The Oriental Lilies have started to bloom in my garden here in Austin, Texas! I am growing them for the first time and I am smitten by their beauty. It is difficult to get large and showy blooms in our hot and humid climate but the Oriental Lilies deliver! They were super easy to grow and I intend to plant more next year! Unfortunately, I can’t share the name of the variety, since this one should have been pink but is clearly a mislabeled one! I love it anyway, though! The lower parts of the two berms that are positioned along the pathway leading up to our frond door are still pretty empty but I am working on gradually adding plants as time and budget allows. Plants have gotten so expensive here in Austin. Is that the case where you live as well? Anyway, I am going for a cottage garden/English garden style and I stumbled over this beautiful perennial phlox, called Paparazzi Jagger Phlox at Shoal Creek Nursery which perfectly fits the bill. I love the soft lavender color and its ability to bloom profusely for a long time. If this phlox does well in my garden this year and comes back after the winter next year, I will definitely get more of it. Does anyone of you grow phlox in your garden?
