Suzuki Tatsuhisa Talks Behind-the-Scenes of FFXV: Part 3
I wasn't going to post this today, but I was listening to Rage on and that led me to think about Tatsu. Again. So here we are!
In case you missed Part 2, click here! If you wanna read from the beginning, go here! And if you want to listen along, here is the original video! This part goes from 10:03–12:21.
———
Tatsu, host Shimazu Shintarou, and assistant host (and fellow voice actor) Kubota Miyu discuss why it's hard for voice actors to look back on their past work.
Shimazu Shintarou: Hearing you talk about it now… This may sound like a joke, but I found it interesting that if you were playing Final Fantasy even though you're the voice of Noct…
Suzuki Tatsuhisa: Yeah...
Kubota Miyu: You're right.
ST: Yeah, and with that [in my head] all the time, I couldn't play it.
SS: Yeah! I imagined it'd be hard for you to play.
ST: I can only do it for a little while. I can watch other people play it, but when I play it myself… Let's say I watch [the characters] run or something. They'd all be talking to each other. The more I'd listen, the more I'd be like, "If I tried to match [this line], maybe it'd have this kind of nuance…
ST: It's… You know. Like, "Yeah, it could be like this."
SS [to KM]: Do you do that? Do you think like that when you watch something you've been in?
KM: I do. But I think just about any voice actor will do that.
SS: You may be right about that. But you're the type to do that?
KM: Yeah, I really am.
SS: What about your music?
KM: I think about it with my music, too.
KM: It's especially true with music. When performing live, you tend to perform it better than when you recorded it in the studio.
SS: You're definitely right.
KM: So you'd be like, "Aaaaah!!" a little bit.
SS: And with idol music… When you weren't quite in it yet, someone asked you to sing everything, right?
KM: Shh!
SS: I'm not gonna mention which idol it was.
ST: Did you know who it was?
SS: I'm not saying who it was.
ST: Since [Kubota-san] asked you to shut up.
SS: My lips are sealed. But it tends to happen. I couldn't help asking.
KM: That's right. But it happens in both [as a voice actor and as a singer] for me.
SS: When you were in your band, you were able to sing your heart out and put everything into the recording, right?
ST: Yeah, yeah.
SS: Depending on what it is.
ST: I've composed music before, so I could put myself in that position well. It's easy for me to do that.
SS: I see. It happens. But what an amazing experience that was.
ST: You see, I couldn't have done it on my own.
SS: But there are fewer than 20 people who have been the protagonists of a Final Fantasy game, who can play the game that they are in. Even if you include the spin-offs, I still think it's fewer than 20.
ST: You're right.
SS: I don't know if that's the right number, though.
ST: Well, yeah. Like [Uchida] Yuya-san [voice of Clive Rosfield, XVI protagonist] or myself. Or [Morita] Masakazu-san [voice of Tidus, FFX protagonist] or [Sakamoto] Maaya-san [voice of Lightning, XIII protagonist].
ST: You're right, there aren't that many of us.
SS: What an amazing experience.
ST: It's embarrassing… It's like, I stopped being able to play because I knew I'd start criticizing myself.
SS: It's a nice story to hear.
ST: Like, if we're talking about dialogues in the open world, "I misjudged the sense of distance here." Like, "Aaargh…"

After Oppenheimer release in Japan at last, audiences give it a nice evaluate basically. However the greatest critic is: Bitters End didn't give them a Japanese DUB because of dozen of professional terms that let them hard to understand! Netizens in Twitter are making tones of Oppenheimer dub wishing list. Even only Oppie, there are basically have three choice right here... Do they consider Oppenheimer is a Byronic Hero?
PS: Kenjiro was dubbed Cillian's role once in Anna (2019 spy movie)
