YouTuber TamaTamer Obtains Rare Moll and Lora On Mothra Tamagotchi
Tumblr media
If you’re not familiar with the Mothra Tamagotchi than you might not understand how big of a deal this is. The YouTuber TamaTamer posted a video of the two Tamagotchi’s he is currently running, a white Mothra and a black Tamagotchi Original P2. Much to his surprise he noticed a character on his Mothra Tamagotchi he hasn’t seen before. The name of this character is “Moll and Lora” which is extremely hard to raise, and is exclusive to the Mothra Tamagotchi originally release in Japan back in 1997.
How does one obtain Moll and Lora? Well the answer to that is unknown, but we might have a hint as to what happened here. Prior rumors were that obtaining this character was dependent on on the previous character dying and leaving an egg behind, which needs to be raised with good care. However it appears that TamaTamer was able to obtain Moll and Lora on the Mothra Tamagotchi by a glitch involving rapid changes in contact with the batteries.
Before packing for a move TamaTamer found his Mothra Tamagotchi with the battery tab still in, he pulled it out and instantly stay Moll and Lora knocking down a tower, he was in awe and placed the tab back in and shortly after changed the batteries due to seeing a few glitches on screen.
Tumblr media
This very well could the first and only documented case of a Mothra owner caring for Moll and Lora, and it’s just wild to think that we are learning about a Tamagotchi character from 1997 that we know very little about. Moll and Lora are actually quite adorable, and you can see this through the animations of them eating and playing games together, especially when they celebrate winning! TamaTamer says the tearing down towers is really cute too, which is something they do when acting out and the owner must discipline them.
Even more interesting is their bedtime which is 2:00PM! How wild is that? TamaTamer notes that they wake up at 9:00AM too, which would give this Tamagotchi the shortest period of play ever! Another interesting tidbit is that Moll and Lora grow really fast, TamaTamer shows that they are already four years old, and by no means have they been with him for four days. Now TamaTamer isn’t sure if this is all normal, or perhaps due to the glitches he was experiencing after booting the Tamagotchi.
How cool is this? We are in awe ourselves! We are still very much learning new things about Tamagotchi’s that were released back 24 years ago. Have you ever seen Moll and Lora on a Tamagotchi Mothra before? Be sure to check out the TamaTamer’s full video here.

Tara Badie, Senior Director of Brand Strategy, Showcases Tamagotchi Pix in Video Interview
Tumblr media
If you don’t already know of Tara Badie, then you’re about to! Tara Badie is a Senior Director of Brand Strategy at Bandai America and is a crucial figure in the Tamagotchi lineup in North America dating back to the Tamagotchi Friends.Tara recently joined Fred Fishkin of Techstination, a daily radio and online report on customer technology for a Zoom interview that has been posted to YouTube!
Tumblr media
Tara introduces the Tamagotchi Pix and even gives us some footage of the actual device, how exciting! The key features she speaks about are the touch buttons, the camera, and the enhanced gameplay. Tara shows off how you can now pet your Tamagotchi on screen with the new touch buttons, and how you’ll actually be able to bathe your Tamagotchi and help them get cleaned up with these buttons too!
Tumblr media
You can use the camera button on the top of your Tamagotchi Pix to not only take pictures with your camera that your Tamagotchi character can appear in, but also take screenshots! Tara notes that pictures can only be sent to other Tamagotchi Pix devices, and not connected to other sources. The Pix will be able to hold up to 100 pictures, and users can delete select pictures once their memory is full. With the camera you get to explore in the real world as you are out and about, your character will explore with you, and at times their friends will pop up in the real world! This feature is available in the explore menu of the Tamagotchi Pix. Speaking of which, it looks like the menu has a small redesign and features two pages of icons.
Tumblr media
The Tamagotchi website will feature missions starting this summer that you can complete. Once you succeed in the mission you’ll get a Tama Code (which is a QR code) that will give you exclusive items and more.
We did notice that the animations are incredibly smooth from the live footage, it appears that Bandai may be moving away from the pixelated animations and are really upgrading them! The host, Fred, asks about the demographic of the device. Tara informs Fred that although the device is marketed to children 6 years of age or older, there is a diverse Tamagotchi community that really is excited about everything Tamagotchi!
Tumblr media
With this many features battery life must be a concern, Tara informs viewers that the Tamagotchi On achieved roughly 10 days of battery life, and the Tamagotchi Pix will actually get less battery life thanks to the camera feature. The battery life should be approximately 7 days, so we are looking at a 30% reduction in battery life but of course that is all based on use. The Pix will take two AAA batteries, which Tara Badie thinks is a bit unfortunate; and we agree!
