I was at a party (hosted and attended by church people {new friends} and one of the attendees said casually, “…like the story of Hosea and the whore.”
Dear reader, I nearly slapped this grey bearded man who was a head taller and obviously went to church to use the word ‘whore’ conversationally and yelled, “HER NAME WAS GOMER!!!”
Instead, I continue to distance myself from them further and further
Idk I think Job's wife really went off when she told him to curse God and die. It's interesting how there's no oxygen for her suffering in the narrative. She lost her children too. She lost her home too. Her health was taken from her too. Everything she had was stripped away by God. And yet there's no compassion for her. Not in the narrative nor in the commentaries or the sermons. She isn't even named.

Honestly, I always assumed that it was because you couldn’t expect a male athlete to not just use brutal violence to make up for their innate lack of athleticism…
crazy that in the 1970s they were like, "fine, women can play sports. but because they're innately less athletic than men, only in a special ghettoized League For The Frail And Delicate where they get paid less 😊". And not only is that still the system in 2023, but viciously lashing out at the smallest challenges to that system gets framed as Feminist Praxis

There was a Krass and Bernie story in CARtoons Magazine where they made a drag racer based on the Testor model and it took flight then secret service arrived…
Revell 1/144 scale F-19
Fun Fact: Before the F-117 was publicly revealed, Testors Corp produced a kit of this airplane, claiming it was the 100% real top secret F-19 stealth fighter they somehow got insider info on.
Everyone freaked out, congress got involved, Tom Clancy wrote it into one of his books, there was a Transformer based on it, and then like a year later everyone found out the real stealth jet looked like a collapsed tent rendered on a Playstation 1. Everyone forgot about the Testors F-19 model after that.
Not me though. I remember about the F-19. Look at how lovely it is! Even when it's so, so small.
