TeleCollsion! Where fiction collides live on reality televsion! Or rather, in a video game now... Demo out now on steam and itchio under TeleCollision: Your Adventure! Contact & Bug Reports: [email protected]
A quick behind the scenes look at how TeleCollision is built.
Sometimes, when you're making a game, you mess something up and leave it in because it's more of a pain in the butt to fix than it is to leave it in the game. Something a player will never see during a normal play through.
And TeleCollision has this one thing. Below is the slime meadows, a game room at the start of the Woodland Village starting level where you fight your first slime. I really really wanted it to look like there was more going on there than there was, like perhaps the room could open up at some point for further exploration.
And well, I knew I needed a lot of space, but didn't know exactly how I much I was gonna need... Anyway, below the cut is a screenshot of the room from gamemaker, showing the full size of it.
It would have been a pain to move everything I built back to the top right and shrink the room down... So I didn't :)
TeleCollision trading card stickers I made on stream today!
These are game assets, but they won't be used for TeleCollision, they'll be used for the deck building trading card game I'm building entirely on stream, which will be set in the same universe.
If you wanna see me make game assets, game dev, or play games, give me a follow on twitch!
TeleCollision is a top down story driven turn based RPG where you make an original character, then set off on an adventure alongside eccentric characters that seem to know a lot more than they're letting on... Something is off… And that gray man in the bowler keeps showing up…
Time your attacks to do additional damage!
Collect and equip trading cards to adjust your skills and stats!
Talk to shop keepers of ill repute, who seem to also be wearing an off putting faceless mask like the man in the bowler hat?
Learn how to utilize the strange characters that you're saddled with to fight cute and vicious enemies on your way to figuring out exactly what sort of adventure you didn't sign up for!
While we were hoping to release at the end of January, the demo isn't quite done cooking! Life gets in the way, slows things down, and not only do I have a tiny bit more of content to finish making, I have some features I'd like to implement before launch.
Thank you for everyone that's been waiting patiently for this, I'm so excited to share it with you! We're hopefully going to see a release by the end of February. In the mean time, feel free to wish list the new steam listing so you know the moment the demo is available!
We are nearing time for the reworked demo to be done, and I couldn't be more excited to share it with everyone! I'm hoping to release it by the end of January!
In the mean time, please enjoy this trailer for the new demo that Daniel made.
Unironically one of the best reviews this game has ever gotten
(translation from google translate)
Nobody reads my reviews anyway.
I’ll throw in the recipe for curd donuts
Products
Cottage cheese - 500 g
Flour - 1.5 cups
Chicken eggs - 3 pcs.
Sugar - 0.5 cups
Vanilla sugar - 1 sachet (10 g)
Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
Vegetable oil for frying - how much will it take?
Powdered sugar - to taste
Grind cottage cheese with sugar, add eggs, mix well.
Sift the flour. Then add flour, vanilla sugar, baking powder and mix everything thoroughly. The dough is ready.
Divide the dough into three parts. Roll the dough into sausages. Cut the sausages into pieces.
Roll out small sausages with your hands and form into rings.
Heat a frying pan or cauldron. Pour in vegetable oil. Donuts can be completely immersed in oil, or halfway (then they need to be turned over when frying). Place the donuts in hot oil, fry the curd donuts until golden brown for about a minute on each side.
Place the finished fried cottage cheese donuts on a napkin to absorb excess fat. So fry all the donuts.
Cottage cheese donuts fried in oil are ready.
Don't forget to sprinkle with powdered sugar!
Bon appetit!

Sometimes you spend a very long time working on some code, only to realize what you trying to make isn't going to work anyways and you should start over.
But at least there's rubber ducks in a derelict space station now. Small miracles.
While this rework demo is still in progress, if you haven't checked out the original iteration, you can check it out on itch and steam!

Rework Update March 2023
Look, let's be honest, game development takes a long, especially so when you're doing everything by yourself. Though I'm eternally thankful I don't have to score level music, thank you Daniel.
To start, there is not a playable update yet.
I want to be clear about that, but I'm still working hard chugging away at it. I would say I'm nearing 75% of a new playable demo. I wanted to give an update about some new features.
Something I did not anticipate was how long it would take me to expand the character creator, which admittedly, I probably got carried away with, but I also plan on continuing to add things to it for the full release of the game. As a quick overview, the opening of the game where you make your character has been streamlined. There was some frustrations as to how many screens the current demo has in the character creator (and maybe some frustrations as to how many achievements I tacked onto it in steam, but to be fair that was my own private joke).
When picking almost any character option, you now have the option of picking a color from a pallet, or adjusting color values to taste. I really want people to have fun making an original character in the character creator. There's also the randomizer button for anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time in the character creator, or just wants to see a mash of options.
Character classes now come with different stats per class, which you can see in the character creator. Different classes also come with different starting equipment, and different starting trading cards to equip that hold class specific skills. The class trading cards can also be acquired through game exploration, and if you equip 2 of the same kind it increases the effectiveness of that skill. There's also a sixth class now, which is None, where your character will have no weapon sprite, average stats, no starting equipment or starting cards. This is meant to be more of a starting challenge to the game, but it's also for anyone who does want their character holding a weapon in combat, and would rather punch.
Level reworks should be done soon, something I touched on in my last update is a new merchant character. zYxl will still be a game merchant, but They'll only be dealing in trading cards with the new card system, Skralmf is going to be your new seedy item and equipment dealer. I made this change because I knew I wanted a card shop, and I originally rolled both in zYxl's shop, but I realized it would be better if they were separate. zYxl and Skralmf have a shared backstory I hope to hint at in game, and are both delightful to write dialogue for.
I really hope you are all looking forward to a new demo coming out. I apologize for the radio silence, there's been a lot of work done on very few features, so not much to update about despite all the work being done.
Five new cards for the trading card system! Each of these tie into one of the five classes, Fighter, Mage, Rogue, Space Hero and Summoner!
Rusted Blade (Top Left) - The hero's sword, now lost and forgotten, but carries the memories of the friendships the hero had made along the hero's journey.
Forgotten Tome (Bottom Left) - The hero's spell book, damaged by battle and the elements. Only a single spell remains legible.
Tarnished Ring (Center) - While originally stolen by the hero, the thief that swiped it from the hero never had the opportunity to use it.
Devoted Companion (Top Right) - The hero's faithful robotic bud. It's still waiting for the hero, to go on more adventures. It's unaware of the hero's fate.
Frayed Link (Bottom Right) - The hero had made thousands of links to other realms and creatures. Now only one remains.
The trading card system allows you to equip cards you find to change your stats and skills to customize your build!
A smaller scale version of the trading card system is in the current TeleCollision demo, Your Adventure, on steam and itch.io right now!
