The floor at the Norman Chapel is actually plain, and the memento mori skeleton has been inlayed in post-prod, this is what you will see if you go to Palermo :
The picture probably takes his inspiration from the Skeleton Praying on the Marble floor of the Cornaro Chapel at the Santa Maria della Vittoria church in Rome :
That’s why Hannibal’s skeleton looks more wooing than praying ;)
