I've encountered a strangely large number of stories online of single men who decide to test the theory that married men are inherently more desirable to women by buying a fake wedding ring and wearing it. They usually report that this works miraculously, women are far friendlier and more approachable, which is immediately interpreted as flirting. The conclusion they draw from the data is that women are inherently cruel, selfish and greedy, because clearly they don't want the man unless they think they're stealing from some other woman.
I wonder how many of these women in these experiments actually just thought they don't need to be wary about this man mistaking friendliness for flirting, since clearly he's not looking to date as he's already making someone else miserable.

“it’s not cis people’s place to talk about gender” why not though? according to gender ideology cis people have a gender as well, we are just ok with what we were “assigned” at birth. a cis woman has a gender otherwise she wouldn’t be a woman right? so what makes you more qualified than me to speak about gender and what gives you the right to talk over me about it when we both apparently have one?

i’m sorry but what’s so crazy about thinking teens identify as trans/non-binary because it’s trendy? we’ve already seen the same thing happen with depression back in 2012-2014 on tumblr, a lot of people were faking it because it made them seem like manic pixie dream girls or whatever. what makes you think today’s teens are somehow more mature, self aware and not seeking ways to be special and unique?

Korean feminists and everyday women are refusing/not wanting to have children in an increasingly sexist and anti-female society. 4B movement is very admirable.

As much as I love that JK Rowling is being shredded for her transphobia, I'm begging y'all as a trans man to acknowledge that the fucking Hogwarts Legacy game is fucking antisemitism personified.
Jewish people are very often erased from this shit already, ACKNOWLEDGE that the entire game's premise is about it. Jesus fuck.

if you don't want people to bind for years because of dangers to ribs and lungs, you should be advocating for easier access to top surgery...
Lmao as if top surgery doesn’t come with its own risks. You might as well say ‘shapewear isn’t good, so what women should get is liposuction :) ’. How about coming to peace with your body? Whatever happened to that?

If we have to say “people who can get pregnant” instead of women when discussing abortion… do we have to say “people with vulvas” when discussing FGM? “People with breasts” when discussing breast ironing? “People who menstruate” when discussing period huts? Can you not see how this takes the focus away from the fact that one particular group—women—are being subjected to cruelty after cruelty? Why do we have to define ourselves by detached body parts or abilities, when the reason we have these body parts and abilities is because we are women? When every single one of these issues can be traced back to the word women/woman?
When we discuss sex-based issues by saying women, we can continue using that word no matter what issue we’re talking about. And that will draw attention to just how many issues women face just for being women. Otherwise, we’re pretending there’s no one thing that links people who can get pregnant, people with vulvas, menstruators, etc.
By listing off individual parts of women instead of just referring to us as women, you are forcing us to come up with a new term every time we want to discuss women’s issues. Instead of letting us discuss the issue at hand, you’re making us first sit and discuss “what should we call ourselves this time?”, when we already have a perfectly good word to use.
And you are avoiding the blatantly obvious truth that women are not subjected to sex-based violence because we happen to just have all the parts and abilities that are targeted…but rather these parts and abilities are being targeted because they belong to women.
If you really want to hold onto the idea that woman doesn’t mean female, then just say female! No matter what your gender is, if you were born female, you will be female until you die. But it really is preferable that you get over yourself and understand that your gender identity is not more important than the ability to clearly discuss misogyny and who’s affected by it.

All research done in regards to 'rapid onset of gender dysphoria' has been limited and poorly done. I won't argue that, but when we see it with other disorders (tourettes for example) why is it crazy to consider it with gender issues.
Saying it's to "boost their social status" I'd like to see more exploring that topic. Many of the studies do say that gender dysphoria/trans identity is often seen among friend groups. But the argument is always because we're more aware of gender issues.
As the oop posted in early 2010s we saw rise in claims of depression. Pro-Ana and self harm groups were popular among online forums and certain peer groups. Did it boost social status? Absolutely not when it came to the general public and school. Among close peer groups and certain online forums which glorified it however?
Most studies say it can't possibly be to "boost social status" because "they still experience bullying."
You know, that didn't stop the Emos of the early 2010s from dressing alternative. Or the goths of the 90s. The idea of social status especially among teenagers is much more nuanced than what these studies suggest. I wasn't popular for self harming but I sure had friend groups, and online forums where it was edgy and totally not cringe to show off our scars.
When the only treatment plan is Affirmative Care, arguably the data for 'how this disorder came about ' is going to be skewed. Reports of 'feeling better' within the first few months of affirmative care and transition does not automatically mean longterm success. Professionals aren't allowed in most places to ask or explore the onset of gender dysphoria. Female Detransitions over and over again open up about sexual assault and sexual discrimination possibly being what led to their gender confusion. But any discussion of such is considered transphobic.
I remember Pro-Ana community discussions about becoming more androgynous and less sexually appealing (as females) being rampant. It wasn't crazy to suggest a rise in eatinf disorders was likely influenced by media and close peer groups - nor was it crazy to suggest sexism and sexual abuse could be a factor for many.
And I'll argue that it an issue caused by social influence doesn't make it any less of a disorder that deserves treatment. Girls faking tourettes online still deserve psychological help. The issue is jumping into 'affirmative care' that leads to treatments that have long-term irreversible side affects before ever exploring the possible cause. Especially when "gender dysphoria isn't necessary to be trans," what exactly is being treated and how?
Following through with what I saw of my anorexic peers. The treatment for those who were purely influenced by media and websites needed to be different than the treatment for those who were suffering from OCD and trauma. Both groups were experiencing anorexia, but in different ways. The popular treatments at the time ofren left many individuals suffering. I believe we're seeing that with the Detrans community and it will only get worse.
It really is hard to see why it's so crazy to consider these factors (which we have seen across the board for decades with other disorders especially among young females) as being a possibility for the increase in transgender youth.

Social media causing social contagion and munchausens of disorders is nothing new. During the pandemic especially psychologists were reporting a sudden rise in teen (most girls) experiencing tourettes, dissociative identity disorder, narcolepsy, unexplained pain etc. With parents reporting it as 'rapid onset' with no previous signs or symptoms. And professionals being criticized for labeling these patients as 'fakes'. They weren't refusing the treat the patient, but they were refusing to treat a self diagnosis that was obviously being faked. Which of course creates issues for people with disorders/disabilities that are hard to diagnose.
Professionals literally cannot do their job and use critical thinking without being labeled abelist or transphobic all thanks to affirmative care for self-id always.
