Full Rant for Those who hated those Animated Series which were supposed to be the Gems, over the Years!!

Now, if you are thinking, why am I showing you this Screenshot, if you ask?? Then well, here you go!! Again!!

This is why, Real Good Animated Series don't exist or if it really exist, then all of them would be cancelled afterwards!!

Above screenshot is why Star Trek: Prodigy was cancelled and people are blaming Paramount and Nickelodeon for this!! This is why!! And this is not only the case for Star Trek: Prodigy, but for every single show, which should've deserved the love and Attention, but never got any!!

People will only love what other people watches, no matter how bad they are, and I am so afraid that this should be the new norm!!

When everyone are saying, that It's not Star Trek, it's Star Wars, you're just triggering people not to watch Star Trek: Prodigy at all!! And that's why impacted a lot for Nickelodeon and Paramount to Cancel this series we all loved!! And hence yet you're just diverting the audience to watch Miraculous Ladybug and PAW Patrol, and I'm getting back to those!!

I swear to god, whoever this person watched this series, that person is not only wanted This not to move forward, but hated this series outright from the very beginning!! Will you be happy, if you see any person or some person outright negatively reviewed your show, so that the production company behind closed doors, can cancel it?? And this argument of "Not Star Trek, it's Star Wars" just repeated so many times on the reviewing platforms, that Nickelodeon and Paramount forced to cancel this series, despite of renewing it to season 2!!

I'm sorry!! This just solidified that you just want people to watch Miraculous Ladybug and PAW Patrol and other Cash-grabbing Shows!!

And if you think this is the case for Star Trek: Prodigy alone, then you're wrong!!

This has happened same to Peter Rabbit!! Despite it was successful on Nick Jr in the US and CBeebies in the UK in first place, the cancellation fate of this series is no different to Star Trek: Prodigy, even way back in 2016!!

And now, we're on a state, where Star Trek: Prodigy fandom has to trend the #SaveStarTrekProdigy hashtag, just like The Owl House fandom were doing the same last year with #SaveTheOwlHouse, when The Owl House got Cancelled by Disney!!

Something we need to learn from the Cancellation of Star Trek: Prodigy!! First, Thomas Astruc and Jeremy Zag from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, and Second, Jennifer Dodge and Ronnen Harary from PAW Patrol!! All of you, calm down!! You're not the Gods of Animation!! This is the Reality!! Maybe Your shows are Worldwide Phenomenons, and Make Billions and Gazillions of Dollars worth of Money by Merchandise Sales from your Fandom, but if you think you all would get away with this by overshadowing other shows greater than yours to get cancelled, just know that, we, the audience, have the power to bring you all down from your uprisings!! We all love Animation, but you should stop destroying the Animation by not having a competition!! Bullshit this is!!

I may sound like a Toxic one, but I know my Instincts and my Instincts never go wrong!!

Either we should stop Watching those shows, whose behind the scenes Showrunners disrespect the audience in order to make Money or we should stop supporting Animation until things get any better!! Because this is serious, it's going out of our hands in order to save Animation!!

AUDACES FORTUNA JUVAT ORIGINAL CHARACTER CONTEST

Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted Chapter One of Audaces Fortuna Juvat, The Girl Who Saw The World and I am currently in the middle of remastering Chapter One and writing up Chapter Two as well as plotting out the series as it is, which I must tell you, is very difficult but fun all at once! While I am doing this, I wanted to make a proposition to my mutuals and/or people who’ve begun reading Audaces Fortuna Juvat, preferably you’ll get brownie points if you’re under both of those two categories. What does this contest entail and what do you get?

For the first time, I am writing my first fanfiction but in addition, you have the chance to introduce your OC into the series as a guest star! What does this mean and what will happen? Before we begin, I’d like to implement a few rules and regulations before you begin applying your character.

RULES & REGULATIONS

-There are only up FIVE SLOTS available. You can reserve a slot, but only for so long. If someone posts an application after you reserve a slot and you do not fill out your application a week after they post theirs, they may very well get the slot over you. Also with that said, this is not first come first serve. Work for the character. Show me you want this character in this series!

