Drawing thumbnail beats in our feature film just for the love of drawing while on production. This is such a fulfilling way to fill up your inspirational tank and stay sharp on a production. It’s part story, thumbnailing, beatboard, composition, and character design all wrapped into one.

I am thrilled to be nominated for an Annie Award for The Bad Guys this year in the area of Character Design! Congratulations to the entire crew and to those talented artists that were nominated as well!

Exploring shape language, texture, and color palettes early in development. One aspect I loved is testing out the idea of the crew using sea monster scales as armour.

First design I kicked to Chris Williams to break into the design world of the production. Part of my assignment in the beginning was to come up with playful, rugged and dynamic pirates as part of Jacob’s crew. We went for it with the designs!
