Thanks to someone reminding me that I had it, I found myself playing with FaceApp yesterday and ended up with something both adorable and heartbreaking.
We're all very familiar with how the three experienced Wolf Witchers look, some of their history, our own various headcanons etc. There's also a lot of really great art of them as kids of various versions, which I adore. But this? This breaks my heart because I just want to wrap them in blankets and protect them from what's to come.
Look at them? The fresh faces, the baby cheeks! These are the faces of baby Witchers going out on the Path the first time, alone. These are highly trained high school kids. Heartbreaking, and makes some of their history and some of the stories I've read even more painful.
Especially when, a few years later, you have this baby faced adorable little shit. Who has had such a crap start to life, who hates being a Witcher SO much and, game cannonly, who has recently watched his equally baby faced friend get killed by Old Speartip.
I know that even in our society we send teenagers off to war but knowing what the attitude towards Witchers is in universe and thinking of these three facing that and being worn down by DECADES of it, makes me very sad. I want to protect them all!!!

On the other hand, the idea that this fresh faced little poppet once existed, makes me happy. And it is now my accepted headcanon that Regis used to have an adorable mop of curls.
