"I think we're done" with tenkangie sounds fun . .
“Hmm… that will do.”
Tenko glances up from the door to Angie’s lab, where she’s just finished telling off Kokichi for trying to interrupt the student council. Not that most of the council is even here to interrupt—it’s just Tenko and Angie right now, for some reason—but even still, Kokichi has no business interfering in student council business.
Never mind Tenko’s increasingly mixed feelings on the student council (and Angie’s god) overall. Tenko has a duty to fulfil, since she did join Angie’s group, and it’s only fair that she stick to it.
“What will do?” Tenko asks, closing the door lightly and turning the lock. “Was Tenko too harsh with Ouma-san? She knows God preaches mercy and forgiveness—” and it’s hard to keep from pulling a face at the way the words taste in her mouth, “—but Ouma-san is a special case, Angie-san!”
Angie’s smile, as always, is benevolent. She shakes her head. “No, no. Tenko did very well with Kokichi! But Angie means… mmm. I think we’re done, don’t you?”
Um. Tenko shifts her weight. Angie often says confusing things. It’s one of the characteristics of the artist that Tenko really can’t stand… but this is just straight up incomprehensible. Most of the time, Tenko will nod along and pretend to understand, but the cool finality of Angie’s words is making her hair stand up on end, for some reason.
“We? Done with what?”
“Tenko is very kind.” Angie cups her chest with a hand. “Angie is happy to have her here as a part of her student council… but the both of us know you don’t really believe in God, do you?”
Ah. Tenko’s throat feels dry. “Angie-san—”
“It’s alright. God loves all His children, even those who do not believe.” Angie shakes her head, always so collected. “Angie will not tell the others. She will allow Tenko to stay on the student council, as she is quite dutiful. However…”
Angie trails off meaningfully. Tenko swallows past the sandpaper at the back of her mouth and looks away, drumming her index fingers together. She wants to say something, deny it, but that would be ridiculous. Angie is telling the truth! Tenko doesn’t and never has believed in any god… so there’s no point in even trying to deny it, even if…
Even if Tenko… sort of wishes Angie would meet her eyes.
“Tenko… just wanted to watch over Yumeno-san,” Tenko says, a lame attempt at explaining herself.
“You are very kind,” Angie reiterates. “Angie will allow Tenko to stay, so she can do that. Please close the door behind you?”
Tenko nods. She’s unable to do much else as she turns around, an odd cold sensation in her gut. She should have known better than to think she could deceive Angie—the other girl is surprisingly perceptive. This is the better outcome, anyhow. Now Angie knows good and well that Tenko won’t allow any harm to befall Himiko.
So why does Tenko feel so empty as she leaves Angie’s lab…?

Preliminary Poll
Angie Yonaga
Submission reason:
supposed to be a very religious person from an island country. the only dark skinned person in v3 so you can imagine how that went. instead of localizing her accurate to the japanese version (where she used the common noun 'god'), they made a god that people actually believe in as the center of her religion. obsessed with trying to convert everyone. reinforces racist stereotypes by seeming 'savage' and asking for people's blood for a ritual. her talent as an artist is rarely referenced in favor of the cult gag. just straight up wears a bikini because girls dont need clothes ig. etc etc
