Arda just hacking into the system preventing the shields from redeploying. Or making it so energy has to be redirected from somewhere else. And that somewhere else being the prison holding Watts, Jacques, Qrow and Robyn.
So that would give Ironwood the option between, saving Atlas and having to reluctantly free the prisoners OR letting Atlas fall and keeping the prisoners locked up.
