The reason why someone is estranged from their family is indeed for them to know and everyone else to find out, as the axiom goes. Itās when they then go on to adding to the narrative tragedy like fire and violent death that can be easily disproven, and that people are going to respond negatively to, that there is a problem. She is exploiting, pure and simple, very real scenarios that affect so, so many (even her then-close friends!), when she could simply say: āI donātĀ talk about my familyā, and that would be that. Whether the fire story and all her other lies were born out of malice or ignorance (in my opinion, the one does not preclude the other) doesnāt really matter. Those of us who donāt have a horde of flying monkeys on hand to defend our tactless behavior have to take responsibility for our words and actions.
Am I the only one who isnāt mad that she concocted a persona with a different backstory than hers? As someone who studies 19th to early-to-mid 20th century cinema and celebrity, that is what was done and that perfectly aligns with her aesthetic. In the victorian and right up until the 1950s and sprinklings beyond that; it was the celebrity archetype to fabricate fantastical stories about your cultural background, your relation to famous historical figures, dramatic life stories. It was known that above all else, these people were entertainers and not only did not owe their audience an honest preview into their personal lives, that they couldnāt be expected to do that, and it was part of the glamour and mystique of celebrity.
Iām especially not mad that she lied/continues to lie about her family dying in a fire, such a dramatic lie could only stem from a deeply frayed-possibly-abusive familial relationship and as a survivor myself, if that telltale is how she unconsciously chooses to signify the permanence of the separation then that is entirely her prerogative and not ours to question the ethics of.

I'm making a picture book combining hand drawn illustrations and photos and decided to make a tribute to Emilie Autumn as a thanks for all the fun over the years. Said tribute being recreating the cupcake still from the 1st edition of TAFWVG and including it in one of the photo spreads. Thanks to @bonnytymepyrate for uploading a pic for me to work with šš¹š

Some probably arenāt going to like your book for some reason, whether itās objective or not. Some readers wonāt get what youāre trying to express, or misinterpret the whole thing altogether. That doesnāt mean your product isnāt good. That goes for both hobbyist writers and best-selling authors. Donāt dwell on it. Just write, itās an incredible journey and you know it. The thing about EAs book is that itās very hard to be objective for all sorts of reasons. Thereās its subject matter and how itās approached. We could go on ad infinitum about the inaccuracies of how mental health care is portrayed, how only the opinions of the main character matter and the gratuitousness of the violence portrayed in the fictional parts. Is The Asylumā¦ doing more harm than good? Iām leaning towards yes. Not solely on behalf of the aforementioned parts, but because of its target group. Sheās speaking very directly to a very limited audience of people, most if not all have their own opinions not to mention experiences with the very same things she writes about. Many are also conflicted about the quality of her music versus the quality of her as a professional and person. Itās intimate. Strong reactions are inevitable. My advice as a fellow writer is to consider your audience while writing, as well as your style and skills. Iām all for raw talent and would love to read something of yours!!
EAās fansā (?) reactions to her book have made me strongly question my own writing. Or, well, mostly the mentality some have, āI hope more people see her book - so they can tear her to shreds and tell what a shitty author she is!ā. Iāve a long way to go, and I wouldnāt say EAās a stellar writer either, so it gives me bad kinds of chills to think, that what if I ever publish something, and people will have same kinds of thoughts on that? Damn my cowardice! *shakes fist*

Problem is that itās an Emilie Autumn confessions blog. Not a kiss-Emilie-Autumnās-bloomered-ass-blog. People whisper their opinions, good and bad. And considering how the fanbase is dwindling, thatās how it has to be.
I wish people would stop nit picking everything negative thing about Emilie Autumn. Itās like almost every confession on this blog is always saying something negative about her. Itās so annoying. If y'all donāt like EA then donāt listen to her or whatever, and maybe not confess on this blog?

You mean she can't please everyone. That's usually what happens when a fanbase consists of more than one person.Ā
BASICALLY ea canāt do right or wrongā¦.whereās that leave her?

I do. Her antics proved to me that it is not healthy nor empowering... six years ago.
I watched The Devils carnival last month and that is how I found Emilie Autumn. I am going to say I was becoming a bit obsessed and started reading this blog to find out more about her history. I think after reading eBook and reading about her past and also actually looking at the words behind her songs, will stick with Evanescence and Amy Lee. Ppl who donāt want to lock you in sum dark space and keep you miserable as fuck. Donāt know how peeps are not seeing her āartā or āoutletā is unhealthy?

Most people who aren't skinny does not see her as superior in any way.
Re-reading AFWVG for the first time since high school (now a college graduate) and dear god was there always this much fat-shaming and skinny-superiority? Iām an incredibly thin person and whenever she writes about the hospital ājudgingā her body and wanting her to āconformā to their āfatā standards I just want to punch her. Thereās a difference between being naturally thin and not eating in a hospital and noticeably losing weight. Itās people like her that give skinny people a bad rep.

Oh, so THAT'S she can't just smile in pictures like a normal person. Sigh...
Praise Emilie. Boost her ego. She needs it because she had a hard life and is so underrated.

If anyone ever actually finds it, I will bake that person a cake. :P
Iām not too fond of the idea of physically hiding a treasure. What if someone (any normal person) finds it by mistake, letās say a person is walking their dog and this one starts digging and suddenly a glamourous spoon appears. Or what if the police are looking for a corpse and find it? Iām sure it wonāt be in the news, so probably itād be thrown away and there wonāt be a physical prize anymore, even if someone cracks the puzzle and go to that location.
