What I Wore: the Week of Repeats
Last week was an interesting one for getting dressed. For the first few days, I was very unmotivated to create anything new or exciting out of my closet.
Sometimes I feel a little subconscious pressure to make sure my outfits don’t get too boring or repetitive because I’m documenting them for the blog. That thought crept into my head a little deeper, and I considered scrapping outfit photos for the week entirely. Then, I remembered that outfit repeating is worth celebrating, and too often it’s the other way around, and we feel like we can’t or shouldn’t repeat outfits. So, in the interest of re-wearing what we own, here are a few repeats and one really fabulous Sunday look.
MONDAY:
Candela Utility Dress c/o Able, (M) | Huaraches (9.5), Nisolo | Necklace, c/o Rebecca Mir Grady | Vintage Sisal Bag, Etsy
Style Notes: I’ve probably already said this, but this dress lives up to its name. The only thing that would make it more utilitarian would be pockets. I like it quite a bit, though I do struggle with shoes. It’s too long to work with my Birkenstocks and Pons which make me look at bit monk-ish with this dress. So I’ve tried out other options like the huaraches and, maybe if I feel like getting fancy, mules.
TUESDAY:
The Friend (S), c/o Power of My People | shorts, cut from thrifted Levi’s, (very similar) | Sandals, old Everlane (similar) | Hat, Brookes Boswell
Style Notes: I am super surprised I haven’t paired this combo yet. This crisp white shirt is a perfect contrast to the faded, distressed jeans. The hat is an excellent ‘third piece’ to make the look feel complete. This hat is yet to meet an outfit it doesn’t like.
WEDNESDAY:
Striped Tank, Everlane | Clyde Work Short (6) in Linen, Elizabeth Suzann, SS17 | Birkenstocks | Vintage Sisal Bag, Etsy | Sunglasses, Ray-Ban
Style Notes: Repeating in all its ‘glory.’ It was nearly 100 degrees on Wednesday, and I wasn’t even mad about it. I was in and out of A/C but this combo kept me ultra comfortable.
THURSDAY:
Basic Shift Dress (M), Hackwith Design House | Birkenstocks | Small Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
Have you guys tried BeautyCounter’s lip sheers? I am finally trying them out, and I really like them. Today, I had the Rose on, and I really like the formula. It’s almost like pigmented chapstick, but with a little more luster. I ordered a few shades during their sale, and I’m thinking about putting together another beauty post in the near future.
Style Notes: These hoops are giving me LIFE this week! I got them as a gift for a collab with Seattle-based Baleen jewelry, and I think I wore them more days this week than I didn’t! The hoops were the only accessory to this ultra simple black dress and I loved the simple combination.
FRIDAY:
Well guys, it’s bound to happen. No picture on Friday. No picture to document the very dirty hair, the make up free face, or the barefoot feet. Things were looking pretty casual! But I did wear my favorite relaxed jumpsuit, which is the equivalent of public-appropriate pajamas.
SATURDAY:
Pima Micro Rib Scoop Neck Tee, Everlane | Wide Pant, Lauren Winter (from FW16) (love this option) | Day Glove flat (10.5), c/o Everlane (re-stocked!) | Vintage Sisal Bag, Etsy
Style Notes: We had cool, rainy weather on Saturday (rare for August, even for Oregon!) and I dusted off my neglected Day Gloves. I forgot how much I like these shoes! They are very ‘foot figure’ hugging, like leggings for feet, haha. They paired better than I expected with these pants. Usually I feel the need to pair these pants with chunky shoes (like clogs) for balance. However these low profile shoes worked beautifully in contrast to the volume of the pants. Minimalist shoe for the win.
SUNDAY:
Jane Blouse (M), Dôen | Crop Flood Jeans (27), Reformation via Nordstrom | Wedge Clogs (41), No.6 | Classic Tote, c/o Cuyana | Small Slice Hoops, c/o Baleen
Style Notes: Yesssss. Just call me 70’s glam mom. I took a curling wand to my second-day hair and front tucked my peasant top and felt like a million bucks. It doesn’t hurt that both the jeans and the top are super soft. This was definitely my favorite look from the week!
Who is thinking about their fall wardrobe? Ready to dust off those sweaters yet? I’m putting together a post for next week featuring a fall forecast of sorts, including what I’m looking forward to wearing, and what kind of goals I’m setting for getting dressed. Can’t wait to share it with you guys and hear about your fall goals!
