*Echo seemed enraptured by the battle, but flinched violently when Slippy was thrown into the wall. She held her bracelet tightly, a surprised expression on her face.*
"Yikes. That...looked like it hurt." *She muttered, trying to see if she could spot injuries on Slippy. She turned towards Into, a nervous grin on her face.*
"If Titan was up for it, I'd love to be up there myself. But he's more a protector than a fighter, and doesn't like battling unless it's life or death."
*She reached up to fiddle with her hair, a distant expression on her face.*
"Don't get me wrong, he's extremely powerful. The few times I've needed him to fight...I don't think there was anything left besides the ash. He's uh." *She shrugs* "Thorough. Not really suited for something more competitive when I'm pretty sure he doesn't consider the fight over until the threat is dead."
*She sighs, shoving her hands into her pockets.*
"But man, in another world me and him could take the circuit by storm with the help of a couple other pokemon."
(Did I imply that Titan is a Reactive dog who was trained as a guard/attack dog? Yes. Yes I did. Hes a good boy. He's also extremely protective and gives no shits when a fight starts about the condition his opponent leaves in)
Slippy looked battle-ready regardless of the condition the wall was left in. She trilled and levitated above the ground. The two went back and forth, exchanging Dragon Claw, which sent sharp gusts of wind over the crowd. Ingo had to hold down his hat due to the winds threatening to blow it right off of his head, and his hair begun to snap back and forth. "Two strong Pokemon! Bravo! An interesting pair, those two."
Ingo returned his gaze to Echo while still holding his hat down. "But yes, Slippy's okay. She's used to intense battles! That's the cost of being a gym leader's Pokemon, and it's barely a 'cost.' She enjoys it!" He paused for a moment, humming in thought, and moved to gently pat Echo on the head. "I'm glad you have protection, Echo! This world is dangerous. Remember your safety checks! Be careful, though. If Titan sees something as a threat and it *isn't*... well, that wouldn't end very well! Perhaps I can help you train him to not attack as brutally? Sometime in the future, that is!"
Ingo gently took Echo's hand into his own and led them back to where Emmet was. The white-coated enby was making the physical movements of cheering, though they weren't yelling like the others in the crowd.
"The battle is verrry interesting, yup yup!" Emmet stated when Ingo returned with Echo. They acknowledged the noise-cancelling headphones and smiled warmly at them, then returned their gaze to the battle. What they didn't expect, however, was Elesa glancing off into the crowd. He wasn't as focused on the battle, and the challenger noticed that.
"Keep your eyes on the battle, Elesa!" He exclaimed. "Don't underesti-"
Elesa hushed him up with a swift raise of his hand. Both Pokemon stopped attacking and were curiously watching the gym leader approach the edge of the battlefield. He knelt down, focused on a kid no older than six, who was pressing her hands over her ears. She was practically curled up on herself, her parents not quite realizing her distress, and the crowd went quiet, as did the music.
Elesa gestured for the group around the kid to move away from her briefly, and he took off his headphones. Gently, he offered the pair to the kid, and her eyes lit up with recognition. She was nervous to accept the gift, but did so with a little bit of encouragement.
"Keep them," Elesa said softly, though he was heard due to the attached microphone. "You need them more than me. I have spares! There's a water station to your right- stay hydrated, little one."
"What are you doing?" The challenger asked with a slight tilt of his head. He noticed the child when he walked a bit closer, and then fell silent. "... Hm. That's why you stopped the battle?"
"Yes," Elesa replied and straightened up when the child put on the noise-cancelling headphones. "I care for every one of my fans. I want this to be a pleasant experience, not one of distress and discomfort." He returned to his spot behind Slippy, and the challenger returned to his own. "You can make the next move since I interrupted!"
"Very well! Ajax, use Slash!"
When the Garchomp lunged forward, the music started playing once again. The bass could be felt beating through people's chests and bodies, and funnily enough, went to the beat of Ajax's stomps.

Hehehe I love subtly infodumping my OC lore in every ask. Hope it's not too much :P (I know you said like "don't make your self inserts Too Much" but I'm just having so much fun developing her story and then dropping hints at my ideas hehe.) Your blog is so fun to interact with!!
I am also completely prideful and utterly thrilled to be apparently your most consistent asker. One day when this blog is huge I can dab in your askbox and be like "I was here first suckaz!"
HA! Yeah no you're good. The "Too much" thing is in response to trying to change the story to accommodate an OC/self insert/etc. You aren't trying to change the story! You're honestly adding it. I won't elaborate on this, but because you chose to go to Ingo instead of Emmet, meeting Jewel would've been slightly different <3
Asks have the possibility to change the outcome of some scenes~
(I love doing stuff like that. Every ask matters!)
But yeah I hope it gets huge one day! I want to create a public Discord server for this blog, but I haven't yet because I don't think many people would join due to the blog being small! But one day :)