-NO OVERPOWERED OC’S. I don’t want any OC’s throwing around Bijuudama’s, Rasengan’s Chidori, Izanagi, Izanami or a Susano’o. I don’t want OC’s with godlike power because that honestly makes the story boring and make it lose meaning. This story is about survival and so, so much more than that, I don’t want my fanfiction to be given a bad reputation, let alone ruin the message of the story I am trying to portray. Make your OC have strengths and weaknesses!

-Jinchuriki OC’s will not be accepted because I already have them all prepared.

-No Sage OC’s because said character would have to be over the age of thirty and the Era of Warring States’ average lifespan for citizen and shinobi alike was thirty years old and don’t even bother trying to argue that that Naruto learned it so fast; the majority of sages take much longer because senjutsu training takes many years to master and keep in mind that sages rarely have perfected their Sage Mode.

-Characters with the Rinnegan will also not be accepted, either, because that’s ridiculous.

-I’m rather iffy with this one not because I have anything against this clan but since I already have a lot of Uchiha OC’s - pure blood or not - in this story already, try not to apply an Uchiha character because I really don’t want this fanfiction to turn into an Uchihacentric fanfiction or the majority of the cast to be members of the Uchiha Clan because honestly that’s really annoying. I want the cast to be diverse and unique and not overflowing with Uchiha Clan members.

-Audaces Fortuna Juvat is based around the time of the Founders Era several years after the Founding of the Hidden Villages and seven years after Uchiha Madara attacked Konohagakure and when Senju Hashirama was in his prime as Shodai Hokage. It focuses on the events of the first ever established Chunin Exams, one of the most bloodiest spectacles in modern shinobi history and how despite its glorious exterior, it holds many dark and disturbing secrets behind the gemstones, silks, furs and luxuries. Many children and young adolescents were tragically killed in the exams and very few made it out alive and returned to their parents and homeland, and even fewer were promoted to the rank of Chunin. Due to this drastic setting, it is very much a possibility that that your character could die and you may or may not have a say in it. Not only is it possible that they could die - because pretty much almost anybody - if not everyone in the series except for the already canon characters can die - but they'll have a few scenes with a POV character but the story won't exactly focus on said OC in as much depth as, say, a POV character. The OC will not have their own arc because I already have enough baggage as it is but it is very likely that they could play a role in a POV character chapter, be it for better or for worse. It all depends on the OC and their surroundings. And when I say “you may or may not have a say in how that character dies”, I mean that. You can fill in all the information about your OC all you want, but I want Audaces Fortuna Juvat to be unpredictable, where readers have no idea who’s next to die and constantly worry about said character and if they’re going to succeed, and your OC will be no exception to this rule. By applying your OC, you accept that your character can die (and sometimes in a really tragic and/or horrible death as a casualty of the Chunin Exams, if your OC is between the ages of eleven to seventeen, and even if your OC does survive the Chunin Exams, whether they become a Chunin or not, they will suffer mental health issues and the symptoms that go with it. Everything has a consequence in this story and your OC is no exception to this rule either.) If your OC survives, congratulations, but now they need to deal with the aftermath and trust me when I say that’s going to be fucking brutal. :’D

-Canon characters with a Founders Era alternate universe counterpart will not be accepted no matter what the means be it no time travel or if said canon character was born into that time period. (i.e Naruto in a Founders Era universe). Jiraiya, Tsunade, Orochimaru and Sakumo are not even born yet so characters from their generation and age group will not be accepted, either.

-No love children or long lost siblings/relatives/lovers who suddenly appear and were always magically present, alive and well in the story (i.e no siblings of Hashirama or Madara, for example). Senju Hashirama has a wife in Uzumaki Mito and has children with her (hence no HashiMada), Tobirama is single and isn’t looking for anyone, he’s loyal to the village alone, Hikaku and Toka are happily married and have children (hence no MiToka), Izuna is dead and Madara is also presumed dead. We know he’s alive at that point in time in canon but the rest of the world doesn’t know that. Madara and Izuna are not coming back to life because the story is for the most part going to follow the canon timeline and they will only ever be explored in the flashbacks and memories of the POV characters. I’m not going to elaborate this any further.

