Binormativity and not having a word for something doesn't mean it stops existing. If a culture didn't have a word for "baker", and they made bread for a living, we as humans would still look at them and call them a baker. Erasure of gay/lesbian characters is a big deal but ignoring the stated straightness of a thirteen-year-old isn't. When I was thirteen I thought I was straight. Explicit heterosexuality in a heteronormative society =/= explicit homosexuality in a binormative society.
look im not willing to get into some argument okay all i want to say is that kanaya can be shipped with guys as well as girls and people should stop flipping shit if i ship her with a guy because all she canonically dates are girlskarkat doesnt canonically date anyone (matesprite wise) so i should assume hes asexual if you want to use that logic

you know why i love eridan? because he wasnt afraid to deal with his problems. he saw a problem and then dealt with it. even if that did include murdering a person, blinding another, and impaling the last. eridan didnt complain to his other friends or try to work around them. he said "fuck these fuckin landdwwellers, gettin in my wway. kanaya, can you make me a science wwand, i need it for... reasons. vvery scientifical reasons." he saw a problem and eliminated it. karkat would have just ranted about it to terezi, gamzee drowned himself in soper pie, vriska would have come up with some complicated plan that completely relied on luck. eridan just fucking charged in there and wrecked shit and didnt look back.
