Hi everyone, I come to you with a very important cause today. In Canada, the United States and elsewhere, disabled youth are often being forced into nursing homes and hospitals (whether it be for mental illness or to await housing placement.) These lists are years long and can even render disabled people homeless with little support. The problem is that the government in these places does not care enough to fund more personal support workers to come into disabled peopleâs homes. The disabled person ends up not getting their needs met and is forced to leave home to a nursing home or hospital. Itâs time we take a stand against the institutionalization of disabled people once and for all.
If youâve reblogged any of my posts, please let it be this one.
Itâs my favorite thing when a lesbian is just like âI got extra fries with my meal, gay rightsâ or an enby is like âwow trans rights I just got a free gift card to the moviesâ or a bi dude is like âfinally found a plant that wonât die, queer rights I guess.â Like that is the funniest shit I donât care.
Reposting our g0fundme as we havenât gotten any donations in a while.
Iâm a disabled trans person babysitting my siblings (3, 10, 11) basically every day. My mother works for/with my ill grandparents and hardly makes enough money for even just rent. She cannot find another job as my grandparents need her, I canât work because Iâm disabled and have to care for my siblings.
In general, weâre in need of clothes, a microwave, an oven, help with billsïżŒ, cat supplies, hygiene products, etc. We also need groceries incredibly often having a family of two adults, two preteens, and a toddler, PLUS a broken fridge so we never /really/ know if food has gone bad.
Our lives are miserable, weâre so far from normalcy that it stresses my mom and I into daily breakdowns and I am so tired .
Anything helps, please boost đđ„ș