-No crossover characters from other series and anime fandoms, no exceptions.

-Everyone must understand that not every character in the Narutoverse is a prodigy. Some are, some have to work for their power. If I start seeing too many prodigies I’ll have to kick off a few applications and no one wants that.

-No character will be allowed to have multiple summon contracts.

-Please don’t bring in your character’s entire clan (if applicable) into this series. I already have enough original clans in my grasp, not to mention the canon clans I’m investing in.

-If you wish your character to have split personalities then you will have to write a summary of each personality. It is expected that your personality section will be much longer if you decide to do this.

-One character per applicant unless if it’s near the deadline and only then can you apply one more OC to the list.

-Once you apply for a slot, you cannot withdraw your application because you’ve changed your mind. You made that choice and you’re going to stick through it until the end of the series. Consider carefully because you won’t be getting a second chance and I’m not going to wait around until the deadline and then someone suddenly doesn’t want to have their character in the series anymore due to because they don’t want said OC to die or for whatever reason and withdraws their character at the last minute, because it’s a pain in the ass and I’m not doing it.

APPLICATION

Your application needs to include all of the following and you have to prove to me that you REALLY want this character to be in this series. Also, fancy it up, make it nice, add information, create the character (unless if you already have a blog for said character) and add screenshots of faceclaims and/or original art! You have to prove to me that you will put in EVERY effort to get this character in and if your character get accepted you will be ACTIVE AS FUCK with that character if you have an ask/rp blog. That character will be your baby, your baby's baby. Your cat's newborn kittens or your puppy's best friend. Take damn good care of the OC you apply for or I will rain fiery hell upon your face. hybrid!woozi 🐱🐭

jihoon is a cat hybrid! he was adopted as a child and lived a fairly simple life with his family, who treated him like their own son

the token cat hybrid.... like you will never meet a hybrid who fits their animal DNA as well as jihoon fits his cat DNA: he's quiet and sleeps a lot and doesn't like being cute but can't help being adorable!!! acts standoffish but is actually the sweetest and cares so much about his friends!!!!

has small little black cat ears poking out of his hair with the pinkest insides!!! and a long tail that is always flicking around

doesn't like being snuck up on and hisses whenever someone surprises him :( usually he's reserved, but he can get pretty annoyed easily, and when he does his tail goes stiff and his hair sticks up a little bit...... it's so cute :( don’t tell him that though

he got into music when he was very young! because he has heightened senses he experiences music differently than humans do. it's like his whole body feels the notes and vibrations of a song.... and the first time he went to a concert he knew that that was what he wanted to do in life...... to make music

from that day on music was his number one priority, and honestly he was really really really good at it

his hearing helps him a lot with music since he's so attuned to the tiniest variations in notes, and even though he likes to sing (and is good at it) his true love is instrumental music and composing

luckily enough his owners supported this dream and sent him to piano lessons! and once he mastered the piano he kept going from there and learnt guitar and even a little violin

he really is a prodigy, especially with composing….. maybe it’s partially his heightened senses but he just has a natural gift for composing songs that really connect with people, especially other hybrids

his piano teacher always said that jihoon could play the exact same boring old piece as someone else and make it something extraordinary

and because he has such talent, of course he’s at college studying music and composition!!!!

