I've been obsessed with it since around this time last year, the show has SUCH a unique history and even spurred a completely illegal sequel at one point. The musical is honestly insanely good overall for a lot of reasons AND it's still going to this day! There's a production running in Bochum, Germany that's been running for ages, and this summer they're opening up a new non-replica (aka not using the original train-like costumes) production in London!

The show used to be in America too (see: Engine Of Love debuted in the Broadway production) and from what I've heard it was decently popular all around, but ofc it got overshadowed by its sister musical Cats (yes it is by the same guy who wrote Cats) and today most ppl shrug it off bc it's "weird" which like it is but that's the fun part!! It's supposed to be whimsical, fun, and weird bc the entire plot is made up by Control, who is actually a little kid playing with his toy trains! The costumes are one of my favorite parts, they're really pretty,, (and yes the whole thing IS performed on rollerskates and it IS as dangerous as you'd think! multiple performers got injured last year if my memory serves me right, but fear not! they're all okay!)

Lumity is a really good ship to me not just bc it's canon or popular, but it rlly highlights the experience of young queer romance. The joy of finding someone Like You that understands you the way nobody else does, who can empathize with your struggles as a young queer person.

The way Rusty (the MC of Stex) and Luz suit each other so well is INSANE like ik it's probably just bc they're both main characters that follow the underdog trope but they also both get to meet a god and gain powers from said god so I think that counts for something. And their gfs were both kind of mean to them before they got together. AKA that's my reasoning for editing Luz to multiple Rusty songs. They're like the same guy to me.

Tiktok has lost some stupid deal thing so now all my TOH edits with Stex audio have been muted so I'm blowing the dust off of this blog and I'll be posting both of those edits and my passion project to here because I NEED the share the I Am The Starlight edit with people so bad once it's done. I have literally been chipping away at this thing since March of last year it has gone through so many revisions.

Scrungly moment, basilisk oc who was able to escape and continued living in the demon realm, assumed a completely new identity and enrolled at Hexside.

Nobody really knows their true origins, and Bump was giving an incredibly skewed version that mainly highlighted the fact that they’re kinda an orphan with no place to stay...and left out the part that they’re a creature that should be extinct. So they stay with him currently as a sort of temporary living situation while they try to find a good home that is willing to adopt a young witch such as themself, and behind his back they hunt for pieces of magical relics to keep up their disguise (stealing magic from living things feels wrong, but they’ll do it if they’re desperate). They’ve found a way to perform at least a basic level of magic, and get by with the cover story that it’s a genetic problem that causes them to not be as good at casting spells as others.

Needless to say, Luz coming along was a huge life saver, because the two of them could swap tips and tricks as two people who can’t do magic as good as a natural born witch.