*Echo took the headphones quickly, shoving them over her ears quickly. The instant relief from the noise was obvious, as she practically melted into Ingo's side now that the overbearing of it all was gone.*
"Thank you" *She signed, mouthing along with the words instead of speaking verbally. The charm on her bracelet shone brighter, and Titan's ball rattled slightly, but a quick pat seemed to mostly calm him down, the ball stilling but the charm staying lit.*
"I'm sure you're used to the crowds." *She said, voice returning to her.* "But growing up isolated plus lots of wilderness as an adult means I'm not really used to people."
*She looked over to the worker, lifting her headphones slightly to hear the reply.*
"Is there an intermission between battles? For people who need a break?"
The woman, although her face was hidden by the Florges mask, her tone indicated she was smiling. Her eyes were slightly squinted in the holes of the mask, acting as another indicator. "Of course, deary! There's an intermission for signings, too. Mr. Ingo right beside you, along with his brother- how are they doing, by the way?- have personal access to go directly to Elesa, so maybe you'll get the chance to meet him! He's very nice."
Ingo nodded firmly, showcasing excitement with little physical alteration. "Emmet's doing great, thank you for asking, ma'am! And we sure do. I can probably get you to meet the star of the show, Echo, my treat."
When Ingo offered that, they glanced back at the fight on the stage. He observed the Garchomp who was watching the circling Vetra. From the distance, it was a bit difficult to hear the commands of the trainers above the crowd, but the visuals were all that was needed. Vetra dove forward, glowing with a dim green light that brought out the sparkles of her fur, and struck the Garchomp. U-turn.
The Garchomp was unfazed and attempted to swipe at the smaller Pokemon, but she was returned to her pokeball rather swiftly. In her place, Slippy the Eelektross was sent out, and she let out an excited trill. The opponent's Garchomp roared and charged forward along the stage, each step as thundering and swift as the last. His head was lowered like a jet's nose and he tucked in his arms to extend out the wings on his arms.
The Garchomp cut through the air with ease and upon reaching Slippy, his claws shone with a beautiful purple radiance. It clashed with Slippy's own purple claws, in turn sending out sparks of purple that flew above the crowd. The sparks dissipated into nonthreatening sparkles, but soon enough, the Garchomp managed to push against Slippy and strike her underbelly. A loud trill was heard from the blow, along with a crash from Slippy striking the wall behind Elesa.
"That Garchomp is strong," Ingo commented as Slippy crawled out of the Slippy-sized crater. He returned his gaze to the masked saleswoman. "Ah! Pardon my lack of manners. What is your name and what are your pronouns?"
The masked woman didn't answer at first. She was focused on the battle, particularly the Garchomp, but then she perked when she fully processed Ingo's words. "Ah! Uhm... Just call me Jewel. She/her. Nice to meet'cha!"
"The pleasure is all mine."

“Woooaah! This place is so cool!! Everything is so bright!”
The little zorua wiggled around excitedly looking around at everything with wonder.
“Oooooh! Thats ‘Elesa?!’ He is so pretty!”
[Zorua Anon]
Emmet was now alone since Ingo went off with Echo- well, not necessarily alone, as they were holding the little Zorua in their arms. They smiled down at the Zorua and hummed thoughtfully. "He sure is..." they murmured softly with a bit of blush dusting their face. They ignored the heat and chalked it up to the building being hot. "Regardless, you're probably going to stick around a bit, huh? Do you have a name, little one?"
They lifted their gaze when they heard cheering from the crowd. Elesa sent out his Pokemon from his held Quick Ball. Sparkles exploded outwards in an elaborate display, and the spotlights were positioned to focus on the Emolga that was flying around the stadium. Unlike most Emolga who were black and yellow in color, this Emolga was paler. She was more brown instead of black, and the yellow was a bit duller, marking her as a shiny.
Emmet knew this Emolga. Her name was Vetra and she was a speedy flier and often U-turned out of battle. The pivoting allowed Elesa to gain control of a battle. If the challenger didn't work around the pivoting, then they wouldn't have a chance to regain control.
In response to the Emolga, the challenger sent out a Garchomp. This Pokemon was rather small for a Garchomp, and scarred from many fights in the brutal wilderness. He was even missing an eye. That didn't stop him from letting out a guttural roar that got the attention of the crowd.
"A classic Ground Type strategy," Emmet commented as they began to pet the Zorua's little head. "Unfortunately for the challenger, Vetra has U-Turn instead of Volt Switch now. It's to deal with pesky Ground Types. It won't do too much damage, but it'll allow Vetra to pivot out into a different Pokemon, yup yup!"