his college isn’t a specialized music school, but he’s a legend on campus and especially famous in the music department…… people know him as the aloof cat hybrid who’s the best musician at the school

he’s also known as an asshole because he has a very intense resting bitch face and he’s quiet, but in reality he’s just shy ;( and doesn’t know how to socialize that well ;( he has a group of good friends but he doesn’t go out with them often because he doesn’t like partying, so people assume that he’s a loner

plus he lives in an apartment off campus by himself and holes up there on weekends, sleeping and eating and working on music

he can afford his own apartment because he works at the college library, but more importantly he plays a lot of parties and events that pay big money

it’s actually at one of these gigs that you meet jihoon for the first time……... the university’s president was hosting an event for donors and wanted someone to play live music and of course the music professors recommended jihoon (as well as violinist vernon)

just imagine…...jihoon in a fitted suit (which makes him antsy but he has to have one for these fancy events)...... sitting at the piano with an intense face as he reviews his sheet music…. his little cat ears twitching as people chatter throughout the room

that’s how you first see him, and your heart stutters because!!! wow!!!!! you didn’t expect to see someone like him at this dumb event

you’re not a donor, you’re a student at the university but the president always invites some of the top students to donor events, and you’re the best in your department

so basically you’re there to chat up rich parents and alumni, which is usually boooooring.... but when you see jihoon you feel like this particular night will be interesting

as well as being a student you’re also a hybrid….. .a mouse hybrid actually! which people always make fun of you for because mouse hybrids are very rare, but you figure at least it makes you unique

because of your mouse dna you’re very sensitive to sound and vibration and as you watch the handsome pianist start to play a new song, the sound hits you unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. you’re a big fan of classical music because you find it really soothing, but this song feels like it swallows you whole

you stand at the edge of the room in awe until he hits the final note and out of instinct you clap, because of course you should clap at a song as beautiful as the one he just played

except no one else is clapping and the pianist looks at you with an eyebrow raised and you immediately hide your face behind your wine glass (full of water lol) because HOW!! can someone be that handsome!!!! and charismatic!!! and talented!!!

while mice are relatively timid you usually aren’t, in fact you’re quite sociable and enjoy meeting new people so you think to yourself….. you should at least praise the pianist for his talent, and if you manage to….maybe get his number or something, that would be a big bonus

but something about him makes you so nervous that it takes you until the end of the night to work up the nerve to go over to him

as he’s getting his sheet music together and talking quietly with the violinist, you clear your throat and they both look at you

you vaguely notice how handsome the violinist is, but it’s like you can’t look at anyone but the cat hybrid pianist with his sharp eyes

“you’re the one who clapped” jihoon says and wants to HIT himself

because that’s the first thing he’s going to say to this cute mouse hybrid? and why would you want to talk to HIM anyways you’re probably here for vernon but why are you only looking at him not at the violinist and why is vernon winking at him from behind your head and what’s going on

basically he’s freaking out on the inside as you nod (incredibly cutely.....) and stick out your hand and introduce yourself. he can only dumbly shake your hand and mutter his name as you start to say how wonderful his piano playing was

but something about your smile and your enthusiasm makes jihoon’s worries disappear almost immediately! as you chat on and on about how wonderful his playing was and how different it was to any classical music you’ve heard before…..instead of being nervous he’s excited to talk to you because how could he not be????

he shyly admits that it was an original composition and you’re sort of swept up in your amazement, so you ask if he has other originals that he could show you sometime and jihoon looks taken aback for a second….you worry that you��ve overstepped but

vernon is behind you giving jihoon an enthusiastic thumbs up and mouthing “GO FOR IT” and he can’t let his shyness ruin his chance at a date with you

“sure, i’d like that” and he offers you his phone number and says you could meet up sometime soon and everything…. really everything is wonderful

you two go your separate ways, but that night you gush on and on about jihoon to your roommate and they’re like “please shut up” and ur like ,,,,,,,, “but HIS EYES! they SPARKLE!”

meanwhile he just sort of stares at his ceiling in disbelief thinking about how nice and sweet you were, and how you’re the only mouse hybrid he’s ever met that smells so good…. you smelled like flowers and grass and he already knows he’s hooked

when you text him asking him if he’s free for lunch on tuesday jihoon SCREAMS into his pillow

he’s never been on a date before because he’s always focused on music and like…….. you know he uncomfortably asks seungcheol and jeonghan for dating advice………… and jeonghan wipes a tear away like…. i knew this day would come....