Tumblr media
We really love this new feature that Tara goes into detail about. The Pix will feature a memory book that you can create through your Tamagotchi’s life. Seven days after your Tamagotchi grows up until adulthood, they will ask to go back to Tamagotchi Planet. You will be able to drop three pictures of your character into a photo book along with customize items that you’ll be able to paint. You’ll see your Tamagotchi character return to Tamagotchi Planet on screen reviewing the photo book, and then your Tamagotchi will choose which egg to send to you to raise next! This is a feature we’ve never seen before, and are SUPER excited about!
Tumblr media
Pix will feature a memory book so you can customize items and color items after 7 days after adulthood the Tamagotchi asks to go back to Tamagotchi Planet, you drop in 3 pictures of your character and your Tamagotchi goes back to the planet and the Tamagotchi character reviews the photo book and sends back the egg it believes is right to raise next!
Bandai is really excited about the distribution of the Pix, noting that pre-orders are already live for Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart in the United States. The Pix carries an MSRP of $59.99 USD and will be available in stores this July! Tara also notes that two styles will be joining the family “in early spring” but that would be now, wouldn’t it?
Lastly Tara stresses the durability of the device, and informs viewers that how-to videos will be published on the official Tamagotchi website around launch. These videos will cover the new features of the device to help new caretakers learn more about the Tamagotchi Pix features. This is the first multi-lingual product that Tara has worked on, and she’s super excited! Users will be able to choose their language (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese) once they boot up their device. The language will be asked before the user enters in their name, and their birthdate.
We must say that the interview really gave us a lot of information and some gameplay on the Tamagotchi Pix! We still have lots of questions that we want answers to, and we’ll be sure to get them soon! Be sure to check out the full interview here!

Bandai America Officially Announces the Tamagotchi Pix!
Tumblr media
It’s here! Bandai America has officially announced the Tamagotchi Pix, the next generation interactive virtual pet! The key features of the Tamagotchi Pix are awesome and will really make this Tamagotchi more interactive than ever. Let’s review the key features:
Built-In Camera - Say, “Cheese!” The new Tamagotchi Pix has a built-in camera so you can take pictures with your Tamagotchi! You can also customize, cook, and explore by using the camera to bring the world around you into your device for a more interactive play.
Touch Buttons - Get ready to feel the difference! The Tamagotchi Pix still has the iconic 3 buttons, though now they’re touch buttons making interacting with your Tamagotchi character just a tap away.
New Social World - A lot more to LIKE! A social feed built into the device will allow you to safely show your Tama adventures with your Tamagotchi character’s friends.
Professional Career - Help your Tamagotchi character figure out what professional job it will bring back to Tamagotchi Planet! When you go into your Character’s room and play with your character, you will help it decide if a professional job is what it wants, and if so, what future career it wants. Also, when your Tamagotchi character goes back to Tamagotchi Planet, it will help figure out what egg to send back to you to help raise your next Tamagotchi character.
Leveled Up Play - Now there are even more ways to earn Gotchi points and keep your Tamagotchi character happy with a variety of new games! And starting in August, you can go to Tamagotchi.com and successfully complete missions to download new items and gifts for your Tamagotchi character
BFF Connection - Friends that play together stay together! Connect with your friends’ devices with a Tama Code and share in the fun! You can now even plan playdates with your Tamagotchi characters when you can’t be with your BFF!
There are some really unique features that we are so excited about such as being able to cook, which will allow you to mix foods together, an the ability to customize items, the new social feature which will allow caretakers to safely share pictures with your Tamagotchi character’s friends! Also - how long have we been asking for scheduled play dates? They’re finally here with the Pix! We are also intrigued by the mention of a “Tama Code” which you’ll use to plan these playdates, could this be a QR code? Last but certainly not lease we are so excited to see that careers have made a return! We loved the careers feature on the Tamagotchi Connection V4, and V4.5.
Tumblr media
It also looks like this version will not feature any form of genetics, which is a change of course from the Tamagotchi M!X and Tamagotchi Meets/On/Some. This feature was introduced for the 20th anniversary of the Tamagotchi brand, but did receive some criticism in more recent days. Some Tamagotchi users want to be able to raise pure breed characters - and it looks like you’ll get just that with the Tamagotchi Pix!
Tumblr media
The official Tamagotchi website features a new “Characters” link in the menu bar which allows you to meet the characters featured on the Tamagotchi Pix! Right now there are only four listed, but we know there are more as they are featured in the commercial, and on device screenshots. These characters include Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, Memetchi, and Momotchi! Selecting the character gives you a brief bio and a list of their favorite food, snack, item, and accessory. Are the days of hints gone?
Tumblr media
The Tamagotchi Pix is only available in two unique shells this July, which are the Floral Pink, and Sky Purple. The packaging and website dos reference the other two colors, which are Ocean Blue, and Nature Green.