*Echo tucked Titan's pokeball into her jacket, hands fiddling with her bracelet as she walked with the boys. The large crowd seemed to make her uncomfortable, but she was still entranced by the lights.*
*After a moment she leaned close to Ingo, cupping her hands so he could hear her.*
"Can I hold onto your jacket? The crowd makes me nervous, but I figure you might wanna wave and cheer, so I'd let you keep your hands free."
*She looked nervous about asking, but her discomfort of the crowd seemed to overrule her anxiety regarding infringing on other's personal space.*
"Elesa is amazing, by the way." *She said, to both twins.* "I don't think I've ever seen someone so pretty!"
The group made their way through the crowd, but Ingo perked up upon hearing Echo's request. He tilted his head towards her, but nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! I'll guide you safely through the hazardous land known as a crowd!" He didn't need much help to be heard over the crowd. "Elesa offers noise cancelling headphones like his- completely for free. I'll grab them for you!"
Ingo allowed Echo to hold onto his jacket as he carefully guided her through the treacherous crowd. He held Echo closely, very protective over his newfound passenger and friend, and approached the table that had various boxes of headphones. There was woman, about 5'6" in height, who was handing out the headphones for the small group that crowded around the table. She had a mask on that mimicked a Florges from Kalos- a rare sight in Unova since Florges can't be found in this region. Her hair was large and curly, styled in an afro to resemble a Florges. She was possibly a cosplayer who made an outfit for her favorite Pokemon since Elesa often based her outfits on various Pokemon.
She had a smile to her voice when she spoke to Ingo. "Ah! A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Ingo, sir! Do you need some headphones?"
"That'd be appreciated, thank you," Ingo stated with gratefulness laced in his tone.
"How many pairs, sir?"
"Just one. I already have some, as does my sibling," Ingo answered and accepted the headphones. They looked like Elesa's with the red and blue-striped "horns" and the white base color. Ingo handed it to Echo shortly afterwards. "Here you go, Echo!"

*Echo smiled at the effort of the twins to make her feel better, and nodded at the news about their eyes.*
"Born with it, or ghost exposure?" *She asked, leaning against Titan as he moved through the station.* "I know some traits can be added through exposure."
*She reached up to pull at one of the white strands of hair framing her face nervously, but made no other comment.*
*When Titan finally exited the station, Echo gasped at Nimbasa, blue eyes widening in awe.*
"Oh it's *gorgeous*." *She said about the city, pushing herself upwards to see as much as she could.* "Everything shines!"
"We don't know. Born with it, maybe?" Emmet answered.
"It's freaky to most people," Ingo added with a subtle shrug.
When the group exited the station, the sight of Nimbasa City was visible in all of its glory. It was a bright metropolis with bustling activity, especially in the amusement park and the famous Ferris wheel. It was a popular date site, and tourists from all over often visited the city. Not only was the amusement park very popular, so was Elesa's gym and the Battle Subway.
Just as Echo commented, the city was constantly shining ever-so brightly. The Ferris wheel and the amusement park as a whole had fairy lights that fought off the darkness of shadows threatening to snuff them out. There were some spotlights emanating from Elesa's gym nearby, almost acting like a beacon. The twins were quick to point down at the gym so Titan would fly there and land.
Once the large Golurk landed, the twins scrambled off of his back. They hurriedly gestured for Echo to follow, though it'd probably be best to put Titan back in his pokeball due to the crowd.
When the twins and their new companion entered the Nimbasa City gym, it was almost blinding with the lights that radiated from the runway. The crowd was going wild when Elesa stepped into view- the three of them were just in time to witness the start of Elesa's show.
As always, he was gorgeous. His outfit consisted of gorgeous shades of blacks and grays highlighted with blues and golds. He had a belt that had lightly dangling golden stars that resembled a Luxray's tail, and he spun a Quick Ball on his finger. He flipped his head back, causing his black hair highlighted with blue to follow suit.
Elesa was about to battle a challenger who wasn't as flashy as him, but had uniquely dyed purple hair. Longer strands of hair covered his left eye, and he had fluffy bangs with soft sideburns. He was holding a homemade pokeball in his hand, made from apricorns, and it had some kind of mark- presumably to tell which pokeball had which pokemon.

