I updated my Zora lineup from 2021 with the new TotK characters (and added the AoC guys too while I was at it).

To my knowledge these are all the named NPCs across the three games who use the generic adult male Zora model. I liked the idea of giving them more personality and trying to figure out unique features, all while staying faithful to the model (so no accessories, body modification etc).

More details on each character (all 14) under the cut:

Ahrt Secro and Ettu are the merchants that exist only as character portraits, but I decided to count them as individual NPCs regardless. I made an exception in "no accessories" rule for Ahrt Secro here, because of his... unconventional name (and him living in Goponga instead of the Domain); he's justified in not following their fashion standards. Ettu's only character trait iirc is that he dislikes plants. Which make up most of his stock. Rip.

Kayden is the oldest non-elder Zora guy (140ish?), calm, responsible, etc. He's an another accessory exception, with the little belt attachment. He's married and it's the "zora armor" he got from Kodah. I like to imagine that non-royal Zora women also propose with "armor", just bit more budget friendly - a single accessory or a piece of jewelry.

Capelo has basically no personality, his only few lines point to him being older and somewhat responsible. So I put him here and made him... idk, look big and serious.

Bazz! He's perfectly average when it comes to height and looks, but visibly more buff than most Zora guys. Also on the older side.

Rivan's whole thing is being Very Tall and Very Pretty. In my canon he's basically the most handsome guy in the Domain, with his long fins, smooth features and warm brown colored scales.

Ledo is like, the most average guy you've ever seen. He looks younger than he is but has no special features otherwise. Surprisingly level headed. Not very fit (for Zora standards).

Tie is another one of the new undercharacterized TotK guards, his only thing being that he complains about being out of shape. I think I like his design the least, but come on, I had nothing to work with here.

Numien, the only new guy who actually had more than two lines, all of them making him the most annoying prick in my eyes. He's just... too enthusiastic and eager to praise his superiors. I like to imagine Bazz despises him for being such a kissass (Bazz is canonically pretty judgemental) but can't do much about it. The guy is competent enough to be put in charge of the Lookout Landing squad after all. Anyway, I did my best to make him look at least a bit unhinged.

Fronk, the only man in the domain whose eyebags could compete with Bazz's, courtesy of his airhead wife Mei. He's also wearing the "zora armor" she gave him.

Resco wins the prize for least characterization. His only single trait is that he admires Gaddison. That's it. So I made him try to emulate her energy in his lineup pose.

Cleff, the shopkeeper with crab obsession. One of the prettier younger guys, although the crab thing is not working in his favor. The last one of fully adult guys in the lineup (around 90ish).

Gruve is, amusingly, the one sole unemployed Zora guy. His occupation is therefore officially, A Problem. He's very much the tall lanky teenager type.

And Tottika, another tall lanky teenager (70ish), but this time with a job. It's not canon, but he's commonly considered a twin brother of Torfeau and I quite like this idea. He's not the smartest but tries his best.

That's it, thanks for reading if you did! Next up are the ladies, which I have sketched out but not colored yet. Also I'm still pondering if I want to do elders and kids, just for the sake of having all the Zora properly catalogued...

Is there a chance you're losing me is about HS instead? There's the mention of 'hallway', 'light' and 'how long could we be a sad song'. I didn't think she really had any sad songs or many about JA. I don't really think it's about HS because of other parts but just a thought..

Blondie sure has us conditioned (like Pavlov’s dog) to pay attention when we hear certain—potentially Haylor-coded—words. Whenever I hear word like “garden”, “headlights” (esp. two), “home” and “hallway”, my head tilts in consideration, lol.

It was a deliberate switch for Harry to use “hallway” too. As late as Already Home, he was still using “corridor”:

But here? I think this is entirely (or almost entirely) about YB, and the demise of their relationship.

The “hallway” thing here seems to tie into the “relationship as terminally ill patient on life support” metaphor. It’s like a scene in her beloved Grey’s where the doctors sprint down the hallway to revive a coding patient.

Now, could she have drawn on feelings she had from when she and HS were struggling and couldn’t make it work? Sure. And maybe.

But a few lines and the entire bridge describe behaviours we have never seen with HS and seem chronic with YB:

“I know my pain is such an imposition”

- Matilda? A song validating her feelings of heartbreak and betrayal at the whole situation that motivates her re-recordings, and supporting her decision.