mingyu: *pops out of nowhere* vernon told seungkwan told seokmin told soonyoung told wonwoo told me that you have a date. let me dress you up. please please please please please

jihoon: do not lay a SINGLE FINGER ON ME

anyways you two meet up for lunch and unsurprisingly it goes excellently!!!! you get jihoon to talk about his composing and music and sit in awe as he starts to talk more and more and get less and less reserved

you accidentally spend like 3 hours just sitting in the campus cafe talking and you both realize you have class and are like “oh shit” and have to leave but before you go jihoon awkwardly asks if you’d like to hang out again soon and ur like “of course!!!!!!!!!”

in his history of music class jihoon types a text that just says “i really enjoyed spending time with you today” but can’t bring himself to send it until joshua (who is sitting next to him) sees it and steals the phone from jihoon and sends it

because angel josh knew the poor boy wouldn’t be able to do it w/o help

you screenshot the text and send it to all your friends with a bunch of heart emojis and capslock and then just reply casually w/ a “me too *smiley face* *heart emoji*”

“what does smiley emoji heart emoji mean? joshua? joshua? what does it mean? oh my god.”

y’all go on like 5 dates “”””””just hanging out””””” before you explicitly call it a date and only then does jihoon believe that you’re actually interested in him…….. even though all his friends tell him you are..... bless his awkward lil soul

it’s on that date when you tell him you like him …….his tail starts twitching a lot and his face goes all pink and he mutters out an “i like you too” and it’s maybe the cutest thing you’ve ever seen in your life

he walks you home and it takes him 3 tries to ask if he can kiss you but when he does!!!! you’re so happy!!!!! he’s a little bad at kissing but honestly lee jihoon could do anything and you would be like “you’re incredible” so you don’t care

should be the worst boyfriend because he doesn’t know what tf to do as a boyfriend…...but is actually the best boyfriend in the world because he likes you so much

like jihoon doesn’t know how to flirt but he does know that he wants to hold your hand all the time so whenever you guys go out he will always intertwine your fingers ,,,,,,,,,, doesn’t really know how to be romantic but still says really cute things like “you look beautiful” all the time because he genuinely believes it and wants to let you know

the two of you go out to eat all the time because he eats? like a mad man? and you have like a thing where you try out a new restaurant every week and then jihoon eats his weight in meat while you watch in awe

jihoon: *breathes* you: you’re doing amazing sweetie

all his friends hound you asking about what jihoon is like as a bf because the two of you don’t act lovey dovey in front of them (except for the handholding) and ur like if you’re so curious why don’t you date him seungkwan

but also they adore you and treat you super well because you and jihoon are perfect together and they’re just glad someone finally appreciates him for the wonderful soft talented boy he is behind his resting bitch face

shows you all his compositions and of course you hype him up but you also help him with them because he trusts your judgement, so if you’re like “hmmm this part doesn’t sound as good” then he’ll probably change it

it’s like six months before you spend the night at his place because you both want to take it slow, but after you do for the first time you more or less move into his place because jihoon discovers he LOVES cuddling with you….he’s always had some trouble with sleeping and being with you makes him sleep so easily

the two of you curl up together every night and in the morning it’s almost impossible to wake up because jihoon clings to you and whines when you try to leave, but eventually you drag him out of bed

also i’m not saying that mice go into short heats frequently when they’re in close proximities to males/their mates and that your dna means you’re super horny like 3 times a month…..but i am saying that.

when he wears his long sweaters and does sweater paws you can’t help but call him cute and he pouts like “i’m not cute. i’m manly.” and ur like “jihoon i love you and you are very handsome and manly but you’re also the CUTEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN!!!”