It looks like Bandai America specifically will be adding the Tamagotchi Pix to their existing Tamagotchi lineup, at the bottom of the official Tamagotchi website you’ll see links to the Tamagotchi On, and Tamagotchi Original pages, however there is no official word on this yet. If Bandai America is expanding their lineup perhaps we’ll see even more devices soon!
Tumblr media
There is more good news! It looks like based on the “Where to Buy” page that the Tamagotchi Pix is getting a rather international release! The device itself supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese language. The Tamagotchi Pix itself will be available at several retailers across the globe in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. No word on any other countries so far, but with the device supporting additional languages this could happen soon!
Tumblr media
The MSRP for the Tamagotchi PIX is $59.99 USD, which is the same price as the Tamagotchi On. Pre-orders for both he Floral Pink and Sky Purple are now listed on Amazon and Best Buy so far. Bandai informs readers that the Tamagotchi Pix, and we’ve seen Amazon list Thursday July 1st, 2021 as their release date. It looks like we’re going to have a Tamagotchi Pix summer, what do you think?

Tamagotchi Pix Commercial Leaked!
vimeo
It looks like official commercial for the Tamagotchi Pix has been posted to Vimeo ahead of its official announcement! The official announcement should take place on Wednesday April 21st, 2021 but for now the commercial gives us an appetite for what’s to come!
The commercial showcases select features such as the new camera, and some screenshots of other screenshots that we have not seen before. It’s also interesting that the only two models advertised in this commercial are the pink and purple, but that probably means theres another commercial for the blue and green. You can also see that Bandai America did change up the packaging from the leaked Amazon listing. Overall we are more excited than ever for the official announcement tomorrow, what do you think?

Deleted Facebook Post Claims To Have Tamagotchi Pix Intel
Tumblr media
It’s been a while since we’ve heard any Tamagotchi Pix news, and in complete transparency this Facebook post is quite a few months old. A member of the Tamagotchi Collectors Facebook group posted about the Tamagotchi Pix back in September. This post was deleted shortly after by the original poster spilled the tea, but a lucky few were able to grab a screenshot and respect the privacy of the original poster by removing their information.
It’s important to note that this post was before Amazon leaked the Tamagotchi Pix listing on their websites. It is quite impressive how the information provided in this post matches the Amazon listings, but we must disclaim that this is by no means confirmed and could still be rumors. Let’s take a deeper look at this post.
Tumblr media
The post starts off by informing readers that they have some information to share, but to keep it real private about where the information originated from. The original poster is concerned around getting in trouble, which is totally understandable given that the product hasn’t even been announced. The original poster alleges that their friend attended a Tamagotchi presentation from Bandai where they learned about the upcoming Tamagotchi, the Tamagotchi Pix. It is super impressive that this name matches the listing we saw on Amazon months later.
Allegedly a July/August 2021 release, with an announcement in May 2021. This means the device will be announced roughly two years after the Tamagotchi On in North America, and launch roughly two years after the official launch of the Tamagotchi On in North America. This means that Japan will have waited almost three years for this new Tamagotchi, it seems like Bandai wants all countries on the same schedule moving forward.
The post then provides bullet points of the key features of the alleged next generation Tamagotchi! First off is that the device will be larger (which is interesting because seen conflicting reports that the device will be the same dimensions as the current Tamagotchi Meets & On). The Pix should include AR (augmented reality) like features and a camera, no surprise here folks.
Secondly, the original poster claims that the device will feature a touch screen. This is not something we are confident about. As we saw in the Amazon postings, the buttons will actually be touch (perhaps capacitive buttons with haptic feedback).
The camera can be used to take pictures of food, and this will then allow the user to feed their Tamagotchi these foods! This seems really cool if it pans out, imagine going through your fridge to feed your Tamagotchi!
The next alleged feature got us REALLY excited. Claims of a “Pokemon Go” like feature. This feature would allow you to find your friends outside. Imagine being able to walk outside with your Tamagotchi and run into other Tamagotchi characters. Would it just be characters randomly placed geographically? Could we interact with other Tamagotchi users nearby? Could this be the rumored Tama Social? We’re intrigued!
Another bold claim is that the Tamagotchi Pix will feature QR codes, which actually makes some sense. Since the Tamagotchi Pix will allegedly have a camera, you should be able to scan QR codes with the right programming. QR codes will allegedly allow users to add friends easily, make playdate, and gift items. Is this how Tamagotchi Pix’s will connect?
Tumblr media
Lastly the original poster claims what we’ve seen in the Amazon postings, there will be three types fo eggs with eight types of characters, and the goal is to raise each well to unlock a new egg. The device itself will be palm sized, and be available in pink, purple, blue, and sea green.
