I keep trying to write a synopsis of this which makes it sound less weird but I can't really. But it has:
Mycroft being a good big brother in his own Mycrofty way, in the face of finding out he effectively an extra brother now.
Watson being a very good father, but also having a lot of feels about his son being genetically identical to his deceased best friend.
(Although he wouldn't put it like that because it's still the 19th century and nobody knows what a 'gene' is yet.)
...Did I mention this is set after the Final Problem?
Mary doesn't die.
A philosophical exploration of nature and nurture, what makes one person distinct from another, and the nature of familial relationships.
Also just a really stupid concept. Like, really very silly.
A while ago I was thinking about how some Sherlock Holmes media is really intent on giving him a child, often via an affair with Irene Adler, and my reaction to that was "Lol he'd be more likely to end up with a child through some sort of weird science cloning experiment than that"
And I've currently written 20,000+ words about that.
Here is said clone encountering BUNS for the first time.
In my defence this is only JUST weirder than anything actually in the canon.

"Lost" "Mycroft" Illustrations
I've always been kind of sad that my All Time Fav Mr Mycroft Holmes only appears in three Sydney Paget illustrations, and only clearly in two.
So, imagine my delight to discover that after Sherlock's waterfall-induced hiatus, another series illustrated by Paget appeared in the Strand called Martin Hewitt Investigates, starring a chap who looks similar enough to the elder Mr Holmes that my little fannish heart can accept them as being him.
For comparison, here is Mycroft:

There are plenty of illustrations where he's doing things that I can imagine Mycroft readily doing, like sitting around, standing around, and visiting a bakery.

I should probably stop finishing fan binding projects late at night and then scrambling to post pictures of them taken in gloomy electric lighting
I wanted a little soothing project I could complete in an evening because I'm sick and my brain is bleh.
The Presbury Letters is my fav Katie Forsythe Sherlock Holmes fic, but the short length means I knew I'd need to be creative about binding it.
It features a series of covert letters sent during WWI, so I thought I'd make it looks like some kind of secret dossier. It's got my first attempt at french link stitch, and an exposed binding.