also staying at his place helps because when he gets way too into composing and doesn’t come home for three nights in a row you go to his practice room and drag him back to go to sleep…. and since it’s you he lets it happen

mice can’t see well in the dark and you’re basically blind at night w/ no lights…. but if you wake up in the middle of the night craving food jihoon wakes up to make sure you don’t walk into any walls

people on the street are always like “how sweet! a mouse hybrid and a cat hybrid! like tom and jerry!” and even though it’s a little silly and jihoon acts like it’s dumb, you also find it super super cute and know he does too

jihoon is the first one to say i love you and he goes all out trying to make it super romantic and it’s so sweet and honestly…... you make him feel happy with himself and proud of his work and you bring him out of his shell and you love him and everything he does…. so so much and you’re everything he ever needed

Persona 5

A few things before we proceed: First off, since Atlus doesn’t allow me to record gameplay or take screencaps, I’ll have to pull screenshots off of Google search for illustrative purposes. Second, it’s impossible for me to gush about this game without spoiling a few things. I’ll keep major story spoilers contained to events surrounding the first major story dungeon. Nonetheless, consider this your spoiler warning.

I remember, as a wee lad (or as wee a lad as I can be while attending college), expressing an interest in Shin Megami Tensei, a game series that, at the time, had only recently started to pick up steam in the US. From that lone Facebook message, I discovered that a classmate in my Japanese class had a copy of Persona 3, and since he had beaten the game, decided to lend his copy to me.

I was hooked from the moment I put the disk into my PS2.

It was from there that I built up interest in the SMT series at large, with its themes of conflicting ideologies, the combination of magic and technology, and the deadly ramifications of their abuses. Through it all, however, the Persona subseries has always held a spot in my heart. That goes double for Persona 3, which combined dungeon crawling with life management, and Persona 4, which refined the gameplay of its predecessor to a fine point.

Persona 5 represents further refinement of the foundation laid by the previous titles in the series, including the ones before Persona 3. It doesn’t necessarily seek to re-invent the wheel, but with gameplay as slick as what it offers, combined with a story that resonates with me on a very deep level, it doesn’t even need to!

Even though the gameplay mechanics are the same, P5 differentiates itself from its forebearers right from the beginning.

Instead of beginning with your character moving into town, you open the game to the climax of what appears to be a daring heist on a swanky casino, with your character dressed like the world’s classiest burglar. This scene functions as a very basic tutorial for combat and stealth.

Unfortunately, the heist goes south very quickly: just as it seems you’re going to make a clean getaway, the police have you cornered! Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, you are arrested and taken into custody.

After what may be one of the most ethically dubious interrogations in games (with all the beatings and druggings that entails), you finally name your character as he is forced to sign a confession. Afterwards, a prosecutor arrives to get the full story behind your criminal activities and your bizarre MO, thus setting up the game’s framing device...

As it turns out, this isn’t your first hoedown at the rodeo: sometime in the spring, you got arrested with an assault charge after trying to help a young woman who was being forced upon by some drunk asshole. You never even put your hands on the jerk, but he is pissed off and influential, so...sucks to be you!

Thankfully, you got off with one year’s probation: so long as you keep out of trouble over the course of the coming school year, you’ll have your criminal record expunged and the stigma of being a juvenile delinquent won’t haunt you til your dying day.

Easier said than done...

On your way to your first day of school, thanks to a weird app that appeared on your phone, you and a classmate named Ryuji Sakamoto find yourselves very lost, stumbling upon a massive castle. An ill-advised excursion into the castle causes you to run afoul of its king, who bears a striking resemblence to Suguru Kamoshida, your school’s volleyball coach and someone with whom Ryuji has a major beef.

It seems as though you and Ryuji are about to meet with an untimely demise...

And that’s when a voice rings out inside your head, inciting you to rebellion!

Your Persona, Arsene, awakens. Ryuji awakens his own Persona, as well, and with the manifestations of your inner psyches, along with the help of a cat-like boy named Morgana, you make your escape.

