Coming off of my recent post about Huntokar, I also want to say how much I loved the next episode, Matryoshka.
Like, how Steve mentions how they all just ignore things, they ignore the angels, just like he ignores the mean things Cecil says to him, they ignore so much because it is easier.
And how he comes out and tells Cecil to stop, tells him it bothers him when he says mean things, even if it’s a joke, which actually allows them to talk about what issues there are, the source of all Cecil’s disdain towards Steve.
The fact that the reason that Cecil hated Steve wasn’t due to him not trusting their government or believing in conspiracy theories or seeing the arrows in the sky, but that it was due to something very personal. How he felt that Steve doing what he could for Cecil’s sister, his wife, took away a duty from Cecil.
Because it helped Cecil, it took away the stress of that entire situation, he didn’t need to worry anymore, but he also felt like he needed to do that, and Steve took that away from him.
And repairing their relationship, no longer just ignoring the comments he makes, it’s the start of things, the start of fixing things, of acknowledging the angels as people that exist and saving the town.
Saving everything all starts with just talking it out, talking through personal issues between two people, and then it just expands from there.
I really liked this episode.

I just listened to episodes 109 and 110 of Nightvale, and I don’t know what exactly is different, but I’m really enjoying this show this time around.
A story about Huntokar laying out everything, explaining different things that kept coming up in the series, the fact that the world ended decades before, the parallel timelines, the origins of the distant prince, the woman from italy, the faceless old woman, all of that.
I don’t know why I didn’t attach to it before, but this time around I was just fascinated hearing all of it, how Huntokar tried to reach out and save the town she loved, but ultimately failed and doomed all other worlds.
How there were various Cecils she tried to speak to, some who heard her, some who didn’t, some who failed, some who tried their hardest. That section might have been one of my favorites from the episode.
And her talking about a great dark planet lit by no sun, I remember a while back seeing people freak out about that, so it’s something I’m keeping my eye on.
And then how it’s mentioned that the soft meat crowns and the bloodstone circles, it was all made because they felt the love she felt for them and tried to return it, until they’ve reached where they are now, where they don’t remember why they do all of these things.
I just really loved the episode. I’ll talk about episode 110 in another post.

I’m really getting into Magnus Archives lately, so I might post thoughts on it. I’ve listened to the first 80 episodes 3 times each, and the first 120 episodes twice each. And I’m going through them all over again.
I just keep going through them and noticing more and more things that were placed there that you can only find when you’ve gotten information from episode 80 or 111 or something like that.
Like, going back to episode 3, I noticed that I was only paying attention to the NotThem, that I didn’t even notice how weird Graham was, and I really feel like he was being chased by The Eye.
I used to not really like season 1, since it just seems like a bunch of unconnected statements, but it’s fascinating going back through them and seeing connections.
