. They focus on their ownself and doesn't really mind what the others do. Gilang never push a childern because his wife isn't ready and they been trying but it doesn't work. They never get children even though five years have passed after their marriage on 2016. Things never really work for them so that both of them are now on the verge of giving up on continuing their family life. Gilang doesn't want to put stress on his wife so he just let his wife to do what she think is great for herself even without them having a child.

Work.

Gilang is a workaholic. He is very clear about what he want to do since he was young and he get right into the job as soon as he is graduated. He get into Sekolah Tinggi Intelijen Negara (STIN) and work for Badan Intelijen Negara (BIN) as a field agent. He keep on growing to be better and after years of working, he is in a good positions. He was part of best agent which is named as MANDALA and he got his own undercover team named ODYSSEY.

During his working experience, he has been doing a lot of good works and achieve a lot of appreciation for his work. He try to do everything perfectly and hardly do any mistake on his record. But because of his character, he often do what he think is right, he is the icon of improvements during mission. This sometimes put him in troubles or even make things better.

He's good at his jobs and he could do a lot of things.

Current.

Currently, Gilang is still busy with his jobs. He got a lot of mission he has to do and some of it is a really big one. He is struggling to try to expose a very gigantic drug rings in Southeast Asia. He have to work with other teams and a lot of people to do it. He really know how this is a very important and dangerous mission.

Gilang still have a long way if he want to caught a big fish.