Morgana explains that you had stumbled into the Metaverse, a parellel dimension formed from the human subconscious. That castle you were in? A “Palace”, a manifestation of one’s twisted, corrupt desires. The real world’s Kamoshida, as it turns out, is quite the asshole: he abuses his male students, pervs on his female students, lusts after your classmate Ann Takamaki somethign fierce, and has gotten away with it for ages due to his influence as a former Olympic gold medalist. When he crosses the line by attempting to rape Ann’s best friend, you, Ryuji, Ann, and Morgana make a plan to use the Metaverse and your newfound Persona powers to force Kamoshida to have a change of heart by stealing his “Treasure”, the core of his Palace’s distortions.

Thus, the stage is set for Persona 5, a story that speaks volumes to millennials, a generation disaffected by adults who abuse their power and make life more miserable for those who will later shape the world when they are gone.

A common thread between you and your accomplices, the “Phantom Thieves”, is this disaffection: Ryuji and Ann, as previously mentioned, have a personal quarrel with Kamoshida for his abuse/perversion, while the thief that joins you not long after, the artistic prodigy Yusuke Kitagawa, suffers under the thumb of a mentor who makes a fortune using plagiarized artwork.

The gameplay outside of dungeon crawling takes on the form of a life simulator: during the day, you will need to attend classes, as well as work part time for spending money, study for exams, watch movies, and maintain relationships with your fellow thieves, peers from school, and people around Tokyo. These relationships, called “Confidants”, are an evolution of the “Social Link” system from previous games. Your Confidants, similar to you, are victims of circumstances pushed upon them by those abusing their power: from the back alley doctor Tae Takemi, who is being harassed by the boss of the hospital she worked at; to Munehisa Iwai, an airsoft gun store owner whose dark past is catching up with him; and even your homeroom teacher, Sadayo Kawakami, who has little choice but to work as an in-call maid to make ends meet.

There is incentive to foster these relationships: the higher up you rank a Confidant, the more powerful the Personas of their corresponding arcana you can create. Unlike previous games, there are also benefits outside of Persona-fusing as you rank up each Confidant: Takemi will make more restorative medications and give you discounts, Iwai will customize weapons for you at his shop, and Kawakami will let you slack off during class every so often.

The main meat of the game, of course, is in dungeon crawling, which has been similarly refined in P5. Previous games used randomly generated dungeons, but the story dungeons in this game, referred to as “Palaces”, are hand-crafted instances that have a fixed structure throughout. To keep from being boring, each Palace has a unique theme, puzzles, and light platforming that helps to give them character, as well as resembling the locations you would expect thieves to pull off their capers, such as castles, museums, banks, and the aforementioned casino.

Stealth has been a minor part of previous Persona games, but in P5, it is an important part of Palace raiding: getting spotted by Shadows in a Palace will cause its security level to rise, and if it reaches 100%, you will be booted out automatically, thus wasting time. There is incentive beyond an advantage in battle to getting the drop on Shadows: a successful stealth attack can reduce security and make exploration easier in the long run.

The battle system takes elements from not only the two previous games, but Persona and SMT games before that. As with before, the key to victory lies in exploiting elemental weaknesses in your opponents, thus earning extra turns. Succeeding in knocking down every enemy will give you the opportunity to launch an All-Out Attack, inflicting massive damage on your foes.

However, that’s no longer the only thing that you can do when you’ve incapacitated your enemies: negotiations, a long-standing tradition in SMT and a feature of earlier Persona games, makes a return in P5. When talking to a Shadow, you can extort money and items from them, or convince them to join you as a brand spanking new Persona!

Once you clear a Palace, it no longer becomes accessible. If you need to do some grinding, however, you’re still in luck: there is another facet of the Multiverse, known as “Mementos”, that you can explore. Taking the form of randomly generated dungeons inside a sprawling maze of subway tunnels, Mementos serves as a means to gather new Personas and items, as well as the location from which you can carry out side-quests for EXP and advancement through Confidant plotlines.

As of this writing, I have not yet beat the game, but have made my way through a very large chunk of it: it is November in game-time, and I cannot say anything more about the story without spoiling anything. If you’re a fan of SMT, dungeon crawlers, and/or life sims; or if you’re a cranky millennial who is pissed off something fierce about the state of the world that you live in, then I very highly recommend Persona 5!