*Echo laughed as Titan moved again, flying quick for newbies, but rather slower than Echo herself was used to.*
"I've never needed a helmet. After a while, a Golurk just. Learns to accommodate you. Here look-"
*She points to the spot she is hanging onto, obviously comfortable with her grip. There are little grooves and jutting pieces of rock coming out of Titan's back exactly where her feet and hands rest.*
"I don't remember the explanation for it." *She says, shrugging,* "But my ma always said a Golurk fits their person."
*She pats Titan softly, tracing a section of dark rock.*
"We're both shinies too. I was the first kid in like, ten generations to have the green hair of our town's founder. Some crazy rare recessive gene. Made the elders weary, till Titan hatched and came out glowing the same shade."
*She grins, moving her gaze from the twins to look around at the city instead.*
"It's why I don't have any other pokemon, sides Titan. When you have a bond like that...it can't be replaced. I knew I'd never be able to connect with another pokemon like I did Titan. It's me and him till the end of the line."
*She blushes, looking at the twins sheepishly.* "Sorry! Didn't mean to ramble. He's just real special, y'know?"
(OC lore to bridge the travel time hehe)
The twins listened breathlessly and with curiosity. Their eyes shone with unbridled interest, and they stared intently with incredible focus. When Echo apologized for rambling, Ingo was the first to act by putting a finger to her lips.
"No need to apologize, my friend!" Ingo exclaimed, though a bit too loudly. He removed his finger from Echo's lips and gave his best smile, albeit strained, and didn't look much like a smile. The thought is what counts. "We very much enjoy learning about the world. Thank you for sharing."
"I am Emmet. I enjoy learning. Your history is interesting," they declared. "Titan is beautiful, as are you. Shiny Pokemon, shiny human. Fitting. If you get criticism, send them my way. I'll shut them up!"
"Emmet, no."
"Emmet yes."
Ingo shook his head playfully, but both he and Emmet knew that Emmet was serious. He'd have to keep an eye on his brother. "Regardless... both Emmet and I have a trait that is very unusual! Our eyes glow in the dark."
"Only reason they're not doing it now," Emmet began, "is because the station is lit up. Not enough darkness."

Random person: is flying on a Golurk even safe??
Echo, who as a small child used to hang onto the Flaming Arm of her mom's Golurk while it flew around: Yeah man totally safe
(She might be slightly biased. It's safe if you Know What You're Doing. She took a couple tumbles when she was a kid and learned quick)
FOR REAL
Don't get me started on Skyla. While they (I hc Skyla as using they/them) are a professional with planes, they totally fuck around a lil
Worries Ingo and Emmet sometimes LMAO
Elesa likes the thrill

*Echo nodded, waving at the Zorua with a grin.*
"Yeah, the Zorua asked. I always find it neat when they use Psychic to communicate. Sharp as a nail, those pokemon."
*She had easily shifted to allow Emmet room on Titan's back. The perks of being short.*
"And don't worry about safety, I've been riding different Golurk since I was a toddler. I could probably fly Titan blind and be fine."
*The rumble underneath her seemed to disagree with the idea.*
"Speaking of Elesa! Which way Subway Bosses?" *Echo asked.* "I've got no idea where we're going."
Emmet's expression shifted a bit when Echo mentioned that the Zorua spoke. It wasn't unheard of, though it depended on the strength of said Zorua. To cast a useful illusion to pretend to be a human, one would have to speak like one and learn to act accordingly.
"I am Emmet. That kind of sounds like Fudge," Emmet commented with their usual smile. "Fudge is Ingo's Zoroark. Verrry friendly. Verrry powerful. Troublemaker."
Ingo chuckled a bit, though his expression didn't change accordingly. "Perhaps I'll bring her out sometime! But that's for another time." Ingo then pointed to the tracks that ran ahead of them. "Those tracks lead to the surface. Elesa's gym is near the station. Just follow those tracks!"
"And it's good we have a professional on board!" Emmet announced with pride beaming on their face. "Safety measures need to be taken. I would recommend helmets next time, but this was a spur of the moment. I'll let it slide!"

*Echo giggled when they caught up to Emmet, leaning over to beam down at the Subway Master.*
"Need a ride?" *She asked, barely getting the words out through her giggles.* "I don't actually know where the gym is, so you'll have to give Titan directions."
*She gave the Golurk's head an affectionate pat, smiling softly.*
"He'll get us there in no time."
*She turned towards Ingo, looking the other twin over.*
"Having fun?"
Emmet seemed dumbfounded when the Golurk flew closer to them, carrying the near-stranger and their brother. They kept up their usual grin. "How in the world-" they managed out, but didn't think about it too much. Before they could grab hold of the powerful Pokemon, something caught their attention.
As for Ingo, he had to hold onto his hat to keep it steady, but he nodded. "I am having a blast!"
Tumblr media
The little Zorua piqued Emmet's interest when they saw it try and catch up to the humans and Titan. They were swift to scoop up the Pokemon into their arms so the Zorua didn't have to keep running. Shortly afterwards, Emmet climbed onto the Golurk with surprising expertise on where to put their feet for the best traction and leverage. They weren't sure if they heard the Pokemon talk, however, and chose to ignore it. Surely, Echo or someone else had asked about Elesa.
"I am Emmet. This is a Zorua. It was chasing us. Someone asked us about Elesa."
Ingo patted the little Zorua's head. "Elesa is our very good friend. He has a show soon!"
"And do not worry about the safety of the Golurk! Ingo and I are here! We will keep you verrrry safe, do not worry!"