- Satellite? A song about longing to be with her while he sees he in a lonely-looking new life which he orbits.

“Don’t you ignore me, I am the best thing at this party”

- HS has never been able to take his eyes off her in any room, as the sneaky Grammy glances in 2021 and 2023 (even in the midst of his enormous overwhelm) continue to show.

“…who only wanted you to see her…”

- in TTDS, Blondie tells us that he is the only one “who can tell which smiles I’m faking.” He has been laser tuned in to her since day one, I think.

And the whole bridge? About wanting him to do, risk, choose? Well, that has never been a problem with HS, who is almost too effusive, too impulsive with respect to her.

- in his earliest lyric contributions after meeting her, he’s all like “I don’t care who finds out! I want to put it on my record, I want everyone to know now!”

- on July 19th, he released a MV (shot nearly 15 months before!) full of allusions to how he is still thinking about Blondie (Daylight). For a song that already has a (decoy) MV.

It seems like from the very beginning, he has always felt incredulous that someone as incredible as *her* would be into *him*. His “argumentative, antithetical dream girl” you might say.

So the disconnected, unwilling to commit or show up or see Blondie? That stuff is all YB. As is the song YLM

My art journey in the start of pandemic til now through the eyes of how i draw my persona Nari

Very first iteration of the Nari sona lol

(ew boobs)

I used to draw on paper and trace it on ibispaint and color. I used to shade with black. Pretty much looks shitty and the colors clash a lot, i dont know how to do color combos yet. This was around February of 2021

Thus is where the whole arm warmers thing cane from!!

And the start of ne figuring out my identity!!

I also drew this on paper i think, and it's the start of my thin line art style. My sona usually copies what my hair looked like currently and this was the time where my hair was pretty short, but long enough to look girly.

The skin tone was fixed too

This was June 2021

This one had my real name in it so i had to edit lol.

This was the start of me drawing on my phone full time, i think. No more drawing on paper ans tracing it. This was legitimately drawn digitally.

i think i only ever mentioned it once or twice but i only draw with my fingers btw. A stylus and an art tablet is expensive so i only have mt fingers and phone.

This is also the start of the appearance of the signature striped hoodie as well as the return of the purple hair

Also the first appearance of the bat and the choker, as well as the purple bangs. And also the bandage on cheek (that i somehow forget sometimes)

The colors were definitely darker.

Not much to say about this. Tho i didn't like the way i did the blush.

Also cut my hair during this time for the first time ans changed my sona accordingly.

Full body this time

Nari starts to look like a little shit. This is honestly where the smug cat personality came from, and i startes to sign my art using the name Nari too.

Still pretty much wonky with the anatomy but i'm proud!!

The hoodie became a croptop but i dont follow it lol, it's still a normal hoodie in some art.

Added stripes to the sleeves too.

The short remains plus differenr colored socks!!

The era of the thick line art art style

This was also one of the drawings that featured fluffu hair Nari.

I deviated from the usual hoodie and gave them some new clothes since i drew them alongside two other ocs.

The story that my sona Nari is in requires them to have an eyepatch since red eyes aren't really that natural lol.

Still have that smug cat smirk.

This is the latest drawing of Nari before i stopped using them as a sona and actually using one that looks closer to me. Nari is back to being an oc now but they're still my mascot.

I forgot the bandage here lol, but that cat grin is still there. I also added my beauty mark!!

Lately my sona is just this funny little thing:

It looks more closer to what i actually look like irl.

I started drawing myself with my glasses more too, which i think i got in like 2022-ish.

I started feelong a bit jealous that my other artist friends had a cute style so i started making this little thing when j got bored during pur chemistry subject and it just stuck.

So this is my actual sona now, but i still use Nari from time to time and also took the name Nari as a pseudonym online.

The name cane from me misspelling the word Ocarina with Ocnarina, so you can see me use that name throughout my art journey.

Not really comfortable sharing my actual name yet tho, but it does start with an R since the people on my header (art made by a friend) is called the Toys R Us trio since out names start with an R lol.

As for my username, i used tumblr before to look at Sanders Sides art. It came from Virgil lol.

Virgil was confirmed to be connected with spiders and i thought

Virgil is spidey

And that stuck.

Plus he's purple lol, i love purple.
