To those living overseas,
Tumblr media
We thank you for being interested in the Japanese actor, Haruma Miura! Have you ever seen him on YouTube or other SNS site? If so, we are so glad to hear that!
He was mainly an actor, but he also became a talented singer, as we realized when we have watched him interpreting the Caccini’s “Ave Maria” in a very professional falsetto. His career as an actor started at the age of 7 and he starred in many dramas and movies since then. Such movies like “Koizora (2007)”, “Kimi ni Todoke (2010)”, “Harlock: Space Pirate (2013)”, “Five Minutes to Tomorrow (2014)”, “Attack on Titan (2015)” have been screened in many countries overseas.
Haruma has been a guest of honour to many international events, such as Tokyo International Movie Festival (Special invitation), Japan for “Koizora”, Istanbul Japanese Film Festival, Turkey for “Kimi ni Todoke”, Venezia International Film Festival, Italy and Stockholm International Film Festival, Sweden for “Harlock: Space Pirate”, Busan International Film Festival, South Korea and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, Taiwan for “Five Minutes to Tomorrow”, Hollywood Premieres, the US for “Attack on Titan”. He was a young movie star, very popular especially in Asian countries.
In the recent years, he played the main roles in the Broadway musicals “Kinky Boots (2016, 2019)”, “Crime and Punishment (2019)”, “Whistle Down the Wind (2020)” and more. His work has been highly appreciated by stage directors and critics in Japan and overseas. He passed away in the summer 2020.
More recently, he spoke about his future dream to expand his career overseas and was thinking to introduce the appeal of his native country to the world. For this, Haruma travelled and interviewed people living in 47 prefectures over 4 years to be able to write about traditional crafts and industries of Japanese people.
Finally, he published this book “日本製” (Nihon-Sei) on his own 30th birthday, April 5th 2020.
Let us introduce the book.
About “日本製” (Nihon-Sei)
In this book, Haruma Miura writes about the Japanese industry and technology, culture and life, as they have been transmitted from generation to generation.
Also, he writes about how young generations who take over these traditions have been trying to develop in the future their skills and contribute to the welfare of their country. Reading through, you will be able to find new aspects about the traditional development of industries and crafts in Japan.
Examples like crafts and food culture in various regions, successes of TOYOTA, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), and rememberance of the war devastation that Japan had to suffer.
When he wrote the book, Haruma used all his five senses, the magnificent Japanese surroundings, and his beautiful words.
The book was in the end 408 pages long.
Our team, Team Sekaharu (To introduce Haruma Miura to the world) has been supporting “日本製“ (Nihon-Sei) to be translated into many languages and be published as “A New Japanese Guide Book” for people overseas.

After wrapping up the last scene in Tengaramon, Haruma was presented with a bouquet of flowers that included lotus receptacles, which is the floral symbol of his prefecture, Ibaraki, with pincushions and red banksia.
I believe that whoever brought the bouquet for Haruma Miura was to wish that he and his movie would spread their wings over the world.
In the language of flowers, the pincushion suggests ‘success anywhere’.

A Polish boy, Zbigs (do not know how to pronounce), sang “Fight For Your Heart” for a tribute of Haruma Miura.
So impressed as he sang in perfect Japanese!
Since he lives in a multilingual area, he may be able to pronounce foreign languages well.
The song made me forget a blue Monday.
Thank you, Zbigs!
